Fret not, Taco Bell lovers. All that talk about the Bell"s meat being less than 35%? A lie. And they"re suing the liars.

Ha. I got this in my newspaper a few days ago. It made me giggle.

That being said, we have really good Mexican food places here (and plenty of them). :D I don`t know why anyone would go to Taco Bell. I`m guessing for the prices, but still...

I miss the days when you could have $10 in your pocket, eat a feast at Taco Bell, and still have enough left for half a tank of fuel in the car.

I just got the 12 fresco soft tacos for $10, they were very good. I like the fresco menu because it`s non dairy but has meat, my exact diet. Also taste and has cocoa.

They`re amazing. I love them, so much...

I was pissed when they cranked the f*cking price up to $1.30.

That said, Taco Bell is NOT real Mexican food... I`ve had real Mexican food, at a real Mexican friend of mine`s home, and I prefer Asian food. Except Tortillas. Tortillas are awesome.

chili & chocolate is awesome, When making my chili, after draining the fat from my browned meat, I add 2/1 chili powder/chocolate, and let it coat the meat & roast a bit before adding the rest. Try it!
@Crakr, I sure remember slicing the olives with that tiny little knife, Remember the "World Series of speed" & 4 second tacos?

@popsiclemyk- Have you ever had Mexican food anywhere besides Taco Bell? Because I find it hard to believe that you could be comparing Taco Bell to any other Mexican food when you say it`s "awesome." I can think of one Mexican restaurant chain that is worse: Muchas Gracias in the Northwest. I would definitely rather eat at Taco Bell than Muchas Gracias.

cocoa, or more commonly, unsweetened chocolate, is often used in mexican cooking

I do not eat the meat there. Not because of what I`ve been told but because of what I smelled. I used to work there and the heating process of the meat made it stink so bad. Makes me sick thinking about it.

Yeah they should rethink that texture part, and maybe change the ingredients to get rid of that sickening smell. Taco bell "beef" is disgusting.

ohplease: Yup, I can still remember chopping all the onions and tomatoes in a wall mounted dicer, and hand cutting black olives, out of a huge can, into 3 equal slices.

I wish they bring back the olives and the green onions.

"Chocolate or Cocoa is VERY commonly added to chilli based dishes and has been for many years."

And vice versa - chili has been added to cocoa and chocolate for centuries. A dash of chili powder in hot cocoa is amazing.

I know what cocoa powder is... I`m a cook. I use it all the time, but I can`t remember ever using it on anything but desserts or for some breakfast foods (I use it to make chocolate pancakes and in the crust on top of my chocolate muffins.)

@taylor_stone: Cocoa powder is a commonly used item in some mexican style dishes and a lot of chilis use cocoa powder. Cocoa powder is bitter and not very good by itself. It`s not sweet like a hershey`s bar because it`s not sweetened with a ton of sugar.

Never eaten at an LA taco cart, but there are lots of them in Portland (where I live now) and Eugene (where I used to live). Burrito Boy (in Eugene) isn`t great, but way better than TB.

sbeelz is right. You can get better tacos from a cart in LA than any Taco Bell. I wish they had those carts here.

For those of you concerned about the oats. It is used as a thickener. It is a common practice in cooking. Kind of like how you add more pancake mix or flour if it is too runny.

Anyone here saying that Taco Bell has "awesome" or "the best" burritos obviously does not live in a town that has good Mexican food. I haven`t been to a single burrito cart in my city that doesn`t have better food than Taco Bell.

so did they just give away their 12% secret recipe....is the "not so secret recipe" not the secret recipe and if not then their "not so secret recipe" that =(12%)is added to "Real Beef" that = (88%) plus their "secret Recipe" that = another (12%)...so Taco Bells Beef = 112% of greatness.... and if the "not so secret recipe" is the "secret recipe" they just gave it away, so why not just call it a Recipe?

I`ve eaten tacos from roadside stands in Mexico. Probably old cat or aborted fetuses.

Taco Bell is the safest taco I`ve probably every had. I don`t worry about whether there is caulking in it or not.

Now, you take Jack-in-the-Box tacos. 2 for a dollar. That meat looks like baby poo.... I still eat it of course but I try not to look at it.

Oh crap I have something in common with Crakr. I too used to work at the "bell" it was all fresh back then. 14lbs. of pinto`s, 2lbs of lard, cup a salt, 4-1/2 gals of water haha I still remember. We got fresh beef every other day.

@TrivialSteve-EXACTLY! you don`t go to Taco-Bell for fine quality dining. The company bears the nickname "Taco-Hell" for a reason. We all know what we`re getting into when we decide to chow down on their food. People just need something to gripe about, apparently. (Haha, like I just realized that.)

How often do you think Taco Bell`s president`s name is mispronounced "Greg Greed"? Bottom-line: if you`re going to Taco Bell for 100% beef, you`re an idiot. You go for the faux-Mexican food deliciousness. And the oats.

I used to work in a Taco Bell, back in the day when the lettuce and cheese was shredded on site, the beans and meat were prepared from raw ingredient, and the taco shells were fried by hand.

I know things have changed a lot since then, lettuce and cheese come pre-shredded, the beef and beans come in boil-in bags, and the shells arrive pre-fried now.

But the food still tastes the same, and I was highly skeptical of the claim that Taco Bell`s `seasoned beef` was only 33% meat.

It`s not that I trust companies to not screw us, It`s that what I order there still tastes the same. I don`t care how well you season oats or soy beans, that wouldn`t taste like beef to me.

whatever the truth and outcome of this whole crap is taco bell is going to come out the winner so why even bother bringing it up?
