"As for your advice for me to "read a book", short of reading a gun manual I fail to see how that would educate me in gun technology."

Or you could read a book on the evolution of fire arms. Or read you could pick up the "G" or "F" section of the encyclopedia and flip around in it. You could ask someone who might be knowledgeable. You could watch one of the history channels many shows about firearms. Or since you are already on the internet you could do a little research on it. There`s lots of options.

and your attitude that something is so simple and primitive that it is below you and your "modern" life is annoying.

Don`t you ever think of how stupid and primitive a computer is sometimes? Using a minuscule electrical current to activate switches, The technology has barely changed since the days of Z machines and punch cards. I really don`t understand why the Western world has such a fixation on them. Surely in these modern times you don`t need to email someone to talk to them.

I`d stick in a card that says "screw black people" and just see if anyone jumps out in a rage.

@Nighthack Well you`re right. Coming from England I really don`t know a lot about guns. But I`m aware that they have changed since the days of muskets. My point still stands though, all these "improvements" and still it is an explosion driving a piece of metal into whatever you`re aiming at. As for your advice for me to "read a book", short of reading a gun manual I fail to see how that would educate me in gun technology. And not that it matters, but I do read.

If anyone is looking at this post, thinking, "Hmmm, that doesn`t look all that unsafe to me", I`d like to tell you about a great investment opportunity that I have for you! Just hit me up IM-style and I`ll tell you where to send the money, er, I meant, your *investment*. ;-)

you don`t know much about guns, that is very obvious. First off, a 9mm is not even close to the weakest gun you can carry. 32`s have much less muzzle velocity and yet still have stopping power. By comparison, a 9mm is much more powerful. While it is not the most powerful handgun out there, it has more than enough power to penetrate ANY part of the human body, including the skull (which only takes 10psi to do) or the sternum, which is the closest part of the body to natural armor.

many cops (have 4 in my family) carry 9mm. Why? because they have ample stopping power, are lightweight and highly accurate at more than 25 yards, which for a handgun is very good.

learn something about guns, then make the comment.

Ah, America. The land where everyone has a handgun in their car. America, god bless you. If only every vehicle had a loaded gun hidden in the glove-box, the world would be so much better than it is now. There`d be no crime for a start.

Right?

Right.

9mm rounds are like BB`s? Have you seen 9mm rounds? They`re no 45`s, but they make 22`s look like tinker toys, which makes BB`s look like...well, nothing.

Anyone who takes a shot from a 9mm in the torso has a very good chance of getting a critical wound, as with 45`s. Sounds to me like someone has a size complex.

So I can come and shoot you a couple times with a 9mm? No problem right? it`s just a bb gun

"Not if you`re packing a couple of 9mm`s."

You mean the weakest gun you can carry? 9mm is like a pellet gun. If you want to do any damage you have to empty the entire clip and then some.
