I don`t care if he practices throwing passes by lobbing grenades into a pack of endangered wolves; with an arm like that, the man is redeemed! Forgiven and forgotten! (I`m gonna get so much poo for this.)

of course he turned his life around; it was his only shot of salvaging what`s left of his career. also, celebrities never actually "do the time" for thier crimes. if anyone else had done what he did, they would be in prison for several years

"Meanwhile, nobody has this much of a problem with Kobe, or OJ, or any other number of rapist/killing a-holes."

Speak for yourself, dude! I`ve got a plenty BIG problem with all of `em! Not everybody thinks you should get a pass to do the crap they`ve done just because you`re famous.

What`s sad is that he`s been charged, and paid his debt, but because it was all about poor Lassie, people are never going to let it go. Meanwhile, nobody has this much of a problem with Kobe, or OJ, or any other number of rapist/killing a-holes. What a sad double standard that animal rights are seated above human rights in some people`s psyche.

Okay, he killed dogs in a very stupid way when able to behave like the true ghetto trash that he came from. Sensitive American society got a hold of him and forced him to change (or so it seems), so it`s time to lay off. I`m not backing what he did by any means but Ray Lewis was involved with shooting a man and Donte Stallworth confessed to manslaughter while driving intoxicated and nobody bitched and whinned as much as dog lovers did about this. Michael vick got in more trouble with killing dogs than both those men combined. No wonder people hate us. We`re drating retarded.

Get over it already. They were just dogs. Stupid slobbery butt-sniffing dogs. No-manners-having, stick-fetching, hole-digging dogs.

If dogs were people they would be retarded people.

"The fact that this man has the audacity to show his face on camera says more than enough. He`s in it for the money, the bodies he leaves in his wake don`t bother him.
A man with his background should stay away from the media (and the media should stay away from him) and live out his life in anonymity."

Conidering the only skill he has is playing football, and the NFL requires players to talk to the media, I`d don`t think I blame him for talking to the media. Or for doing charity work and talking to kids about how ridiculously bad he messed up.

Let`s see, after he was convicted Michael Vick:

1) Torched his career
2) Lost tens of millions of dollars
3) Gone bankrupt
4) Spent 19 months in prison
5) Become a public pariah

He did the crime. And he did his time. Since then he`s gotten rid of every negative influence in his life, answered every question thrown at him, surrounded himself with the right people, waited patiently for his chance to come back, and run away with that chance now that it`s come. Now he`s a spokesman for the Humane Society. He`s living proof that people can come back from mistakes, even terrible ones, and become good people.

Of course he`s forgiven.

The major difference between boxing and dog fighting is you can`t ACTUALLY beat the crap out of your opponent in boxing. You have to wear gloves and you have to hit above the belt. UFC would be a closer analogy, but if it were like dog fighting than there would be a lot more bloody broken boned fighters.

If this were any regular person would they be forgiven? I don`t think so. But any regular person that has been charged with animal cruelty can and does go right back to owning more animals. I think that we should focus more on making laws to keep ANYONE that abuses animals from owning a pet ever again. It`s that simple. We don`t let pedophiles adopt children. So we shouldn`t let animal abusers get another pet. Simple as that.

Did you just lump Kanye West into the same category as Hitler? Get over your Taylor Swift Crush

G-Unit, I don`t see how the media turned him around because he got changed after he caught. No one really changes a bad trait of theirs until something really bad happens to them because of it (Drug therapy after an OD, AA after an accident, etc)

Its difficult to give a straight yes or no answer on the subject.
I love dogs too much to look past someone who has murdered over a dozen dogs, but at the same time if he truly has changed why not give him a second chance.

This was really random though, but I like debate.

Oh, be quiet. I`m not even gonna start a rant, but you know that whole `religion is like a penis` thing? It goes both ways.

"Who is this? What`s going on? Is he a hand-egg player?"

As for you, please don`t. We get it, it`s not clever, it`s stupid. It`s called football, so is the other one, get over it.

"Really? You`re from the South? Shocker"
Not everyone down there is stupid.

Vick was the football player who was found to be fighting dogs.

Personal Opinon: Forgiven when he donates half of every one of his paychecks to ASPCA and makes valiant efforts to stop animal abuse. Not just press release bullsh*t. REAL efforts.

Gunit I really don`t think you can group together child molestation and dog fighting. I love animals but you can`t compare the life of a pet to a child. Also look at countries like spain, they do far worse poo to bulls and no one seems to care about that.

Honestly, if he were to get tackled and end up paralyzed from the neck down for the rest of his life I would be perfectly okay with that. And I would also be okay with him starving until near death then nursed back only to be left to starve again. I would not feel a single feeling of guilt nor mercy for that monster.
I work at an animal shelter and we deal with dogs that are vicious because of fighting, and it is next to impossible to rehabilitate them without a very very strict regimen of training, and even then the dog may never be the same.
Then, people say he `turned his life around.` No. He did not. The media did. If he hadn`t gotten caught-and lied like fiend about it-he would still be dog fighting. He may think he turned his life around, but you can`t fix a character flaw like that. Child molesters aren`t given a good chance to redeem them selves, why should he?

I read today that Vick would like to own a dog again some day. For once, I agree with PETA. People who commit crimes against children are barred from being around children. People who commit these kinds of crimes against animals should be allowed around animals. Frankly, I`m surprised that the NFL allows him to play. But that`s pro sports for you.

How about screw you. You have no idea what you are talking about. I am the only red-blooded American Alpha-male I know that hates everything about major league sports. I don`t watch sports and don`t care about it at all. But, I do know what he did and I despise his actions. But, from what I read on the news and word of mouth is that Vick has turned himself around big time. I think he should be afforded the opportunity to show us that he can really care for a pet the right way. Need I give you any examples of people with gross wrong-doings that later turned out to benefit society?

Michael Vick is a monster. In 5 years he and his conspirators killed 13 pitbulls. These pitbulls were all killed in different ways that ranged from simple beating to death to wetting them down and electrocuting them. The ones he kept for fighting were regularly starved so they`d be hungry during a fight. He threw several house pets in the ring against trained fight dogs because he "thought it was funny". He might be an excellent quaterback, he`s just a crappy human. The quarterback days will end and then what?
0
Reply
Male 72
First off, there is no denying that what he did was a very bad thing to do and no one should kill any animal unless there is a good reason for doing so (hunting, self defense, put it out of its misery, etc.) However, I find it obvious that Vick has turned his life around for the good. He spent LOADS of time with a guy named Tony Dungy who is a very good Christian man. Now, regardless of what you think of the religion, I find it almost impossible to not get something good out of a conversation (especially multiple conversations) with someone like Dungy. Now, I know the natural reaction is to say he should be punished for what he did. The fact is that he has received his punishment and continues to suffer punishment with many still having a negative view of him. Since Michael has seemed to have become a better person I think he deserves the second chance from society.

American football has already been proven to be more important than any crime every committed. He was forgiven a long time ago, because he is an athlete and not because he was any sort of decent person. Football players regular commit murder/rape/theft/battery all the time without consequence.

I can see why some pet-owners would vehemently say no, but Vick`s okay in my book. It`s easy to fall in with the wrong people, and if he`s actually serious about changing, I`m all for it. I even hate the Eagles, but it`s so rare for a superstar to actually own up to their mistakes that it`d be nice if he was serious.

That being said, if he screws up again he`s out. Fool me once, shame on you... Fool me twice.... well you know
