Those cylindrical structures are terribly difficult to implode correctly. Even seasoned professionals have failed to properly drop one due to the large number of variables involved.

"The kids it shows in the vid are actually the kids of the lady who managed the demolition!"

I found it really amusing to see that the first person who figured out it might be a good idea to get the hell away was the youngest kid! I guess I know why now.

Maybe SHE oughtta be the one managing demolitions!

Durrell: The concussion waves from large amounts of explosives, At or near ground level, Are a lot more harmful than an airplane 1000 ft. overhead flying at 700+ knots. Explosions are different, And more powerful, Than breaking the sound barrier.

I`d rather be hit with the crack of a whip (Which does break the sound barrier) than hold a lit M-80 in my hand until it explodes.

At first I was thinking meh so it fell the wrong way not so bad.

Then I saw the power lines snap down.

That clicking sounds in the bg are not cameras, it`s an accountant from the power company.

Perhaps they needed a lumberjack? They`re good at dropping tall things where they want.

@durell:

Surely you know that the shock from dynamite exploding, and the shock from a plane breaking the sound barrier create different kinds of waves, right?

@CrakrJak

just thought i`d point out just how big of a concussion wave you need to bread a window.

3 Supersonic fighters breaking the sound barrier at less than a 1000 feet directly over a house wont break a window. Demolition charges(dynamite) aren`t going to do anything

Most smokestacks are very sturdy and notoriously hard to demolish. My guess is they were trying to do this demolition with as little explosive as possible, So that the concussions wouldn`t break windows.

LOL, this was only about 2 miles from my house. The power was out for about 2 hours. believe it or not the city actually paid an Idaho based company for that mishap

Those cables could have done some serious injury. At first I thought the guy yelling "get out of here" was hysterical since that tower was not even close to hitting the area near the camera, but turns out he wasn`t so wrong after all.
