All I heard was that the husband shoved his wife at the car window to break it. Not unlike a battering ram.

These parents are badass- that`s fcukin` teamwork!

Also, This: "Please, never shoot at a baby." He seemed to do just fine without a gun anyway. Though to be fair to splurbyburbl, he could have held the carjacker at gunpoint until the cops arrived if he had been carrying a firearm.

These people are most definitely not bad parents for leaving the baby in the car to sleep, while they stood outside. They didn`t go in the store for an hour or anything stupid like people do everyday. And as for locking the car...it was running, which means the keys were in the ignition...how would they get back in?...think people

@splurbyburbl

While I am a gun enthusiast I do not support shooting toward a car with your baby inside. That is just basic gun safety.

You are never as good of a shot as you think you are and certainly not when the pressure is on. Please, never shoot at a baby.

I understand wanting to leave a baby in a warm car versus taking him outside in the cold, but why didn`t one of the parents in the car with the baby? It`s awesome what they did to save him, but did no one see that someone should have stayed in the car regardless?

Yeah- they did ok- child inside car- warm and secure while they stepped away for just a second. They were on to it as soon as the car moved and reacted very fiercely. Good for them- and a shame that a car is not safe for a second. I would hate to live somewhere like that.

It`s not like they went inside anywhere... The voice-over blatantly stated that they were a couple feet away talking to people in the truck... Like kittehdee29 said, it`s just a car jacking where there *happened* to be a child in the car. I think the crook may have reconsidered had he seen the kid before he hopped in. Maybe not though.

You know what, on second thought.. Why take any chances ever, at all? Just leave our children locked up inside our houses that way they can`t go outside to fall and skin their knees. Bust their heads open and require stitches, or do anything INCLUDING taking them out in a car period (because there is a chance of an accident) because danger lurks everywhere... Lets just stay inside and not do anything anymore.

@AuburnJunky...
Thank you! I got two myself...

I was actually in the same situation earlier this year. I was moving from Washington State to North Carolina (long drive) and my father in law was driving my wifes car and I was driving the moving truck. Sure when we stopped we would meet in the middle and talk to each other. Why not? The kids are asleep nice and warm in the vehicles. Maybe I should have pulled them out to freeze in the dead winter of Colorado... I don`t know apparently people here seem to think so. At any point I suppose this could have happened to me as well... But then again, should we all live our lives in fear? Maybe (to all you naysayers) next time you walk into a store you shouldn`t bring your children... I mean, there is a chance that an armed robber could hold up the store right? Just as these parents experienced the small chance that someone was going to steal their car while they were standing not 10 FT from it... Yes?

Hate to double post, again, but I would indeed think they were morons for leaving their running, unlocked car with their child in it if they both went inside and this happened to them. Just the fact that people are calling them stupid for what they really did is completely asinine.

Davy, I don`t hate you. Chances are your parents left you in the car while a few feet away when you were a kid. My grandpa left me in the car to go pick up food when I was six months old and nothing happened to me. It`s an unfortunate case of a carkjacking with a kid inside, but it`s more rare than anyone thinks.

And AuburnJunky, I TOTALLY agree with you.

Auburnjunky: Very well said. I was always allowed to make my own mistakes and have my own experiences, as I`m sure you were. My brother and sisters with children seem to pamper them to such a point that they become whiny, self centered brats. Seriously people, let your child experience the good and bad of life naturally.

I`m not saying ignore them. I`m saying liberate them.

If I may be excused for mashing a few comments together:
Cold is an effing moron imo. They were trying to keep their child warm... Oh and apparently we`re supposed to lock our kids into the car like a goddamn prison?...
To pick up for Cold, there were two parents there. Sure, it`s different if you`re on your own, but surely it doesn`t take two adults to go into the gas station while the baby stays in the car. It`s simple, one goes into the store, the other one stays in the car with the child. Frig, give Dad a written shopping list if needs be. Hell, I know if it were me and my wife we wouldn`t have left our 6-month-old daughter alone in the car.

Having said all that, well done to the parents on apprehending the perp. I wouldn`t say these were parents who are bad parents, just parents who made a temporary lapse of common sense (whcih no-one should be punished for) and then made up for their mistake tenfold. And good for them.

What`s with people blaming them saying "loser, you shouldn`t have left your car unlocked and running"?! They hardly went out of frame to talk to a friend driving the moving truck right next to them, otherwise they wouldn`t have both had time to grab onto the car. Don`t blame the victims, the jerk shouldn`t have tried to steal their car.

Okay damnit.

All these people who are claiming "bad parents", I bet you guys are the type that advocate those damn baby leashes.

I bet you put your kids in "time out" for anything they do.

There is a reason the next generation of children are going to be scared wimpy assed panty waists.

Because SOME PARENTS ARE TOO OVERBEARING and WON`T LET KIDS GROW UP!

I realize my rant has little to do with this, but COME ON!

They put their baby in the WARM CAR to keep it safe. They were LESS THAN A FEW FEET away.

Do us all a favor. When you have kids (I have 4), DO NOT hold their hands on the slide. DO NOT give them cookies when they skin their knee. DO NOT let them get away with everything, because they are kids. DO NOT reward them for failing.

DO let them play tag with friends. DO let them FAIL a few times. If they get in a fight, CONGRATULATE THEM if they were defending themselves.

We are in rea

I`m glad mom and dad went hardcore on him, but I really wish the story had ended with " The dad, after getting in the front seat and leveling his handgun, exercised his right to conceal and carry by putting a hole in the carjackers head large enough to fill with a Cornish game hen."

"Stupid parents deserve their car to be stolen (would have been better without the kid inside, of course) but the poor kid deserves better and smarter people to take care of him."

cold_tale: Going along that line: if the child had died when the thief crashed/stopped the car, would you have said it deserved to die?

Way to play devil`s advocate, kid! Bottom line is that the punk shouldn`t have tried to steal the car in the first place.

Oh and apparently we`re supposed to lock our kids into the car like a goddamn prison? Heck, if there`s an 8 year old kid in the car and some guy bursts in and tries to steal it, I sure as hell hope the kid can open the door to get out. Like a locked door even does that much for a determined thief. And how about this paranoid situation: the kid`s the car and the car suddenly starts rolling down the street, and now you can`t get in because it`s locked. HOLY CRAP WHY DID I LEAVE MY KID IN A LOCKED CAR NOW HE`S DEAD BAAAWWWWWW!

Female 3,562
Oh come on Cold, you seriously think it`s possible to NEVER leave your kid unattended for the first few years of its life? I leave my car running all the time when I go into convenience stores so I can keep it warm and can get out fast. I leave valuable stuff in my car all the time too. And the parents didn`t even leave the sight of their kid, they literally went only a few feet away. Heck, I remember being left alone in the car all the time as a kid, and yet nobody tried to attack me.

cold tale: when traveling in america carjackers at a gas station shouldnt even be an issue, what happened to being able to trust people?,besides they were off camera by about 10ft. you saw how long it took them to actually get to the car when they saw it taking off. its not like they went inside to eat with the baby in the car they were chatting with friends for a minute

No matter what people say (if you have children or not), you don`t leave your kid unattended: in an OPEN VEHICLE, in the middle of the night, and by the gas station where there`s a great probability that thieves will VISIT AND ATTEMPT SOMETHING STUPID.

Stupid parents deserve their car to be stolen (would have been better without the kid inside, of course) but the poor kid deserves better and smarter people to take care of him.
I just hope you all know better than to do this than say something about how many times you`ve done this with your kid and yet nothing is bound to happen?
Stop and give your kid away to someone else, please.
