I think Kwanza died a quick and painful death already a few years ago.

Nobody celebrates it

Nobody

Festivus is doing better than Kwanza

Yep, Kwanzaa isn`t a celebration of anything. It`s a protest against Christmas which the creator of Kwanzaa felt was a white people holiday. Even though Christmas is all about a middle eastern dude, who was born near the border of Africa. Go logic.

Haha, I actually met a black Jew once 3 years back - and I know a black Buddhist.

I also work in an office with at least a simple majority of black Americans, and in our breakroom only two forms of decoration were placed with direct reference to any winter holidays: Hanukah and kwaanza (no Christmas, though most of my coworkers are undoubtedly Christian, but its euphemism - "Happy Holidays" - was by all means included). I came in the other morning to find the Kwaanza poster TORN DOWN. It lay slumped and dejected in the corner chair of the room, with complete irreverence and if anything antipathy. Who says we can`t all just get along?

its not a real holiday.Hanukkah is borderline legitimate....Kwanzaa, well...it was just made up....i don`t know a single person who celebrates it. I know more black Jews than black people who celebrate Kwanzaa....and its kind hard to find black Jews were I am.

As a kid I was jealous of Kwanzaa because I grew up in a Jewish/Catholic household so I got to celebrate Christmas and Chanukah.
If only one of my parents was black I could have Christmas, Channukah & Kwanzaa!!!!!

""you are silly for not thinking African-Americans have their own culture"

You are silly for not knowing that we are all Americans, and no matter our creed, our culture is still American culture."

and i think it`s stupid to be an immigrant country and have a melting pot society

Cultural Diversity(Cultural Mosaic) is the way to go

Kwanzaa was created by Ronald McKinley Everett AKA Maulana Ron Karenga in 1966 as a celibration of African-American heritage and culture but it was never celibrated in Africa making it not African at all just American and complete bulls**t. A few years later in 1970 Mr. Karenga, Louis Smith and Luz Maria Tamayo held two women who were staying with Karenga against their will. The trio stripped the women naked, beat them with an electrical cord and a baton. Karenga held a gun to both women threatening to shoot them. The trio put a hot soldering iron on one of the women’s face and inside her mouth. Sounds like a great guy keep celebrating his made up holiday to seperate races further.

I should switch over and celebrate Kwanza - fruit and corn I can handle - I`ve been buying and preparing stuff for the past week and a half!!! Also, I wish I was a man during the holidays becuase they don`t have to do anything. Maybe a liquor store run and a bakery stop. Where`s my medication......

As it is a wholly made up event from a few years ago, it may be hard to call it a cultural post.... or is it? thats up for debate I guess.
