There`s a BBC Radio station dedicated to "black music"; it`s genuinely considered to be a genre of music.

I agree with EntrE. This is definitely not photoshopped and it`s no Walmart.
This is "Saturn" - a big chain of electronic stores in Germany.
They also got the category "Black Music" in other stores like "Media Markt" and I think this is absolutely normal, no big deal.
Now I am really bored.

Agree with ChrisRlive, not racist, would there even be a comment if it was white music? Tho i must admit that the white music section would probably have a lot of crap in it :p

Not racist at all. It`s just music derived from black culture.

"why is there a white guy in the bottem right?"
Because it`s reggae music.

I even created an account just to set this straight:
This is completely normal! It`s simply the over all description of music like Hip Hop, R`n`B, Reggae and so forth. That`s it. And since this is not just a single store deciding to call it that way but simply what the music is called, I don`t understand where the problem is with this.

@paddy215 Imagine that! An Irishman starting a fight over something trivial... lolz!
Is the above statement racist? Yes? I rest my case.
(Also, it`s kinda silly to lump ALL Black artists together, but I doubt racial hatred was the motivation for doing so, eh?)

When I worked at a music store in college, we had "Country" and "Rap" right next to each other down one whole aisle. We always called it the "crap" section. Get it? No? Fine, I will got sit back in my corner.

@hiltacular :heart: Thx!
I personally don`t care one tiny bit what a person`s skin colour is when I listen to their music! Is it good? Do I like it? That is what`s important.
People OUTSIDE the USA call Negros "Black" eh?
There was a thread here at IAB in which a commentor called negros in Belgium "African Americans" and was lambasted for that. Guess what? Saying someone is "black" is no more racist than saying someone is "white".
And there IS "white people music" it`s called "classic rock" lolz! Or "Classical" music, like Mozart, eh?

Almost all music these days is in some form black music. There would be no blues, no rock, and therefore no metal without black music.

Don`t say poo about Snoop, NWA, or Meth & Red. Or Run DMC for that matter.

BrimstoneOne,

actually it`s from a german technology/ hifi/ dvd/ games/ music/ computer/ electronics store called "Saturn".. and in germany, yes, this is black music and there is absolutely no racism involved.. it refers to music made popular by black culture.. and is not meant placative as in "haha, only blacks would listen to that".

Get your heads straight.

No racism intended :)

so what is the P.C way of refering to `coloured` people these days? - I can never keep up.

If you`re say Kenyan or someone from another African nation, or aborigine or whatever and someone is trying to describe you to someone, physical appearence... how should it be said? - genuinely curious :)

I could as my ex girlfriend (who was from Gambia) but we don`t speak now lol

"""Did you know that 10.4% of the entire black male population in America from the ages of 25-29 were incarcerated in 2002?"

Maybe you should stop hogging all the money, committing crimes and then framing them for it.

This is no "reach". It is absolutely racist. So is BLACK entertainment television. Substitute black with white, and if it sounds racist, then it is. Get your poo straight America. Giving privilege or special attention to a specific group (no matter what sets them apart) is segregation.

In Brazil black music section would be where the soul and R&B records could be found. All other music would be filed under their specific category (rap, rock, jazz, etc). I think it`s supposed to be a catch all term. And it`s written in english.

WAL-MART has an "ethnic hair care" aisle. It`s the aisle where black people get all their hair/skin/wtf ever stuff. That`s not considered racist, why is this? I know some white people listen to rap but you`ve got to recognize who listens to it most.

Wondershowzen FTW. I can`t see that gif without hearing that kid`s voice shouting in my head.

And yeah, this sh*t is racist. There is an enormous amount of musical variety in music made by black people. This would be like lumping country, heavy metal, folk music, classical, bluegrass, classic-rock and boy-bands in a section called "white music."

Oh, and pooptart19: fcuk you.

As funny as I think Pooptart`s fix is, that`s Alicia Keys in the top left, and she`s pretty talented in my opinion. It was a sad day when I found out she was pregnant and had to change my "I`d be gay for this celebrity" choice... not that it has anything to do with the post.

But I`m on the fence with the racist thing here. At least they used the word "Black."
