No in the US if you make $249k that whole amounts gets taxed at one bracket, and at $250k the whole amount gets taxed in a new bracket.
A small business with slow rising profits i.e. a restaurant or a local business.
It would still be extremely short-sighted to say "let`s arrest our growth here, because in a new tax bracket we might post a smaller profit next year". Sure, in the first year. In the second year, you will be back up again. In the third year, you`re taking more, and you`ve got a whole new tax bracket to expand into.

Plus, don`t new tax brackets tend to only affect money over that amount? Say a new tax bracket of 40% kicks in at $50k turnover - you pay the lower bracket on the first $50k, then the higher bracket on money after that. So there is no downside to expansion.

That`s how our income tax works in the UK anyway, perhaps corporate tax is different.

@CrakrJak I`m aware of corporations partaking in such practices(admittedly I only just looked into if Google cheated the system as a result of this article). I completely agree that these loopholes need to be closed. This shouldn`t have to be done by lowering taxes from thirty percent to six percent so corporations feel comfortable in their ability to pay taxes while lavishing bonuses upon themselves. There will always be a country with lower tax rates across the board than America. We shouldn`t have to lower taxes just for wealthy businesses and individuals to agree to pay their share of taxes.

Oh btw there would be many here in Hawaii who would wish your argument to be correct. You may come and represent the 800k citizens deemed not native Hawaiian and denied 5 acres of Hawaiian Homelands for free. Also free education at King Kamehameha schools, and free college scholarships through OHA designated for NATIVE Hawaiians only.

skruffer: Actually Google found a surreptitious way of funneling it`s revenue through Ireland and into the Carribean to avoid paying a very large amount in US taxes. So called `global corporations` have been playing this shell game for quite awhile now and I believe it`s about time those tax loopholes be closed.

@aurburnjunky "For instance, your business grows, and grows. One year, you make $240k in profit. BETTER STOP because if you make $250k, your taxes go up by 13%. "

I`m pretty sure any company making either millions or billions a year would have to disagree with you that making only $240k would be in their best interest. Perhaps Google or Facebook should have stopped one they hit the $240k bracket instead of becoming the colossal corporations they are today. Clearly they`re much worse off now that they surpassed $250k in earnings.

handys: That is where we disagree, I don`t believe you have to be born in a state to be `of` that state (or country, for that matter).

Does Obama`s circumstances of birth make him a muslim ? Some people think so, others do not. Lincoln was born in Kentucky, Yet most people would agree he was an Illinoisan.

I could give countless examples, but I think you get my point.

You can call me Hawaiian as well from my service in Hawaii also. However I`m not Native Hawaiian viewed upon by the Native bloods. Get my meaning? If GWB was born in Texas then I would call him as a fellow Native Texan. LBJ and Sam Rayburn are rolling in their graves now. It`s where you are born.

He was congressman of Texas, Was part of Texas Air National Guard, Governor of Texas, Owned a share of the Texas Rangers baseball team, Owns and lives in a ranch home in Midland, Texas.

No intrigid.

There is more incentive to grow your business to a certain point, then STOP, rather than aim for the stars.

For instance, your business grows, and grows. One year, you make $240k in profit. BETTER STOP because if you make $250k, your taxes go up by 13%.

That was what was going to happen if the tax rates didn`t get frozen.

Second GWB is no more Texan than I`m native Hawaiian. Even though I lived here 26 years and speak the language. Since I`m native Texan Hawaiians will always look upon as such. You have to be born in the state to be a true blood native Texan.

Obama is considered a local boy, but not a native Hawaiian.

"What`s the motivation to create a business? What happens when that business starts to make money and they enter a tax bracket where they get raped?"

What`s better? Losing 5% of $10,000 a year or losing 50% of $100,000 a year? According to you, there`s more incentive to earn $9,500 a year than there is to earn $50,000 a year. Ergo, you are a dumbass.

