Man, what a tragedy. That being said, this looked like it could`ve been an alternate context for Cloverfield.

Was it just me, or were there an unusually high number of hot guys walking around Christchurch?

    I`m moving to Christchurch.

Oh, and the earthquake looked bad, too.

Dang it, I wish I could find the video that appeared in Chilean news last week. There was a five-or-six-point-something earthquake in a big town near where the nine-point-whatever earthquake was last year...
The video showed everything moving around, and then these two guys just resting on a wall, being cool, not caring at all.

Eh, call me a dick, my heart isnt broken

Over 100 people died, but I`ll bet you on that same day twice that number died regardless of the quake

A DISASTER is when the death rate spikes into the thousands, like the quakes in pakistan or that tsunami

This is unfortunate, but calm down, its not apocalyptic

@notorious: you realize that there`s still an estimated 300 people trapped in the wreckage?

I get what you`re saying, but still....

Oh 100 deaths, well that`s more serious of course.

It looks like just the older buildings took damage.

@LazyMe484 Its much worse than it looks.. There are lots of iconic buildings that are demolished and homes ruined. There are worse pictures out there than shown in this particular video. In our country of only 4.2 million people it will cost over 17 billion dollars in damages.

@notorious - you are a dick, a disaster is a disaster no matter how many people lose there lives. Wait until some poo like this happens in your town, I will bet your balls that you will be calling it a disaster then.

I`ve been to India (Im indian, and I have family + a house there) and got stuck there during landslides. Our car almost went over the edge and one 6-7 cars up did. 300 people died, I knew 2 of them, but it didnt get on the news. Of course I feel bad people died, but its not a catastrophe. This stuff happens all the time all over the world, the story is only a "heartbreaking" as the media wants to make it

why, do I know you from a clan or online?

A disaster does not need a significant loss of life to qualify, it can just be from a large amount of physical damage to buildings and structures.

After the Northridge quake (California) the apts. across the street from me just pancaked & collapsed. People, who didn`t even all speak the same language, found the gas main & started trying to turn it off, others started sifting for survivors, & still others started bringing blankets, towels, water, etc.. No discussion, just doing. I`m sure the people of Christchurch are pulling together to help each other, & I pray that all the missing are found. F*ck eathquakes in their nasty seismic asses.

I guess it is because we are such a small country and everyone knows somebody affected by the quake - dead, missing, homeless, or otherwise.

I just got off a game of Black Ops on xbox live, playing with some of my Kiwi buddies. There was one American in the party who was telling us that the Christchurch `quake was nothing, they had one back in the 90s in California which was like, 9.3. The reason it was so big was that it was actually down in the earth`s mantle, and his uncle was working on a military base at the time, and the quake literally caused the whole base to be swallowed up by the earth, there`s nothing there anymore. Oh, and the San Andreas fault split open, by like, 60 feet. So the Kiwis should suck it up, they don`t know sh*t about earthquakes.

Sad thing is, I`m pretty sure he wasn`t even trolling. He believed that shiz.

One more reason to be careful out there online: There`s no IQ test required.
