@handys003 LMFAO! That car one is brilliant!

@Kuni No China`s pollution problem is much worse. They even have problems with illegal landfills popping up all over the place because people don`t have anywhere to go with their trash! They`ll figure it out though eventually, just growing pains. My point is China is no where near the ideal place to live right now, even if their economy is growing at a impressive rate, I would not want to live there.

Here`s what I think of China. They have a SERIOUS pollution problem caused by overpopulation and in the future their "one baby" policy is going to make an even more SERIOUS problem with the old outnumbering the young by A LOT.

Because the United States is the leader of the free world and the single most powerful country in the world. We can`t afford to not have a powerful foreign policy. Alothugh I do believe that we are *slightly* too active, I still support our actions.

Take what a biased opinion? I`ll tell you what a lot of people here think. We think they have an outdated form of government that dosen`t care about it`s citizens in the least. It`s consistently show us this by violating human rights, encouraging dismal wages to keep workers as slaves, no concern for pollution standards or worker saftey and health don`t belive me look up working conditions for the majority of jobs over there. On top of that they have violated numerous trade agreements/Laws(not sure how to put it) by cutting cost on things like childrens toy with toxic substances want see another great example take a steel product from China and any other country good ones a nail and strength test it with one from any other place it`s night and day Chinese steel is abysmal and will eventually cause some sort of disaster.

Yea you *DO* realise that there are like 180,000,000 in Indonesia most of the population of a south east asian country, as much as china has a small muslim community so aren`t a islamic country, there are still 20,000,000 or so(small compared to the population) Muslims =/= middle east you made a worse generalisation than the one you thought you were correcting.

I got a good laugh off their comments on democracy... Yes, it should be common knowledge that democracy, communism, etc. have all been tried and tested. The fact is none of them work the best and none of them work the worst, my main problem was that they saw their form of government is under attack. Hell, democracy is under attack if you think about it.

My wife has been dealing with visitors from China for quite awhile. She has noticed that really they are the ugly American version of the Asian countries. They are rude, aggressive, demanding as consumers. Many times insensitive not only to whom their dealing with, but also toward each other. They are also very racists even among themselves both in caste and race.

popsiclemyk- wtf man. You are an idiot. How ignorant can you be? Did you watch the video? They had the slightest of Chinese accents, and also a British accent. They were very well spoken and understandable. It is people like you who generate hate the world over- people who do not tolerate other people they don`t know or understand, and refuse to try to learn. It is what make racism and hate- ignorance. Open your damn mind and learn something.

Anywho. I thought they were well spoken, but I agree that they were "brainwashed." or maybe they did not want to really say what they thought. It was the comments on "democracy is fine, but China is different" or the "China is different" being used to refute comments, with no explanation of HOW China is different that make me wonder

Fascinating to learn what the youth of China thinks of America...
Here`s what I think of China. The government is cruel. There is a lack of freedoms that should be there for ALL people. Whether you are the "Chinese people" or not. Religion, for instance. Then, when laws are broken, people are tortured. Just my opinion, that is WAY TOO FREAKING HARSH.
You own Shinto writings? Death. -_-

In any way, facing the reality, no one country will ever rule the world in our, or even our childrens lifetime. It`s just not a possiblity at this point. Complete and total armageddon is more likely to occur then the Chinese ruling the world.

This topic interests me so if anyone would like to voice their opinion, it would be much appreciated.

Pros:
1. At the beginning, they seemed to differentiate between the US government and the populace.
2. It`s a valid argument that some world governments can`t handle democracy as the US can establish it with forced regime change from the outside. It is naive and irresponsible (maybe not cute) to think that because our political ideals are the best(IMO) that implementing them forcefully in other countries is a workable or worthwhile strategy.
3. Recognized failures of Chinese state and the need for continued moves towards democracy.
Cons:
1. The eventual devolution of their commentary about US foreign policy into a judgment about American citizens.
2. Way more patient with their own government regarding personal freedoms and human rights than I am with mine, and yet theirs arguably has a worse record. It makes me think they`re more isolated from the negative aspects of it than other folks in China.

