Maybe a dictionary is in order, for some of these people.

As for Obama being Keynesian I believe he is with this talk about investing in infrastructure much of the time. Keynesian economics gave us the interstate highways and Hoover damn, but it also gave us the military industrial complex. Hitlers use of Keynesian economic principals built Nazi Germany`s war machine. Keynesian economics can easily create a militaristic society because often times military give the higher returns on public investment. Once the weapons are built they have to be used to keep the investment going. It is almost like a drug addiction but for governments, and results in many dead people.

Now where did you get that idea?
Because he`s 5BrainCells.

No matter WHAT side they fall on, no matter WHAT their political views, no matter WHAT they say or do, if they don`t agree with him, or aren`t as intelligent as he thinks he is, then they must be a liberal.

All this video really proves is that they found some people who didn`t know what they were being asked. I bet they targeted uninformed-looking people. And they probably found people that DID know who John Keynes is, but their responses would have made the video less funny
Honestly, how many people know enough about economics to recognize that word? 1% of the general population? 2%? I see this as exploiting a reasonable ignorance, not a willful or harmful ignorance.
They may not know what Keynesian means (I didn`t until I Googled it earlier) but they should still recognise that it isn`t the same word as Kenyan.

That`s the joke behind it. It was at Jon Stewart`s "Rally for Sanity". They were playing off like Stewart`s comedy team would do.

So what? A few democrats look a little uninformed. I`m sure after George Bush was elected, twice, we all know how smart the majority of the Republican Voter base is.

@Boomersooner, I promise you that it is not just limited to America. People are just generally stupid when it comes to politics.

That is why our Prime Minister convinced everyone it was his `Decision` to go with the EU on prisoner voting, he HAS to, EU Law overrides British Law.

This video just points out how important it is to teach Politics in school.

I wonder how many people they had to go through before they got these people. because they only talked to four groups of people in this clip. had they got a larger sample size of stupid people, then perhaps there would be sufficient evidence that people who went to the rally to restore sanity don`t know what the drat they`re talking about.

John Maynard Keynes was an influential British economist who believed governments should intervene to help their economies.

Being a "Keynesian" means you subscribe to Keynes` ideas. It does not mean you are from Kenya.

So, what did we learn here?

When someone tries to make a man on the street look dumb for not knowing basic common knowledge things ala JayWalking with "Who`s on the Twenty Dollar Bill?" "Ummmm...Randy Jackson?" - usually pretty funny.

Trying to make a man on the street look dumb for confusing an African nationality with a macroeconomics term that a majority of people would have to look up and think about - not really that funny.

Making a pot joke because a man on the street is talking gibberish - always funny.

Please Try Again, You Can do Better C-

to remove hidden agenda from politics a good start would be having the government fund the political parties instead of private donations.
Take out the access of special intrest groups.

Also... After looking up the word (I`m not ashamed to admit that), I found out that I knew what it was, I just knew it by a different name.

And I don`t see why it would be a problem for the (supposed) will of the people to be able to step in and try to stop things from getting our of hand.

You know, if it actually WAS the will of the people...

That`s why I say the people should be able to vote on politician`s pay.

If we don`t like what they`re doing, we should be allowed to give them a pay cut. Maybe they`ll get it through their heads that the PEOPLE are supposed to control the country, not the politicians.

I don`t have anything to prove, just posting what a Keynesian economist is for those who don`t know:

"t unemployment was characteristic of an unregulated market economy and therefore to achieve a high level of employment it was necessary for governments to manipulate the overall level of demand through monetary and fiscal policies (including, when appropriate, deficit financing). He helped to found the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank"

I`m pretty sure Obama DID say he was a Keynesian. It`s not an insult, it`s an economic belief that many people openly acknowledge they are. It just happens that a lot of economists, including my teacher, don`t like Keynesian economists. But why would it be considered an insult?

Oh this is hilarious.

Also, LandoGriffin: Keynesian means nothing like "anti-capitalism" or socialism. Many capitalists are Keynesian, and die-hard socialists are certainly not Keynesian.

Keynesian actually means anti-capitalist, if I`m not mistaken, which would mean "socialist" in a way, if I`m not mistaken, so Tea Party crazies would believe that Barack Obama is Kenyan AND Keynesian.

@Toider the whole thing looks like a kiddie pool these days. There is no deep end, or even anyplace to pee!

When did we (the USA, as a country) start accepting that our best possible choice was the lesser evil? Obama`s great, I like him as a person, he`s very charismatic, but he`s still screwing us for his own, his party`s, and his backer`s gain. Just like Bush before him did.

Granted, he makes it sound more believable than Bush to me, but our choices are starting to sound like "Do you want to get poked in the left eye, or the right?" Can I say neither?

Is there a way we can remove all potential for personal gain, all ego, all hidden agendas from politics? Make it so the only reason to get in is to help make life as good as possible for as many as possible and to keep your nose out of everything else?

If we found that magic spell, would we ever be allowed to use it?
