@ KEgomatix

You`ve never gotten anything like that because you`re probably not 12 and don`t text some stupid word to a number to try and win a PS3, IPOD, etc...

But yes it exists, you see commercials all the time for things like `text the word funny to this number to receive a daily joke via txt`. Next thing you know, spam city.

Because I was distracted, I gave the guy at the Wal*Mart pharmacy my cell phone number. Wal*Mart`s stupid automated thing told me my prescription was ready.. then I sent back "STOP" as I was directed to. It texted me twice more, with me saying "STOP" every time, before it finally shut the hell up. Then my phone crapped out, so I got a new phone and number.

The law firm that I work at has made millions upon millions for suing corporations that spam phones and email. I love it, get those f*ckers!

The UK has a global opt-out service that actually works. One phone call, no more phone spam...from the UK. I`m now getting some USA phone spam. What for? I`m thousands of miles away. I don`t care. I`m not a potential customer.

The most irritating ones are where the spam is an automated message. Yay, now your machine can leave a message on my machine telling me to press 1 for some con or another. What is this crap all about? Annoying me won`t make me buy things from you.

When I become President of the World, my first decree is going to be announcing spamming in any form whatsoever to be a criminal offence. Punishable by chemical castration.
Hate to tell you this, but by responding you have verified your phone number is a valid contact. Your spam will greatly increase now. Bad move.
True dat. Same reason why you should never leave an "out of office auto-reply" on your work email if you can possibly avoid it.

"Does this work on the actual calls from telemarketers too?"

I hope so. I never really get telemarketers on my cell phone though...
