Just for the record, this is real stop motion and it`s made by the same guys who made the amazing "8-bit trip" video.

Why don`t they ever show a clear transition between random coins with the organised, animated coins, there`s always a cut or change in camera angle.

Rather than show that bit at the end, on how they supposedly did this, why didn`t they film a time-lapse of the entire process...because it was all animated on computer.

Yeah, totally not stop-motion.

At least not by the way they showed in the end.

I thought it was computer work until I saw how they did it in the end. That wouldn`t be hard at all, just extremely time consuming. Props to them. o.o I like it.

@intrigid

You`re totally right.

It`s obvious at about 2:05 when the guy on the left is dancing. As he dances, and the coins disappear and reappear, all the misalignments stay exactly the same.

"Clearly they`re misrepresenting themselves, so I`m going to assume that they did it in the easiest way possible. They simply took one photograph of a full mat of coins and blanked out the appropriate coins for each frame."

That is absolutely not the easiest way possible, by any means.

Until it came to the explanation at the end, I figured it was almost certainly created entirely on a PC and edited onto a background picture of the floor.

To be honest, that`s practically what they did anyway, albeit by an incredibly circuitous route.

It`s quite a nice effect, but the method of creating it would have been so very regimented that it really doesn`t say anything about their stop motion skills at all, it says something about their computer animating skills, and their creativity in finding a way to transfer the animated footage into a real-world accessible format.

I normally loathe people who shout "FAKE" at every single impressive/incredible thing see on the internet. However, on this, I`m going to have to call shenanigans. Here is why...

Pick a spot on the video. Look at three or four coins that are slightly out of alignment with the nearby coins. Just about anywhere on the mat will be fine since all the coins seem to be slightly misaligned. Put your mouse cursor on that spot so you don`t lose track of it. Watch the coins light up and disappear over the course of the video. You`ll notice that their slight misalignment remains exactly the same throughout the entire video! There`s no reason why this would be the case if they were really rearranging the coins frame-by-frame as they claim.

Clearly they`re misrepresenting themselves, so I`m going to assume that they did it in the easiest way possible. They simply took one photograph of a full mat of coins and blanked out the appropriate coins for each frame.

i woulda watched this if it didn`t lag. the first instance of lag gets a video closed and unwatched. and its not my end causing the lag, either. only certain videos lag
