all nonsense aside, f your kid tax. im not paying extra because i had a child when I was damn ready and able to support him.

Notice i did not say it. I hate kid-haters. You all suck. I like kids and you can all go to Toys-r-us when you die. So there.

And you can`t even say bad things about these people. You can`t insinuate they should have their children taken away(even thought they`re clearly not responsible enough to manage children) because it`s "insensitive". You can suggest a tax should be put into place for every child you have as to dissuade people from having children because it`s "OMG COMMUNISM" (even though that`s not what communism is). You can`t even educate these people as clearly IT`S NOT WORKING. The only thing to do is hope these people have lives filled with misery.

"don`t they know there is abortion?
condoms, pills , etc...
Ignorance and church going is not a good mix. "

You know, I get sick of it when people decide that teen pregnancy is the fault of the church. So, here, think about this for a few minutes: Premarital sex is a sin according to the church. Yet, they are obviously ignoring it. They are picking and choosing which church directives to listen to. All they want to do is to be able to say to their peers that they aren`t a virgin, or that they had X number of girl/boyfriends. It`s all about bragging rights to their peers. The church doesn`t enter into their thoughts until it comes to the part where the guy doesn`t want to put the condom on. THEN church directives about birth control come to mind, only because the guy is too selfish to think of anything else.

There`s a saying in the Southern U.S.: Even the devil can quote scripture.

@NotTHATbored...
back in the 1930s the US government forcibly sterilized mentally retarded and mentally ill people. there was a bill in congress to sterilize people who received government aid(welfare and such) at the time we did not have the temporary birth control we have today. I have always thought that as a stipulation of receiving welfare for any extended amount of time should come with mandatory birth control for as long as you need aid.

How about we put contraceptives in their water and school lunches? I doubt this has as much to do with religion as those of you want to belive and more with a future career on the welfare train don`t belive it go to that area and look how they and most of their parents get money...

duffytoler: Yup, It`s straight up inner city ghetto, duffy. If you want to know where Jerry Springer and Maury Povich get most of their guests, It`s Memphis. Sometimes Chicaghetto and East St. Louis as well.

These kids don`t know how to read a book, let alone a bible. So quit blaming religion.

@Gerry1of1 really?! I guess California must be footing the bill for that because federal funds are supposed to be limited for stuff like that and I know if PA things aren`t like that at all.

That said these girls aren`t from California so they`ll probably won`t have it so easy.

I`m not against sex ed or anything, but really, getting pregnant or preventing getting pregnant isn`t rocket science. I hate when they try and blame the schools for crap like this. 90 girls in one school isn`t a coincidence either. Tards.

They should learn proper sex education from a young age, both boys and girls. @asnodeus I totally agree that they should be giving out free contraceptives and a nursery would be good but there`s the risk that kids will just think `it doesn`t matter if I get pregnant I`ll just put them in the nursery.`

Male 2,389
my high school actually had a nursery at the school, which was part of certain curriculum. Still doesn`t make it right. The best part was when she found out she was pregnant,"It happens". Hello? you`re 16! Well at least she`s still (trying)going to school.

IMO they should:
1. Make a nursery at the school so they can still attend class and all.
2. Free F..nG condoms. EVERYWHERE.

BTW I loved the part when they asked her if it was a pact or something. :)

if you don`t think that this is caused by the religious right...you`re blind...more often than not...they are the ones condemning birth control use and praising abstinence only education...

well...it`s very difficult to stay abstinent when Taquasha`s Double D`s in that tiny Cleavage shirt is rubbing against your chest or Davontre is whispering sweet nothings into your ear...

i better stop....this is getting kind of porny...

TL;DR Abstinence doesn`t work...ask anyone who`s had sex

Don`t tell me the dumbass religious right is against condoms. Surely that`s just a pope thing! Surely! ....

"they think its cool". oh yes a drooling ball of poop and throw up that you have to watch 24/7 is so much fun at 16...i weep for my generation. speaking as a teenager. i think kids are just dumb. thats my honest opinion. the crap they show you at school (mind numbing diseases, an acutal live birth) should be enough to get it right...but its not. and i think that those kids are just dumb. the same ones that do crack are the ones getting pregnant. and becuase they think "they`re cool". it only leads the way for child neglect. the younf parent starts to see the kid as a barrier rather than their kid. "i cant do this and that becuase of HIM/HER" and when they get to be 21 and they have a 5 year old kid at home they start to resent it.

I don`t think you can really say that they are in control if they don`t have the knowledge to make informed decisions. Parents should be teaching their kids about sex, but the schools should be doing it as well because you can`t always depend on parents to do the right thing.

There are a number of fingers to be pointed around for this. The parents, the media, the school, etc. But it comes down to the kids. They are people, and they are in control of their own bodies.

"Back to the teen issue, People do what is socially allowed. I`m not saying throw them into the streets, but helping them to have positive pregnancy experiences while in High School is obviously NOT working."

While I agree with you to a point, I think it`s also important to show girls that having a baby isn`t the end of their lives, and we should push them to continue their education. Sometimes that means making certain resources available to them. When we treat them like society`s throwaways, that`s all they`ll ever be, and that`s all their kids will be.

@NotTHATbored - in California there are no benefit limits. Have another kid and get a raise, that`s how the welfare system works. Of course, illegal aliens receiving the benefit is a bigger issue than teen pregnancy here. But as the latino vote is so strong, it will never change.

Back to the teen issue, People do what is socially allowed. I`m not saying throw them into the streets, but helping them to have positive pregnancy experiences while in High School is obviously NOT working.

As for teaching them... condoms and the pill have never been more easily accessible and yet we are still having this debate.

Social Pressure... It Works.

Eek.Stupid teens.Poor babies.

Also @ Gerry1of1 there are now limits on how long you can be on welfare now, plus if they are living with their parent/parents it might be next to impossible for them to get it. Which is good, because it shouldn`t be easy to make stupid choices, and the rest of us certainly shouldn`t have to pay for it!

Seriously, teen pregnancies continue to rise as it becomes socially acceptable. It might have been cruel to the girls back in the day when they would be ostricized as sluts, but it did prevent other girls getting pregnant.

now they give you day-care at school and increase your welfare check so why not? You might even get a reality show out of it....

Minimullen34, it IS hard, in a way. Humans are still animals, and we like our sex as pleasurable as possible. Usually, that means without a condom. Now, being SMART enough to use protection is different. I think most of us are smart enough.. when we feel like it. And that is part of the sad state of humanity.. some think "Oh I`ll be okay this time; I was the last time" and BAM you gots a baby.

Birth control pills can be key.. But you have to take those like you breathe: automatically. Also, girls need to learn to say "no" and mean it, and guys need to learn to respect females. For instance, if a guy doesn`t want to use a condom and gives the girl the excuses "It feels better for us both with no condom", or "I`m allergic to latex", or "Come on, baby, I`m not gonna let anything bad happen to you" or some crazyness like that, then that`s just tricky and sad. People need to grow up and respect themselves ;)
