The underwater myth that losing pressure in a dive suit will cause you to be sucked inside your helmet didn`t make the list?

That one scares me.

7,6 - like Duh!
5 - best to practice with someone elses hand
4 - blood redistribution?
3 - *An* elephant was mildly concerned about *a* mouse
2 - ok
1 - is this because swearing is aggressive and pain`s easier to deal with in an aggressive state? Anyway - not swearing, but using trick mind techniques - can be better still.

Yaezakura replied:
Elephants aren`t actually scared of mice. They are fully aware that pretty much nothing on earth except for humans can hurt them. They are simply naturally gentle creatures when not given cause to be angry, and want to avoid stepping on the mouse.

handys003 responds:
Sorry honey the Wild African Bush and Forest elephants can, and have been hostile more frequent than you may think. They are notorious for attacking and killing lions, cheetahs, leopards, snakes, primates, and their own if not in the family. Not just humans alone. They stress over any possible threat to the clan. If you want to see such just look along the cheeks, and the ears by a musthy secretion of fluid from the temporal glands. Elephants have been known to kill even rhinos (another bad ass), and next to the hippo are considered one of the worlds most dangerous animals. Stop looking at the broken domesticated type in the zoo. Go to Africa.

Who says elephants aren`t that bright? Elephants are incredibly intelligent and exhibit a level of self-awareness you generally don`t see outside of homo sapiens.
iirc: they used a small, non-mousie looking object as a control, and it did NOT cause the elephants any distress.
Maybe because it was an *object*, i.e. not alive. Elephants aren`t that bright, but they do have good senses. They can tell "small living animal" from "small non-living object".
The Romans (correct me if I`m wrong) used elephants for warfare for a while.
I`ll correct you.

Elephants were most famously used *against* the Romans by the great Carthaginian general, Hannibal.

The only ones that surprised me were the elephant and the ultrasound ones, and the elephant one wasn`t that surprising once I thought more about it. It would be hard for an elephant to squash a mouse because they`re such a small target and how is the elephant to know for sure that they`re not dangerous? There are plenty of small poisonous creatures. Better to be cautious and avoid them.

Well the Myth Busters put on a good show. However I did not see the whole sequence on the elephant section. They got excited over a mouse causing an elephant to move. Well I got news for those two. It`s not the movement of an object it`s identification. They move around snakes, lions, humans etc...also. They do have a level of intelligence of their surroundings, and can tell thediffrence between a turd and a mouse.

Fact is in India and Thailand where elephants are domesticated. They tolerate the mice and the monkeys etc... You can train an elephant to stand up to a tiger.

Lastly elephants are unnerved, and more easily spooked like horses at sudden high pitched sounds. Elephants prefer low bass sounds as communications. Some are which inaudible to the human ear.

@intrigid

Do you REALLY want to repeat the results yourself?

It`s kinda funny history. The Romans (correct me if I`m wrong) used elephants for warfare for a while. That was until someone discovered that squealing pigs caused them to lose their 5h17 . Let`em loose and the entire column catastrophically and fatally collapse on itself.

Wait. Were the myths "proved", or were they "busted by the pros"? Mistake in the description I see.
