@HedlesChkn

What`s even worse is that people call me an idiot for insisting on using "-couldn`t- care less". Logic doesn`t reach these people.

@Pyrosisflame

Unfortunately, that`s how Americans express that turn of phrase.

I used to have some cups that would change colors when they got cold. It would be cool if water bottles did that too.

tastes more watery than water.

@Angillion: Yes it really is that bad over here in the U.S. and the best part? There`s not a damn thing we can do about it unless we want to pay for our water. Our system is nothing more than a money pit, our government is feeding us chromium 6 and flouride (neither of which can be filtered out), and they could care less if it kills us
bottled water is expensive because that`s how they pay for the filtration processes that make water safe for us to drink. tap water may contain harmful or unhealthy levels of chemicals, as well as harmful microbes and parasites (true fact: you can ingest tapeworm cysts by drinking tap water).
Are you seriously telling me that the USA is that primitive? Really? You can`t even enforce minimal purity rules on drinking water? I find that hard to believe.

The purity controls on tap water in the UK are higher than they are for bottled water.

@Angilion "Premise: Many people cheerfully pay extra money for bottled water, even though it`s environmentally damaging and may be less pure than tap water."

You seem to be under the mistaken impression that people purchase bottled water due to purity or taste. In truth it`s all about convenience.

Sorry, most bottling companies already beat Apple to the punch for getting people to spend over a dollar for a few cents of tapwater they bottled and shipped. Heck, for less than the price of one bottle of water I can buy a container and fill it myself.

It`s a joke, but I see no reason why it wouldn`t work.

Premise: Many people cheerfully pay extra money for an Apple logo on a product.

Premise: Many people cheerfully pay extra money for bottled water, even though it`s environmentally damaging and may be less pure than tap water.

Conclusion: Many people would cheerfully pay extra money for Apple branded bottled water.

neither tap nor bottled water is safe.
That`s why I only drink beer.

And brand name bottled water like Dasani and Aquafina costs 4000% more than tap water. You don`t need a 4000% markup to pay for extra filtering! It`s just a big scam.

@PsychGeek
Bottled water isn`t regulated by the FDA, and it sure isn`t any better than tap. Hell, alot of bottled water is simply bottled municipal water.
Also, though there are microbes in tap water, its wayy less than would be actually dangerous. It`s really just the perception of added value because of the hype.

Tap water is generally very safe. It`s strictly regulated. And some bottled water has unhealthy levels of copper and crap like that in it.

To PsychGeek, True Fact, bottled water is unregulated when transported around a single state. Chances are, you are drinking tap water from the location of the bottling plant. Also there have been cases where the bottled water wasn`t as clean as most people`s tap water. It also takes more water to make the plastic bottles that what the bottles actually hold.

PsychGeek: Tapeworm cysts are extremely uncommon in tap water in the Western world, and the regulations on bottled water are actually looser than the regulations on tap water, at least, in the US. If you are living in a third world country, bottled water might be a good idea, if you can afford it and if it doesn`t just use local water. Though you`d probably be better off setting up a cistern to collect rainwater. Further, the chemicals that are in tap water are either added intentionally for health purposes or are difficult or impossible to filter out, so they are also present in bottled water. Fluoride is added for dental health (though there is some indication that the level of fluoride that they add to the water may be too high). Traces of hormones and medications are difficult and expensive to filter out. Companies that package bottled water typically just use their local tap water. You are getting the same thing in your bottled water as you`d be getting from tap water.

I dunno where you live but in North America, drinking tap water is twice as better than drinking bottled water. I hear its also safer and healthier.

filtration has little to do with it. Tap water is filtered too, maybe not in the same way (though I would bet it is). They just want you to think that because you are paying more for it, that it`s higher quality or "cleaner" somehow. Which, unfortunately, people buy into this en masse.
