I miss the 80`s even though I was born in 88. I feel like it was a fun creative time....with headbands.

Not really, it`s not a hangout anymore. Even back then you`d find more teenagers at the Glendale Galleria or Northridge Fashion Center. The earthquake forced them to tear down the old Sherman Oaks Galleria and what they built in its place is rather pathetic. More of a business building than a shopping mall now. It`s all outdoor now and nowhere near as big as it was before.

It really wasn`t that bad to live through. The song was the most annoying part. Maybe I was just blinded by hormones at the time.

Another movie featuring the Galleria would be Encino Man, Buuuh-dee!

I thought this was hilarious, as it was real. People..ahem, girls, actually mimicked this look and adopted the speech patterns, in order to be cool!

I personally love to watch society evolve, be it for better or for worse, from Disco-Stellas to Valley Girls, to 90`s depressed misunderstood pseudo-maturity (see: the teen girl in the movie Uncle Buck) all the way to emo girls nowadays.

It`s an interesting thing to observe, social patterns, yet sociology classes oft fail to mention things like these as events in society, they focus on the hippie movement of the 60`s, the nazi and communist movements...or odd traditions in tribal settlements.

IMO those things are nothing in comparison to the truly bizarre things the desire to stand out can create.

The entire time I watched this I couldn`t help but picture the demise of not just the contestants and hosts, but also the audience as well..Zombie`s killing them, ninja`s, me, dinosaurs, all sorts of horrific deaths....And I`m glad I was not alone in this.

Is it wrong that I want to kill all of them? Play around in their blood... squish their brain matter through my hands and lets the sinew slip around between my fingers. Pull out their esophagus` slowly to see if I can take their lungs out through their mouths.

Yes... I think this would make me happy.

This keeps reminding me of when my gr.11 english teacher imitated upspeak to teach us about how not to present our debates and speeches. Coming from a 70 year old man just made it all the more awesome.

Wow. At 5:58, that response, is actually pretty awesome. So there IS some form of intelligence beneath the (albeit not blonde) bimbo-istic style!

The Valley Girl trend started in the San Fernando Valley which is just north of Los Angeles. I actually used to work in the Sherman Oaks Galleria where this was filmed, as well as Fast Times at Ridgemont High. It is still a hangout for teenagers, but they certainly don`t talk like this anymore!

That was a sad, sad, time in our history. The term `like` was every other word. I had friends that used `like` well into the 90`s for every other word.

Actually I remember that era. I got so SICK of hearing that stupid song! Loved it at first but the damn thing would not go away! Every TV show had to do a VG episode and then there was that lame movie...

Gag me with a spoon!