What I find funny is that they talk about not getting involved in the business of other countries and how individuals can`t be judged by their governments, but what prevents a country that takes away the freedoms of its citizens from taking away the freedoms of other countries, and why defend a government that subjugates individuality when you think of yourself as an individual?

Wow, reading these comments has made me lose a lot of my faith in humanity. I posted this so we can point and laugh at the hypocrisy of some of China`s brightest students, how they vilify the United States as imperialist yet justify their own imperialism through fallacious relativism. But most of you are thinking they must be right because they "sound smart" and they criticize America. This is the next generation of the "dirty capitalist pigs" slogan. It`s much more subtle and it plays on the average person`s inability to objectively analyze arguments. What`s really disappointing is that some of you agreeing with the students here also completely supported what they are referring to as "imperialism" on the gumballs video.

It`s been proven in the past that Communism does not work unless executed perfectly, in which case it becomes the best economic system. The only problem is that Communism can NOT be executed perfectly because of A) the necessity of leadership, and B) the fallibility of humans. Because of this, Communistic systems tend to destroy themselves with relative haste. Granted, Capitalism has it`s own flaws, but I`d venture to state that the boundaries of Capitalism are more easily overcome than those of Communism.

I completely agree with them that America needs to stop dealing with other countries business though, unless specifically requested or unless that country poses a threat to America or it`s political allies. WMD`s were a legitimate threat back in 2001 because of the fact that we didn`t know for sure and that it isn`t worth it to take the chance. Now that we know what`s actually going down in Iran, we need to kind of leave them to their own business, though I know currently t

oh how they criticize "western values" while simultaneously embracing them! That is too much.

The Chinese government will ultimately collapse due to a fundamental flaw in human nature known as nationalism. In Europe, do you think it matters at all if you`re French or Spanish or German? Do you think there is some fierce rivalries going on? There is no "us" and "them" because such things don`t mean anything - when, due to the interconnected nature of the society, it is so easy just to pack your bags and move. When actions against one compound and become actions against everyone, including yourself.

With China and communism it is a whole other matter. You`re obliged to accept this whole "us" and "them" mentality because your system depends on it. No one leaves, everyone pulls together. Sure, your government is more decisive, your economy is more efficient, but your people are less free and - statically speaking - unhappy.

@lingh0e Anyone on this continent north of the equator is a NORTH AMERICAN and to the south is SOUTH AMERICA. That means Canadians, are Americans, Guatemalans are Americans, hell even Peruvians are Americans. Just because you incorporate it into your country`s name, doesn`t mean you`re the only Americans on the planet. The only reason people call you American is because United Statian sounds moronic, and frankly the only people who refer to the US as `America` are Americans.

Also you have to keep in mind that these people are a minority within that society. They`re obviously very well educated and probably also wealthy. that video did not convey the perspective that the caption led me to originally believe. those students were smart and had intelligent answers, and none of the questions asked led them to say anything about people in the US being "pigs". they said that people in the US are naive (alot are) but people in china are naive as well... all people in the world are naive. they are just comfortable with what they have grown up with, as are we, and they do have a point, we should not be going into other countries to try and "fix" them. we need to fix us.

notice how hypocritical they are with their cultural relativism. If it`s the US doing something in another country, it`s violating other people`s right to "do their own thing". If China does something in other countries, it`s China`s right to "do their own thing". These are some obviously very bright people with some extremely ignorant opinions. Just a sign of the brainwashed political apologetics (though I don`t think those opinions are necessarily their own, if you notice how they all squirmed in their seats when "freedom of speech" was mentioned).
What really bothered me was when she butchered Churchill`s quote "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others" to somehow be conveying relativism, when it is clearly intentioned to mean the opposite (you might not like democracy, but it`s better than your sh*tty government).

Notice how I didn`t call the US `America`? Because the entire continent is America. It`s actually the US of A and as a NORTH AMERICAN, I tend to find it a bit annoying.
