I had to laugh at the "Over $100 million" claim.

S`if "real" artists haven`t done worse and could almost INDIVIDUALLY gross that yearly. Still, both Christian and modern music is overwhelmingly terrible, and the second-worst place to look for role models, so it concerns me not.

So is it somehow less illegal when an atheist is a pedophile? Or less of being a douche when they cheat on a spouse? Like Schr0dinger, I`m not sure what the intent really is.

I can only guess at it being an Atheist who did this, since it has a "Holier Than Thou" message against religion since it is so pointedly aimed at the Christian faith. Jews, Muslims, Hindus, etc. can cheat and rape kids just as much as the Jesus Freaks, people.

These are human beings. Regardless of what religion they practice, if any, they make mistakes, get addicted, and act like douchebags just like any one else could. The Bible says that all of us are sinners and none are perfect. Yeah, there are lots of crazy people out there (I`m looking at you Westboro Baptist) who misunderstand what the Christian faith is all about, giving us all a bad name. I`m just sorry this is how the world sees us because all of the crazies get the spotlight.

You seem to miss the point. It`s basically calling out the hypocrisy of famous Christians. Atheists don`t claim that atheism makes you a good person. Christians, on the other hand, do claim that.

However, this video is stupid because all that will happen is that Christians will call "no true Scotsman" and pretend it never happened.

    100% offensive.

Yes, Christian music sucks for the most part (there are legitimately good bands on the fringe of CCM). Yes, the artists are human just like everybody else. I`d say take a quick peek at all the other secular artists, and controlling for numbers, guaranteed secular artists have had more run-ins with the law.

How does someone messing up discredit religion?

Shenanigans. I`m as atheist as they come. But I have to say that the quote above simply isn`t true. It is, however, a testament to how easy it is to scam those who want to believe in something. But that is a human trait, not a Christian trait.

Ok here`s my thing with this video. I`m a Christian, and I`ll proudly admit it. I will also admit that 99.9% of Christian music is pure crap. Utter drivel.

But wow, big shocker, these people are human. Yeah, some of them did pretty despicable things, but no worse than most of the Hollywood elite that we continue to support by going to movies, watching their shows, or listening to their music. The point is, it`s not news.

I just hate this whole, "All religion (read: Christianity) is bad, because some people are bad/made mistakes."

And don`t even get me started about why they put being gay in with all the other horrible things these creeps did. Being gay IMHO should not be lumped in with molestation or stealing. I know most people think Christians hate gays, but I have yet to actually meet a fellow Christian that thinks that way. Don`t judge all of us by the actions of few that are highly publicized.

The (obviously biased) person who made this video is not saying that being gay is bad, but that it is "un-Christian," and therefore not something a Christian role model should be.

Substitute "Christian" with "Pop" and "religious" with "preteen" and the statement is still true. Nothing new here. Get mad at "Marketing" if you have to, but otherwise, shut up about Christians and Pop artists.

I`m sorry that you heard that from a preacher, but it`s just not true. I don`t think this way, and I don`t know of any Christian that does. That doesn`t mean they don`t exist, but they are certainly in the minority.

Also, Gerry, I agree with you that this video essentially says is that Christians are imperfect just like everyone else. The specific problem I have is when they act like they`re morally superior to non-Christians simply because they`re "saved." In fact, I heard a preacher on the radio explicitly say that non-Christians don`t have the right to judge Christians for their actions because being "saved" puts them above the judgment of other mortals.

That being said, I`ve met people who are NOT Christian who are highly critical of other people for things that they do themselves, and who don`t want to listen when others turn the mirror back on them. I think that`s a fairly common human trait. Religion just institutionalizes it.

I don`t understand the purpose of this videos... Christians are never perfect and they never claim to be. 80`s music has always been bad, boy bands have always been full of suck, and some people just have zero taste in facial hair. Maybe not, but Christian groups spend a whole lot of time and money trying to pass legislation to discriminate against those who behave in ways they personally disagree with. Perhaps they should worry about cleaning their own house.

@quick1dunko: Actually, Christianity doesn`t claim that if you follow the "religion" it will make you a better person, at least not in the way that you outline it.

Christianity is the belief that one is, in fact, a filthy, nasty, wretched individual, and that the entire purpose of Christ was that He was sinless, and died, because according to old testament law, the punishment for sin is death, thereby becoming sin for humanity.

Nowhere does Christianity state that once a Christian, you are immune from sin, nor are you morally better than any other human, Gentile or not.

Christianity DOES state that a Christian, based on Christ, will show EVIDENCE of this Christianity (fruits of the Spirit) in their life. This doesn`t mean that sin will not still occur. To think otherwise, or judge others for it, is, honestly, foolish.

People who think like this don`t understand the Bible, at all. It`s about forgiveness not perfection. It`s about understanding one`s propensity to sin and be ever repentant of it. Those who are in the limelight are targeted with temptation, particularly sexual, all the time. Some let the fame get to them too. Out of the 7 deadly sins pride, lust, and greed are all very available to them. Some will give in. One of the biggest heroes of the Bible is King David. He is also known for his greatest sin- he had one of his best military soldiers killed since he got the guy`s wife pregnant and he was trying to hide it. To be sure, God held him to account, just like all of us will be. Including these musicians.

Truer Christians won`t gravitate to the spotlight but rather seek humble places. They`d rather do a concert for 10 poor people than millions.

Also, the Christian music industry is no different than the regular one. Artists get stuck in long contracts and never make a dim

"People who think like this don`t understand the Bible, at all. It`s about forgiveness not perfection. It`s about understanding one`s propensity to sin and be ever repentant of it."

