ugh, I totally agree with that kid. I hate books, and if I got books for Christmas, I`d throw them down next to the clothes I got too. Although books are worse than clothes. At least clothes are useful.

How awful, his parents are actually suggesting that maybe instead of playing with his new game system and toys all the time, he should sit down for a few minutes and become literate. Truly a crime against the `merican way of life.

@macfan20

Yeah, way to be a tool. I`m 18 and I have a job to pay my cellphone and car insurance.

I also go to a university and I still have all A`s in school. I was never really spoiled so much and I actually appreciate what I have and what I get.

@macfan20: Not all people born in the last 20 years have had the luxuries that you had. I`m not saying its a bad thing that you get what you want or anything but not everyone is as blessed as you are. And actually, it is the children who didn`t have everything handed to them on a silver platter who are usually the harder workers when it comes to wanting success because they didn`t have it all and want to strive to make life better for themselves. You probably either have damn good parents in your corner to help you in life or are naturally motivated or both.

No, its the spoiled kids that have the time to devote themselves to what they want to do in life (like school) because they dont have to waste their time at work throughout the whole thing.

a lot of people in this thread are idiots. GIRLS unable to comprehend why they wanted books for presents while this BOY doesn`t.

Also, what is the purpose of books? To use your imagination right? Derr derr derr - toys do the same thing - only the story is your own which makes it that much better.

At this age reading is school work. I wonder if all the people bashing this kid would appreciate having things they have to do for work given to them as xmas gifts - same concept.

To everyone bashing the child and family - we live in a materialistic society, and anyone born in the last 20 years is used to getting what they want when they want it.
I`m a student in university, and I got mad last year when I didn`t get an iPhone for Christmas. My main gift was much more expensive; however, it was something i wouldn`t use. My parents then went out and purchased an iPhone the next week.
Some of you may say I am spoiled, but the point is that I do not settle for less then what I deem to be acceptable. It`s why I`ve worked so hard to receive scholarships for university, am at the top of my class, and just secured the highest paid internship available.
It`s often the "spoiled" kids who will work the hardest to succeed in life.

I was moderately spoiled as a child, and may very well have done something similar...that being said if my kids ever reacted that way, the only thing they would get for their birthday from me would be the DVD of that reaction.

@ madest: I grew up in just above poverty level as a child, so whatever I got from my mom from Christmas I was grateful for. I was just happy to have a warm roof over my head, clothes on my back and 3 square meals a day so I counted myself blessed. Sure I didn`t get everything I wanted but I sure as heck didn`t pitch a fit because of it.

Maybe because I actually expect parents to do their job? Yes, advertising has an effect on kids, but if you don`t want them to turn into spoiled brats then you need to limit the amount of advertising they are subjected to. They can start by not plopping little Johnny in front of the television and walking away.

I think it was cute, but I guess that means I`m going to be a bad parent. The kid was young, I don`t know of a kid that young who wouldn`t want toys instead of books. And we don`t know who`s wii that is, he could have a sibling or someone else there. But I probably would have done the same thing, and giggled at it. The way he said it was cute. oh well.

It would be cute if he wasn`t so serious and such a little poohead about it! Like at first it was cute, then he was like "I don`t get- that;s not toys!!"! and I Was like (BRAT) then the whole "So what`s in these here" thing was kinda cute, but he was serious so it wasn`t anymore.

My children will never get toys from me. I can`t control what the grandparents give, but I can control what I will give.

And I`m certain Satkela would be happy with a pair of pajamas and a book on Christmas. Santa wrote his list in 1932 and hasn`t updated it since. How about macaroni art? We`ll have your mom film your response and post it to youtube.

@HalfPintRoo: True, Christmas has become Santa`s pimped-out commercialize money land and has everyone of all ages fooled into believing that if they don`t buy! buy! buy! and make sure that the kiddies have toys and shiny new things then Christmas will be ruined...

lmao @ DixxyRarr: It`s too late for some of us though....

What do you expect kids in this spoiled self-centered country to think Christmas is? Have you turned on the television lately? Have you opened a magazine or newspaper recently? Have you not stepped foot in a store, on a bus or surfed the internet? How can kids NOT think the way they do about Christmas.

@madest:
How the hell is getting books for a kid tormenting him? If anything books should be reintroduced to today`s kids. Bad parenting is giving you`re kids nothing but toys and video games and wondering why they have terrible grades in school or why they have no motivation to do anything with their lives.

I really don`t see why the little boy is complaining, he has a Wii right next too him so apparently his gifts weren`t all that bad.

If he`s an only child then yes he is SPOILED! I`ve never seen such a huge pile of gifts in all my life! It`s also sad how this generation of kids are growing up to be total dumbasses and non-nice individuals. For one kids should be encouraged to read because it expands the mind and inspires imagination. Another thing is that kid should be lucky he even got gifts for Christmas. There are a hell of a whole lot of kids who would love to have at least one toy or book this year and some are even worse off than that! I`m not ranting all because some little kid doesn`t like what he got I`m just ashamed by how parents teach their kids to be little douchebags then exploit it. But who knows maybe they expected him to be a little happier about it.

Even when my sister wanted a lava lamp and my eldest brother got one instead (I think the justification was she could enjoy his since she was too young), she still didn`t act out like this. She didn`t act out at all, actually. This is completely the parents` fault. Encourage bad behavior for a funny video and then blame it (in the description) on him not having a nap? Good plan.

Y`know what? I think making fun of the kid was the best thing the father could have done. My parents would just beat the crap out of me if I behaved like this. What did that teach me? Well, let`s just say I haven`t gone home in months and I`m only coming home for Christmas for like a day. My siblings, on the other hand, would tease me senselessly for acting like this. I grew up, turned into a perfectly normal individual, and guess who I will be hanging out with from Boxing day to New Years? My siblings.

If you beat a kid, he grows up with fear and negativity. If you tease a kid, he`s going to have thick skin and a sense of humor.

Also, I didn`t get an iPod until I was 15. drat that kid.
