Despite the intrusiveness of airport security, there are far more important threats to liberty right now. The Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act, for one- which my senator, thankfully, is holding in committee to prevent it from passing this year. Plus there`s the fact that Obama is continuing the policy of rendition (i.e. outsourcing torture, because somehow that`s OK), and took Bush`s abuse of executive power one step further by reserving the right to order assassinations of US citizens abroad if they are suspected of terrorism- effectively convicting and executing them without the right to a trial. All of this "outrage" about people getting their junk touched by TSA agents is just distracting people from genuine threats to personal liberty and human rights.

The good news is you`re free to board the airplane. The bad news is, I found a polyp.

TSA: "Ready for boarding?"
Pass.: "NO."
T: "How about `Cave Explorer`?"
P: "YEAH!"

I`m surprised the ACLU is going up against the Obama administration. I guess that just goes to show how truly outrageous this really is.

@SPrink: you`re taking it out of the political context. the ACLU is very obviously a left wing group. they did the same thing in "The American President" when michael douglas defended being a member of the ACLU with the same type of statement. i think being a member of the ACLU is fine, i wouldn`t bash anyone on it, but it`s a very politicized group. in addition, they mostly "defend liberty" for left wing causes like telling people in some small town they can`t have a nativity scene on the town square. who gives a rat`s ass? that`s not taking away anyone`s liberty.

The ACLU has never impressed me with any of their cases. I`m a libertarian so I`m all for personal liberty, but I really can`t stand the way they handle things.

I was gonna write in big, bold letters up and down my legs " Can`t touch this" with arrows pointing towards my dong, but from what I hear, the ACLU is gonna fight this madness before I get a chance to do that.

@Rammo34, I`ve been following Consumerist comments on that issue. Apparently the private security firms still have to follow TSA procedures.

Luckily, airport are allowed to opt out of the TSA and instead hire a private security firm. Orlando is already doing it.

I was on TSA`s side until recently when I kept hearing more and more horror stories, and then I saw a news video clip of this lady who calmly argued with an agent and got nothing less than violently thrown to the ground and tackled like she had a gun.

That poo happens to me and I know I won`t win... but I will have someones drating ear as a goddamn trophy. Take it to the bank.

What`s sad for me is that I just got a position on an inspection team in the Marines that will be starting soon. It will require for me to travel about half the year for three years. I hope this crap changes soon!!
Pretty sure I read a story a while ago where a man refused to get xray`ed due to heart problems but also told security that if they touched him in his privates he was going to sue for sexual assault.

Wonder what they`d do in that case.
Easy. Deny him admittance to the plane. A search is NOT a sexual assault. Good luck trying to sue the TSA for sexual assault. There is nothing sexual about an established search procedure.
