I can understand his ignorance but the internet was well in place far before 1994. By 1994, it had only started gaining mainstream popularity. Before that, addresses were all numbers and dots. Back then you had to be extremely tech savvy and well versed in basic and HTML coding. Now you type and address and hit enter.

Another example of the internet`s explosion, cellphones. For years Cellphones were bricks that were huge, clunky, ugly and cost about 2k a piece. Beepers were the only thing that wasn`t as expensive but back then, these cellular devices only sent and recieved calls. Now they`re a quarter of that price and look at all the poo they can do. I think we`ve hit the end of the rope with the hardware. Let`s work on how we`re powering it.

And Gumbel...dude, remember to ask questions like that off-camera, that way you don`t look like an idiot seventeen years later

After reading the comments, I am pleased that despite the large generational gap, we all agree on one thing; Bryant Gumble is a douchebag!

1994? I was 28.

And had internet access via Compuserve dial-up... 4800 baud modem.

I laugh when I hear kids complaining about how "slow" their internet is. They haven`t a clue.

Manoman, those were the days. Before the internet we would amuse ourselves by doing things like reading, going outside, or watching television with our families. The only people we classified as friends were people we actually knew and liked to be around.

Prodigy. My family had Prodigy on a PS/2 - am amazing day for me as a child. I used it to download information about the Iraq War I. It was cool as hell for a kid, and sparked my never-ending love of technology.

There was no internet in my high school. I think we got AOL at home my senior year, but it was still a per hour cost structure, and all we used was AOL content. My computer wasn`t fast enough or didn`t have enough RAM to process web pages. I used my graduation money to buy a Packard Bell computer that was a Pentium I and subscribed to The Microsoft Network (I only did this because they had exclusive rights to Startrek.com). I had to buy a book called "The Pocket Guide to the Internet" to figure out what the actual internet was outside of the AOL pre-packaged version.

Graduating from undergrad. Still used an i386 based computer that had like 16 or 24 colors. It used a graphical environment called geoworks that I still think was better than windows and had a dot matrix printer that printed about a page per minute. And...I thought it was awesome when I got a 486 based computer. You would still often boot into dos.
