Thanks for the discussion, you base your logic on what you would like real life to be rather than what it is.

Thanks again I am out of this one.

"Which would you prefer? To have the government give you socialized healthcare at no cost or minimal cost to you? or That you made enough money you could pay for your own healthcare? Nothing is Free."

As long as every working person gets good healthcare, where they are not denied treatment, I`ll be happy. I don`t care how they do it.

Switzerland has good healthcare. France has good healthcare. Either way they accomplish it, by making laws to increase wages so more people can afford healthcare or making free healthcare policy, people will need to get on our governments butt or they won`t do it right.

"Bored, nice thoughts and I understand where you are coming from. But business doesn`t operate on a loss."

And that is exactly what I would count on. For it to be more profitable to keep a good or a service at its current price than to raise it in reaction to a small tax increase and risk losing business/profit.

Honestly, and I would have to do some research to back this up, but from observation I don`t believe that many large companies even base their prices so much on what they pay out in costs as much as what they can get for an item or a service. For example Wallmart isn`t going to sell a shirt for $5 if they know they can get $10 for it regardless of whether a shirt cost $1 or $2 for them to buy, transport, and sell that shirt. So if they are putting something at it`s max price point already or what they believe people are able or willing to pay for an item they may decide that increaing an items price by 50 cents might just not be worth it.

Bored, nice thoughts and I understand where you are coming from. But business doesn`t operate on a loss.

All costs, including tax which is a cost is factored in and then a profit is added. Without that profit above cost business would go out of business. No matter how small the tax.

I am not against removing tax loop holes etc. But again when you raise a tax on a business we pay the increase of that tax to that business if we are a customer. It is pretty simple really.

Our lib friends use business and the rich as class warfare to enlist the votes of the poorer of us (which there are more including myself) to vote them into power. Not all business people or owners are bad, just as not all people are bad.

Which would you prefer? To have the government give you socialized healthcare at no cost or minimal cost to you? or That you made enough money you could pay for your own healthcare? Nothing is Free.

How much in taxes do you pay now?

@Tridirk Bull poo. Or somewhat bull poo.

I`m not suggesting that corporate taxes should be raised by some enormous amount that is really going to hurt business`s bottom line and force prices up. Just a half a percent or so.

Heck I`d even be happy if the government just stopped handing out subsidies and got rid of the tax loop holes.

Yes it is possible that some businesses would try and raise their prices in reaction to increased taxes, but some companies would also inevitably find that it was more profitable not pass that small loss onto customers keeping their product more affordable and appealing to buyers.

P.S. Walmart is real and they do deny the majority of their workers health insurance that we have to make up for with our tax dollars. Health insurance companies do deny life saving treatments to people who have paid thousands into that insurance. Marketing ploy my butt!

and by the way.... employers choose what is covered on insurance plans, not insurance companies. usually saving money is more important and keeping the coverage cost effective than trying to make everyone happy.

We disagree. I don`t think you read what I wrote long ago in this discussion. But I don`t think it would make any difference if you did.

Corporate taxes get passed on to us consumers that use what corporations produce and charge. The taxes increase the cost and they add profit to those costs. So, any additional corporate tax is really a tax on us that we pay in the form of higher prices1. The corporation doesn`t pay we do.

Massive evil corporations are a marketing ploy set forth by liberal politicians that want government to control all things. If you don`t like what those evil corporations do, then regulate them with rules. That is completely different than providing government funded health care. Or....just like a Steve Seagal movie, call and he can whip the evil corporation for you!

Do you believe the Federal Government is efficient? Fair, and good at managing money? Without corruption or misuse?

It`s in our contrys best interest to have a healthy working force. It`s in our best interest for congress to step in and make these companies more accountable AND if they won`t be I hope that they will cover us all and suck that money out of corporate taxes. If you work you deserve coverage.

"Like so many you agree with not liking the Federal government having so much power but find it OK for some things."

Yes of course I do, that is what makes me a moderate and not an radical extremist like perhaps you? While I don`t want the government to have the power to intrude upon my private life I do want it to have enough power to protect the interests of it`s citizens against foreign and domestic threats.

For example I would like for the government to be able to protect me (and my future children) from the massive Health Care Corporations that at some point decided that they would not cover certain life saving procedures which they called "experimental" although they were backed by trials. Although these corportations made billions of dollars off of selling their insurance at some point they decided to rewrite the rules and we need for the government to step in!

Beer... you seem to like big government but don`t want to call it what it is. OK, and you complain about Bush and his wiretapping, yet the current President continues it? How do you feel about him?

and NotTHAT... You call yourself a moderate and then use polarizing words that you are against?Like so many you agree with not liking the Federal government having so much power but find it OK for some things.

The more government gives us they more government controls us. You said it yourself when you said they dangle it over our head with restrictions.

There is hypocrisy on both sides. We have seen Repub and Dem politicians say what it takes to get elected and then do the opposite.

I`ll even record my suicide and have the video sent (posthumously, obviously) for posting at IAB, likely with a NSFW warning due to the nature of the snuff-video content.

