...at least by NHL rules. I don`t know what league this is, but the fact that the official had a really good view of it when he signaled goal leads me to believe it`s the rule in this league as well.

Actually it doesn`t matter if he lifts his stick over the crossbar. The determining factor is where the puck makes contact with the stick. Since it made contact well below the crossbar, it is a legal goal even if he does lift it above the crossbar.

this is an awesome goal i have to admit. The novelty of it is diminished by this turning into a regular occurance in box lacrosse

Forallthose who complain that his stick was above the crossbar ...if you look at the replay over and over ...you notice that it was not he flicks the puck at the goalies head all the while leaving his stick below the cross bar

@xlnc14

That was my first thought too, high sticking but if you look again you can`t really clearly see if he raised his stack higher then the crossbar because the defense is right in the field of view.

Since moving to Canada earlier this year, I`ve tried to get into hockey. God knows I`ve tried. NFL, CFL, love it. More entertaining than "soccer", by far. I`ve even gotten into baseball since a buddy explained to me how the scoring f*cking works.

But as much as I`d like to enjoy ice hockey, personally I find watching hockey about as entertaining as watching old people f*ck.

Don`t tell the Canadian Immigration people I said that though, I have to apply for Permanent Resident status next week.

Western US? You have the LA Kings, the Anaheim Ducks, the Colorado Avalanche, Phoenix Coyotes to name a few. But, if you want to see good fans, check the fans of the original six teams, Boston Bruins, Montreal Canadiens, Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, and Chicago Blackhawks.

Gotta say, this sport is really growing on me. Wish I had a home team to root for.

The "above the crossbar" is for a deflection. Anyhow he got his stick down fast before it went into the net off the goalie.

Stick above the crossbar, no goal. If the stick stayed below the crossbar the whole time, count it.

Also, goalie`s fault for taking his eye off the puck.

Badass... he has probably practiced that and thought about it many times after a hard practice. Got a chance to use it, and we might see it again?

umm...that should be high sticking, considering his stick was above the crossbar and he was handling the puck

but crafty

I still think Ovechkin has some better goals, but this was pretty good.

He lifted it up onto his stick and bounced it off the back of the goalie`s head and in.

Pretty sly.
