I believe I see who added my video here: DickenMcHunt, so a big thank you to him!

Wired.com just tweeted about it!

Wired Laser + Balloon + Fire Inside it = Awesome! Tweet

Thanks to I-Am-Bored.com and the community here who had a hand in that!

Ah, nice one Scott! It`s always a pleasure when an original content creator drops in to say hello. Nice series of vids, man.

all it is the light is passing through the balloon and being absorbed by the paper untill its hot enough to combust see? smoking makes you smarter this is proof

Hey there folks, "Science" is the right word for this. To see the actual scientific explanation about this see this link: Laser + Balloon + Flash Paper = Awesome! 7 minutes long full explanation video

There are a number of Science (especially laser) YouTube videos on my channel that I have made: http://www.youtube.com/user/WorldScott

Thank you very much to the person who added my video to I-Am-Bored.com!

"Lame, do we really have to go over light rays, and the effect of light absorption and unwanted energies?"

I think the real question is- do we really have to be a killjoy?

Der, the ballon is transparent, i.e., much of the laser energy passes through without heating the material, whereas the paper is not, thereby absorbing enough of the laser heat to ignite.

Notice the ballon pops when a heated ember touches the bottom of the ballon and burns it.

John Hutchison isn`t a scientist, he`s a crackpot basement tinkerer. There`s lots of guys like that. Calling him a "scientist" is like calling a faith healer a "doctor".

Samsquanch, why are you so convinced this is fake? Do you have proof, or are you speculating?

Saying that people have faked stuff in the past is not an argument. People have killed people in the past, but that doesn`t mean you are a murderer.

@Samsquanch- Correct, there have been con jobs within the scientific community in the past.

However this is a guy on youtube igniting a piece of paper inside a balloon with a laser. He`s making no profit off it, arguably no fame and the science behind it makes perfect sense.

So how`s this a con job again?

yeah he`s obvious plans are:
Step 1: Make this video
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Profit!

You can`t say without a doubt that there have been no con jobs in the world of science. You can`t say that there have been scientists out there who are just out to make a buck. I present to you: The Hutchison Effect

Samsquanch - "It just kills me that so many people are mocked because of their faith in an institution, yet those who mock readily embrace someone else`s beliefs blindly without fully comprehending.
For all we know, this video could just be a big con job"

So what are you saying? That fire isn`t real? Or balloons are really flat not round?

Would you belive the balloon popped if it had a burning bush inside it instead?

ok scotchy you`re absolutely right :D then I will resort to that the laser just wasn`t focussed enough to burn the balloon, but focussed where the "paper" was, and then got out of focus behind the paper again :) much easier explanation ( didn`t click the "how it`s done" link in the video.. too lazy

The balloon popped (watch the slow motion) because an ember from the paper landed on the bottom part of the balloon.

that wasn`t regular paper ... possibly nitrocellulose or something that ignites really quickly ( you se the laser burnt through the baloon at the end, it just wasn`t strong enough to pop it before the "paper" ignited)

"Huh...so, you believe that you can ignite paper with concentrated light? Interesting. "

Not sure if you`ve paid attention to IAB lately, but there was a video of concentrated sunbeams melting a piece of rock.

So yes.
