Yeah, it seems people who are drenched in Gene-x premature mutation seem to breed faster -.-

In Mother Russia, you don`t retouch photo. Photo retouches YOU!

Ok, had to get that out of the way. The scanning tech was interesting, though. Furthermore, it`s interesting to see how little has changed in digital photo retouching.

Digitally retouching photographs has been around for as long as we`ve had the technology to digitize photographs. The only reason you don`t think of it as being something from your parent`s generation is that for a very long time it was more of a novelty application than anything, it was cheaper and faster to do it by hand then to use a supercomputer.

@suicisim-
The point I was getting at is that a "self-sustaining" economy by definition wouldn`t need constant infusions of massive amounts of taxpayer money in order to avoid collapse. Clearly neither Russia OR the US meet that criteria.

It`s that crappy music from EVERY educational video from the 1960`s. They think adding that music will make it seem interesting, but the only thing it does is bored you HARDER! HARDER AND HARDER until your mind is screaming

"NO! NO MEANS NO! NO MEANS NO!"

That`s the wrong kind of "Shopped", Suicism. The shortest version of the right one would be "zhaba".

sbeelz - the Russian Revolution was almost entirely funded by New York and European banking interests - and from that point forward, relied upon massive wealth transfers from the U.S., often in the form of IMF loans, to sustain its military arms race. The name of the game IS bailout, and Russia was no exception - like the banks you cited, its insolvency was merely par for the course;

at the very least, I`d say the quote you`re disparaging is valid insofar as the United States being perennially on the minting side of the Welfare coin..

"What can`t they do better? How about create a self sustaining economy?"

Oh man, thanks number43. That`s the funniest thing I`ve heard all day. You mean a self-sustaining economy where the largest banks completely fail, requiring a multi-billion dollar government bailout? Or where the largest corporations routinely receive massive government subsidies? I`m not saying the US economy is WORSE than Russia`s- it`s in far better shape and pretty much has been since the Russian Revolution. But calling it self-sustaining is beyond delusional.

Big deal. My grandfather was a professional photographer (as well as my father). He did mostly weddings. He would do double exposures of the bride and groom posing inside of a wine glass.
No pixels. Pure photography.

Interesting

I also saw a bunch of colored pictures taken during the time of Tsar Nicholas II, he had a camera with three different lenses, very interesting

Am I the only person here who notices they are using an Apple III workstation?

For image manipulation and graphics in general, Apple ruled then just as it does now, regardless of whether its Russians or Westeners using the technology...

madest, the Internet was conceived/invented in the early to mid 1960`s, MS DOS 4 was the late 1980`s, and last but not least, photo shop like programs have been around since the mid 1970`s.

And the the Hubble space telescope been in orbit since 1989, granted it had very major upgrade in the late 90`s, but `putting it up there` is and early 80`s achievement.

Sorry Russians, In 1990 we were too busy inventing the internet and putting the Hubble telescope in orbit to notice your crappy picture fixer thingy. Was that MS DOS 4.1 you`re running? Microsoft sent it to you around that time while simultaneously separating from from IBM. Don`t you wish you would have bought their stock?