He has no idea what he is talking about, he has been proven wrong so many times that it has pretty much kept people at places such as mediamatters.org and fair.com in jobs. The whole "Well, they disrespected Bush for 8 years!" argument is quite the bit of revisionist history. Did Bush get it toward the end? No question. But the media kowtowed to the Bush Administration for a good 5-6 years.

Hell, the media environment was so hostile to alternative views after 9/11 that to question Bush was to be unamerican (Google "Knight Ridder Iraq" some time).

Even assuming that he was disrespected for all 8 years, what happened to "two wrongs don`t make a right?" Shouldn`t you want to be above your opponents` level? But maybe that`s just me.

everyone else, f*ck fox news, cnn, msnbc, and the internet. no matter where you get your information, it is biased. you know why? because the person who wrote/spoke it has a mind, and that mind puts them on one side of the coin or the other. no matter how unbiased they may try to be, there is no such thing as completely so. so, short of reading everything put into law by every politician, none of us really know anything.

Since when is Bill O`Reilly supposed to be news? The news is that thing that comes on at 11 at night, and probably a couple other times during the day. The rest of it is talking heads and isn`t meant to be interpreted as anything but.

I will agree with the general sentiment, though, that his talk show is ridiculous. He doesn`t even try to listen to the facts. He just calls people on his show to either agree with them or, more likely, yell at them. Pretty much every talk show follows a similar model...

If by dominant you mean `a rude pig-dog` and by submissive you mean `polite.` Then yes, I agree with your statement.

This man(O`Reilly) is one of the biggest hicks on the planet, let alone in his country. He is clueless in every way. He has no idea what an interview even is, let alone how the tides work.
The fact that this man has his own "news-style" show is an affront to legitimate media across the world.

Someone saying "Yeah" in understanding while another person is talking isn`t interrupting them.

A lot of these "interruptions" are the same interruptions that happen any time two people talk and interact, and aren`t actual "interruptions". This video does a better job of making Pres. Obama look bumbling.

That said, even if you watched the entire video in context you would see an incredibly disrespectful interview. Respect for the office has nothing to do with respect, or even agreement of policy. The saddest part is that the people who made this video probably made other videos designed to make Bush look like an idiot. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Obama only got visibly perturbed when O`reilly asked him if he knew football.

"Republicans are morons" No, people who grossly generalize an entire group of people based on differing beliefs are morons.

What is there to gain from watching this? It`s already been established that republicans are morons. What is there left to say? Maybe next time you should elect a president with more balls.

You think talking over someone is how you dominate them? Intellectually I mean.

Riiiiight.

thats not an interview, its more like a "you sit there an listen to what i say" segment.

its missing the key components of an interview, you know questions and answers.

Bless Obama for his patience. If I were in his spot I would have lost mine by the third interruption.

By the sixth one I would have ended the interview. Or choked him out.

chelseaelsie - "This is so drating ridiculous. He is YOUR PRESIDENT. I don`t care if it is a conservative or liberal president, or a conservative or liberal interviewer, you do not disrespect the leader of your country that way. I`m really appalled."

I`ve never considered this thought cause I never seen such bullfark like I did in the video, but that`s because I don`t watch the "news" let alone Fox News. Granted, it`s hard to give Presidents(any President) slack when they`re viewed as not being favorable in their country, but Bill O`Rielly has crowned himself as a giant douche nugget with this interview.

Hmmmm...Now the liberals are telling us to respect the office of the president. Now that he`s a Democrat, that is.

Bill O`Reilly does that in just about every 1-on-1 interview.

The funny thing is, if a non-republican journalist interrupted Bush or any other republican president even once, O`Reilly would`ve been up his ass 24/7.

when there is a general vote of no confidence in the leader of my country, and he demonstrates a desire to spend this country into submission and ruin I WILL disrespect him. I fought for this country but I`ll be damned if I`ll fight for him.

Maybe he was going for one interruption per state... in which case he failed by 2.
Or was exactly on the money if he was going for the contiguous United States.
