re: taylor stone. Actually, Captain America started with the chevron shield and was given the round shield later on in the war. Hopefully, they`ll do the same in the movie.

So they used a knockoff of Captain America`s WWII outfit, but gave him the NEW AGE shield? Anyone have any intel as to what timeframe the movie takes place in?

The incontinuity in all these comic based movies needs to stop because it alienates true fans of the comics. Its one thing to write a story board for the film that doesnt exist in the comic, but changing important details, such as origin stories, is just wrong. That would be like someone making a movie about Jesus and changing his birthplace to a tool shed in downtown Chicago... Christians would see it and riot....

NOBODY outside of the USA is going to go and see this movie.

Ironically, it was filmed in part in Manchester, UK.

If its set in the 30`s and 40`s what the f*ck is up with the soldiers behind him? Did they just warp in from the Zeta Flux terminal from 2145 or something? I don`t know. I really thought they`d be more careful with a Captain America movie than this. Hopefully it will have a decent story anyhow... oh, wait...

It is set in the 30s or 40s, which explains the style of the suit.

looks horrible
especially the helmet thing
but i guess considering the actual comic book suit there isnt really a way to make it look both good and true to the comic

but im really intrigued by the battle suits or giant death robots behind him

Not totally convinced by Chris Evans for this, have to keep reminding myself how good he was in Sunshine. Suit looks OK, though I suspect it will evolve. Anyhoo, Thor next, then this, then XMen (not sure its connected) then Avengers. Cool Beans.

@auburnjunky - apparently, according to wikipedia, the scale is actually underneath his costume, which is a fire-retardant material. What his costume looked like in the past usually varies, but was generally what amounted to what a special ops/commando outfit, with red, white, and blue on it. IIRC, he preferred to stand out, because it`d draw fire to him - his shield was bulletproof, and armor bullet resistant - and would keep the regular soldiers safer.

So, he did have a "super" suit - just by the time he`d awakened, they could make it more "super".

I also don`t think this picture is from before he gets "iced", because the gear those guys in the back are wearing doesn`t look at all like anything you`d see in the 1940`s.

@ston:

He didn`t have the scale armor at the very beginning though. I think this pic is from before he went sleepies.

He didn`t get the super outfit until he was awakened right?

While it`s not the scale mail type armor that Cap originally wore in the comic, this seems more in tune with the time period. It looks like a modified paratrooper outfit.

Regarding the shape of the shield, the kite shield was only in Captain America Comics #1 (published by Timely comics) - in the very next issue, it was the round shield.

But to casual movie-goer.....

(also, I am a dork for Deadpool, and there is a chance Reynolds doing GL will put it on the shelf.)

"I think it`s dumb that Marvel is using the same actor as Fantastic 4. What happens if they want the Fantastic 4 and Avengers to be in one movie?"

Marvel is directly making this one. They were only producers of the F4 movies.

Although, it`s kinda the same question I have with Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool/Green Lantern. WTF?

The super soldiers look kind of stupid. Hopefully some CGI touch-up will make them look more intimidating and less like Iron Man`s awkward cousins. Also, I think this style for Capt. America is, like Farsidedown said, more realistic and in my opinion more appealing than another disturbingly tight latex costume.

I think it`s a solid costume in that it makes the actor (who they should be picking for his talent, not for his muscles) look far more jacked than he actually is. Some kind of latex suit during the 1940`s would look utterly ridiculous. As for the comments about the shield, the round version is far more recognizable to your average person than-should I call it-the classic version. That, and if the last Captain America movie is any indication, it`s far more throwable.

As for the super soldiers in the background? Well, they just look ridiculous.

It`s pretty good - as for the shield, I thought everyone knew it was going to be round when it had a brief cameo in Iron Man 2? You`ve had plenty of time to get over it, fanboys.

Now then, let`s all slate the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern outfit instead.