I`m from Alaska and all I hear now is this b`tch`s name. I think it`s pretty obvious that no one cares what happens to this country anymore. If they did, they`d be on the streets protesting this war like they protested Vietnam. I may be a total conspiracy theorist, but I think the govt. caused the economy crash just to force the American people to focus on staying alive and fed, so "they" can just do whatever the f` they want.

Maybe not exactly what they are doing now, but some of the things they are doing are good. I love that health insurance companies can`t descriminate against children with pre-existing conditions anymore and if that makes me a "liberal" so be it!

@Tridirk So your against people "spewing" crap which is why you`re doing it? Ah, typical hypocritical conservative. Is that why so many conservative Republicans are against higher taxes but given the opportunity raise them?

Also, your wrong. I am not a "liberal" I`m more of a "moderate". I`m not even actually against the idea of conservatism in the text book sense, I`m just against people like you trying to polarize the political climate of IAB while contributing absolutley nothing.

The truth is that I would love to see less big government and more power given to the states where people could actually be involved in it. I loathe that the Federal government gets to take our money through onscene taxes and impose it`s will by dangeling it back over our states heads with restrictions. That said I want health care reform.

kummi90.... controlling private life, social issues and economic issues is exactly what Big Government does!!

I can`t believe you typed that? Can you not see the difference?

Big Government takes the power from the people and puts in into the hands of the elite political class. Taking from the many and giving that power to the few. Big Government is totalitarianism. So why would you give the people`s power to them?

It`s a good thing he`s NOT as intelligent as you imagine him to be. Imagine the destruction he could cause to the country if he actually were competent and showed up for work every day.

another media lib talking point. Bush-Cheney. What did that have to do with what I typed?

I was accused of wanting totalitarianism, which would be big government. Which is not what I want.

Now, you say I am for Big Brother, again I am for personal freedoms and less government. That means less lib or conservative, Dem or Repub government.

Government should be there to keep the peace, keep us safe, protect us from outsiders, and make sure that we all play fair. Not ensure equal outcome or more fair outcome. Or redistribute wealth.

Wouldn`t it be great if all of us, lib/conservative, dem/repub, any ethnicity or economic background have the freedom to succeed? Prosper? Fairly? To strive for our true potential? Government should ensure that we are all treated equally. Wouldn`t you like that chance?

beer... spoken like a typical lib

I am about freedom and smaller government, yes....totally. That would be the opposite of totalitarianism, which would be big government. Who is for big government? ... yes, Libs.

Polarize, and marginalize us that don`t agree with them. We all know who libs are and what they want. At their core, big government and to redistribute from those that have to those that they choose. You have reinvented the meaning of liberal to make it seem philanthropic. Again, not with your money but with the money of others.

Would you really call that improvement and moving forward? I call it moving backward. Long ago, those that could took from those that couldn`t stop them. Libs do it today by making people dependent on their big government. For once dependent on the libs, the libs will be voted in over and over.

I did not suggest that Europe is better than the USA. In fact in ways I suggest that the US is a great country. But I suppose that hadn`t come across well in my English. I like the US, I was meant to say that the US shouldn`t pick up and advertise this sort of thing around the world - a few of my Anti-US friends rely on this sort of material.

I did not mean to offend anyone.

"Her substantive deficiencies, even more dramatic than those previously reported. *Her lack of understanding about why there are two Koreas* her ignorance about the function of the Federal Reserve, her belief that Saddam Hussein was responsible for 9/11. *The fact that, at her lowest moments during her preparation for her debate against Joe Biden, some senior Mccain aides worried that she was mentally unstable* And ultimately, their fears that she wasn`t up to the job of being VP."

I wouldn`t worry about her becoming Prez any time soon though, she only appeals to about 28% of the country as is. She wouldn`t even make it through her own party`s nomination process.

Libs are morons, dumb, arrogant, racist, elite idiots with no common sense.

They procreate like rabbits and don`t contribute to society. That giant sucking sound we hear is the lib drain on our economy and intellectual standing.

They should all head to Canada and/or Europe where they could meld together into the next Socialist Republic and readopt the CCCP as their symbol of stupidity. In that manner they would disappear, for their way is unsustainable. They would have no one to tax except themselves. They don`t have jobs so how much tax comes from zero? Nor do they know how to create a job unless their government does it.

They can`t form a logical thought, instead they all spew the mantra of their media. A unique, original thought is impossible for them.

They vote for themselves like incestuous children, and can`t take the same BS they dish out.

... and most of the stuff I just typed is like reading posts from the libs.

-Military suppliers
-Seniors on the Pharmaceutics plan (this one`s a plus)
-The rich with their continuing tax cuts
-Sarah Palin (ok this one`s pushing it a bit)

Ronald Reagan is the definition of a good, ambitious president. I put him right behind my other two favorites: FDR and JFK.

but she lives in Alaska, and have you even looked at a map? Alaska is so close to Russia! She must be great with diplomacy, or else the Russians would have taken Alaska from us!!!!

Seriously though, if she somehow wins the 2012 election; I`m moving to Canada.

Big deal. She seemed to understand who was who at the beginning of the tape and just misspoke. I`ve done the exact same thing when talking about North & South Korea. I still think she`s a dumbass though.