Exactly. The problem that we non-Christians have is that the most publicly vocal, and politically active, Christians use their faith as a means of exerting a false sense of moral superiority over everyone else, and of passing legislation to push their ideas about morality on the public at large. I know that they`re a small minority, but they`re the ones most likely to approach me and try to make me believe what they do, and the ones I`m most likely to see in the media.

I may be a Christian, but Christian music is just terrible. All it ever says is "you are worthy to be praised" and stuff like that over and over again. EVERY SONG is essentially the same words in a different order.

I don`t like that this video is trying to generalize all Christians as being like these people. They`re just terrible examples, and they`re always the ones in the public eye... It`s not Jesus` example at all.

Christianity can give a good set of morals to live by... If you actually take the time to read the Bible and understand what it`s really saying.

He makes a good argument, but then fail in the conclusion: it isn`t theology that`s wrong-its those who seek to profit by it by pretending they can be like the lost, while insisting they are Christians. CCM IS silly-and it`s dangerous, as it inevitably leads to carnality and sin. To be a Christian is to be holy-which means set apart, or separated, different. When Christians insist in acting like non-Christians, they lose their credibility, and their testimony. For a Christian to act like the lost to save the lost, is like a Capitalist trying to convince communists that capitalism is better, by acting like a communist-all you do is waste your time and annoy/amuse the communist.

Christians are human and have the same failings as everyone else. But it`s the hypocrisy of these people that disgusts me. I don`t care if they are gay or straight, womanizers or drunks, just be honest about it!

Wow- religious people are human, amazing, how profound. BTW- kudos to those who came out about being gay. The real question is why Christain music is so damn awful.

I don`t see the hypocrisy. Except for the last guy of course. I don`t see how saying you believe in Jesus means you act like Jesus. There are dirtbags everywhere. Dirtbags that like the color blue, that have dogs, that drive electric cars, etc. etc. Believing in a way to live your life and actually doing it are two separate things. Maybe I wasn`t listening well enough but it didn`t sound like any of them were claiming to live perfect lives in their music.

Not ALL Christian music is terrible. Just the overwhelmingly vast majority. Like that Jesus-ska I was just subjected to. But some Christian music is OK. For example POD - Alive.

    Adolf Hitler = Athiest
You should really read some of Mein Kampf. Hitler repeatedly talks about Jesus or his creator.
Or read transcripts of some of his public speeches. Such as this:

We were convinced that the people needs and requires this faith. We have therefore undertaken the fight against the atheistic movement, and that not merely with a few theoretical declarations: we have stamped it out. - Adolf Hitler, Berlin, 24th October 1933

    What? No Christian Side Hug?

Either way, I don`t really care that they did the things they did being known as "Christian Musicians". I think that eventually everyone will do something insane if they are a musician, regardless of prefix.

The video was still pretty entertaining though.

I don`t mind Christianity, even though I am atheist. I do think it`s a shame that faith can be so often and so easily used to manipulate the masses for personal gain. Of course these people were trusted - they played themselves as messengers from the one being Christians believe they can trust absolutely.

"The Christian music industry continues it`s religious profiteering"

Wow, this video is plain old ignorant fear-mongering and sums up everything wrong with IAB`s `ultra-liberal/anti-Christian crusade`.

If I made a video about horrible things homosexuals had done and claimed it was because they were homosexual, it would be just plain wrong and ignorant, and I`m sure if IAB got wind of it they`d be prepared to hang me.

We all know the media loves to blow it out of proportion when they find out a rapist played Grand Theft Auto, and then claim it`s the game`s fault, which is again, just fear-mongering (cracked has some good articles on that subject).

Why is it any different with Christians?

Oh, and some Christian music is actually really popular! Not many people realize Lifehouse are Christians: Listen to the lyrics

thank you webz!! I swear people just blame the religion when anyone can be stupid or something like that. Just because their Christian and trying to express what they love doesn`t mean people have to rag on the religion. I mean why don`t you listen to pop and rap music today? lol

Webz, the point about "religious profiteering" isn`t about religion causing these people to do bad things, it is about marketing to the religious for profit.

`Believers` buy this music because they believe the artists are like them. They will buy the music believing it is more moral than that put out by the traditional music industry. However, they are not any more moral or ethical. They do will do whatever it takes to sell their music, and do not behave any better than non-religious artists. They just hide their bad behavior because they know it will cost them money.

Christians claim the moral high ground. As such, they should act more morally. But they don`t. They are just as likely to cheat on their wives, steal from their employers, and engage in sexual `misbehavior` as non-Christians.

Christianity kind of goes against natural instinct. Humans are still animals, and not meant to be monogamous creatures. Biggest reason why cheating really happens.

"Each time a Christian artist misbehaves it`s a testament to the fallacy of religious theology . . ."

This is such an asinine statement it is difficult to know where to begin. Where, anywhere, does it say in the scriptures that Christians are without sin. Just because some people are bad people and some people make mistakes in no way invalidates the teachings of Christianity.

If you want to attack the tenets of a religion - that is your right, but at least try to do so intelligently.

And the "If this is the type of behavior Jesus condones bit is the icing on the asinine cake. Jesus was quite clear that he does not condone sinning and was also quite clear that everyone can repent and change.

I found the band in the first and last clip of the video to proof that something somewhere has a great sense of humor. The juxtaposition of "hip and cool" Ska music played by such square and dorky looking folks to be divine.
