i enjoy goinging to ikea, while i hate feeling like a dick in the apple store becuase my ipod`s broken and i can`t fix it. Aslo my wardrobe + bed + cactus is less than what i pay for than my two ipods that run out of warrenty and my third one. and all the money i spent when i felt nice enough to get music legally. ahh i hate apple.

"Who gives a flying f`ck whether a company gives to charity or not?"
Because it shows they are willing to put their extra money to good use instead of selfishly hoarding millions. It shows character

I laughed a bit at the "know(n) for" part... with the prices of iPad and such, not everyone can afford these things. Not anyone in his right mind i mean.

Thank Apple for Windows - Bill Gates stole the idea from Apple when they tried to recruit him. Talk about piracy! Also Palm Pilot, PDA`s BB`s- all originated with the Apple Newton...

Ingvar Kamprad has the worlds largest charity that he uses to avoid taxes. He`s a selfish dirtbag. Jobs may also be a dirtbag he`s just not conning the public with a fake charity.

Jobs is a pretentious proto-hipster douche.

Ingvar`s ancestors were Vikings.

VIKINGS!

"Ingvar Kamprad uses his "charitable" foundation to avoid taxes?!? Screw him Jobs wins!"

Steve "Moneywhore" Jobs doesnt even give to charity? Ingvar Kamprad may or may not (it is inconclusive) use his charity to avoid taxes? JOBS LOSES. Plus he created Macs, so he really loses. PC > > > > > > MAC

Ikea is a useful shop, some stuff is excellent and cheap, other things are not so good. I choose not to buy from Apple, but why someone would `hate` them is beyond me- if you do not like their product, or dislike the companies ethics then do not buy their products.

Honestly, anyone can sell furniture. If it wasn`t IKEA, it`d be somebody else. Jobs is pushing technology forward, which is going to have a much greater long-term value for humanity.

...and this is coming from an Apple hater.

@xmastree_ph: with a Family card ;)
I own quite a bit of ikea stuff, I`ve found that if you look closely at stuff, you can pretty much tell what will stay together well and what is sturdy from the crap.
I also live in a house with 4 ipods. We own more ikea stuff than apple though so I can rest easy.

Ikea FTW.
I have a fair amount of Ikea stuff, but not one Apple product.
You can spend half a day in an Ikea store, and even get free coffee (weekdays). An Apple store will only hold your attention for about ten minutes.

I have two items in my flat from IKEA and own nothing from Apple. Apple may have the best products but there are cheaper alternatives - some just as good, like cell phones. The iPhone is not the best cell phone, and it is overpriced.

@ Padiddle: That`s actually quite common among CEO`s. They more than make up for it with perks, bonuses, and dividend payouts from their stock in the company.

Speaking as a dedicated Apple user, even I know that Steve Jobs isn`t the most personable person in the world. He`s been called ruthless, cold, and distant, all excellent qualities for a CEO of a cutting-edge company, but poor for a human being.

@Padiddle: He`s paid out in bonuses and stock options, the $1 is just for accounting and tax purposes so that he can remain on Apple`s health insurance. Listing his salary as $0 would bork all the accounting spreadsheets.

IKEA is great- it`s like a furniture themed amusement park. Apple produces overpriced electronics that don`t outperform much cheaper products as much as Steve wants you to think.

TLDR, mostly cause steves jobs life was basically handed to him on a silver, no wait, a gold plate emcrusted with diamonds. But the IKEA guy was pretty interesting, he built his entire company from the ground up (get it?!) throught shear hard work.
