Or with some of the prices of "healthy food", you feel depressed at how much it`s gonna cost to stay healthy!!

I think it`s the other way around, you eat crap when you get depressed. I`ve been eating healthy and exercising for the first time in my life for a year now. I lost 60 pounds but I`m certainly not any happier, I just look better.

Ahh, ye old vicious circle of feeling bad and eating bad fast food to feel good but alas feeling fat and bad instead leading to more bad fast food and so on untill the only thing you (still) feel bad about is your fat and starting to work out/eat less fast food

i had mild depression for two years. when i decided i was going to eat healthy and start to exercise, it became manageable within a week or two, and had gone after a couple of months. yes, my depression was mild, and yes it`s a complicated disease, but this worked completely for me.

Yes and high fructose corn syrup is the reason behind the obesity epidemic and it`s in everything. Also there`s fluoride in the water. Fluoride is one of the main active ingredients in Prozac and people wonder why this generation is so apathetic.

Correlation is not causation. For all we know, sad people simply eat more crap, because they are sad. Not necessarily the other way around. Or perhaps they are poor, which makes them sad and makes them eat crap.

Correlation is not causation.

its quite obvious if u eat foods that actually nourish your body, you might have more energy.. and may do more productive things... and MIGHT feel good about yourself. and you might not be such a fata&$

Oh for crying out loud! They find a correlation and assume a CAUSATION. As someone who has some experience with this, junk food is a comfort food. I say depression causes higher intakes of bad food.

Why do "science" journals not call them out on this and demand they re-write their conclusion to what is justifiable from the evidence? All they can say is "there is a correlation, we hyopthesise eating fatty foods is the cause, not the effect based on the aparent positive connection with olive oil. More work is required."

slut etta: you took the words out of my mouth.

And i wonder; are eggs still bad for you? I lost track a long time ago and no one can tell me. First they were good for me, then they were bad for me, then they helped my memory, then they were going to kill me with a heart attack.

I do know there wasnt a rampant depression epidemic in the 80`s and we were stuffing burgers and fries down our throats then. So burgers must of developed this ability to cause depression over the course of the 90`s and 0`s.

so eating `bad` food is linked to depression, huh?

so i guess the fact that so many of us americans are unemployed or under-employed and can`t afford better food doesn`t weigh heavily on our minds? of course the nightmare of impending foreclosure looming in the not to distant future for so many of us doesn`t render anyone depressed. or the fact that saving for our kids` college fund comes in a distant second or third or fourth to skyrocketing utility bills. or the painful choice to surrender a beloved family pet because you can`t afford to feed them AND your kids now. and the fact that no matter what the government says about the economy recovering, so many of us are seeing radical changes to our lifestyles. no, it can`t be any of those things, IT MUST BE THE FOOD!
