there`s tonnes of these types of videos on the interwebs, they`re all pretty awesome!

This vid would be interesting if it hadn`t been dumbed down for the general American audience.

Nothing that a college biology course won`t teach you......

And I don`t know why. But. Why is it so dumbed down?

How exactly is the solar system similar to cells? They are all round?

I didn`t like the voiceover. I would like to actually know what different parts are what.

So it`s never occurred to anyone here that the solar system and planets are remarkably similar to cells? Hmm

Its amazing how they act like if they had some conscience. It could mean that conscience is there, doesnt matter if there is a brain or not

Why does he use no scientific names for things at all? It`s not that card to call something by it`s proper name instead of "big pink thing" or "thing that looks like a peanut".

This ties in well with evolution threads.

The idea that some viruses and some bacteria can cause some diseases is, as the most ignorant and/or dishonest creationists put it, "only a theory".

A Theory

So why aren`t these people calling the idea that some bacteria and some viruses can cause some diseases "Pasteurism", dismissing it as "only a theory" and trying to force schools to teach *in science classes* that diseases are sent by their god?
And to you other two, my theory is I give the "sneeze droplets" time to land before I have a chance to breathe them in while they`re airborne. It makes perfect sense to me.
And you`re right.

It won`t completely protect you, as there are other ways to get infected, but getting a nose and mouth full of someone else`s spit, snot, dead cells and all the bacteria and viruses that come with them is quite an effective way to catch something.

Of course, you still get your face and hair splattered with their spit and snot.

I live and work in a low-grade area with many low-grade people. Many of them cough so often they don`t even know they`re doing it any more and hardly any of them care what they do to other people anyway. Bottom-feeder filth. It`s a shame I`m not allowed to carelessly spit in their faces in response. Or just punch them.

Gerry - he`s a good friend, not a stranger! What kind of lunatic do you think I am?

Oystah, in your avatar you are licking mustard off a strange man`s belly but you`re afraid of a sneeze 20 feet away?

I`m at work and don`t have a suitable face-palm photo handy.

Oystah....

You know there are other ways to get sick then just breathing around people that sneeze.... Thats great and all that you haven`t been sick for three years but I highly doubt its just because you do that.

"...the welcoming structure disperses, the capsule burst, and out comes the secret recipe!"

&^%#[email protected]! IDIOT. What`s the "welcoming structure", Krull-skull? Clathrins? Where did they come from, what are they for, why are they there? The "secret recipe"? Probably DNA or RNA, but which one, Krull-skull? God DAMN it! This jackass may as well narrate by saying: "Now the red things are gone and the yellow things come out and then a squiggly thing slides along a line."

Everytime someone sneezes anywhere close enough for me to hear it, I hold my breath for at least 30 seconds. I haven`t been sick in three years and have never had the flu. :)

A little oversimplified, left out a lot of steps in the process.

The fact that this has no scientific names for half the process
makes it fairly unhelpful. Unless you haven`t done GCSE (age 15-17) biology...

God I hate Krulwich. Krull-skull almost singlehandedly destroyed "Nova Science Now" with his decision to completely ignore the science and just try to be entertaining. May as well just watch THIS video with the sound off! Trying to blindly guess what`s happening in the video will probably be more informative than listening to another second of that deluded jackass Krulwich spending our tax dollars to try and promote his career at the expense of another science program.
