Do you know how low the risks of getting mouth cancer is? I have smoked since I was 14 and I bench press 275 and run a twenty mile marathon in less than two and a half hours. If anything smoking has improved my health because it keeps me from going off and killing people.

it`s a sad state of affairs.

Oh, and just a thought, but...

Typical emo kid, claiming that they`re ahead of a trend that`s been around since before they were born...

I don`t think it`s called "ahead of the trend," I think it`s called "behind the times..."

The world didn`t really NEED more proof that emo kids are retarded, but we just got more...

Bet you`ll stop when you have to pay for them yourself, and if you don`t... Well, more proof, though that goes for smokers in general...

Smoking in general is disgusting to begin with... I had a girlfriend who smoked, it was like kissing an ash-tray. Never again.

My family also smokes around me, and I will roll down my window in the middle of January if they light one in the vehicle.

I`ve had a pretty good cycle for several years I think. I like smoking and don`t feel like quitting. So instead I buy a pack every three months and make sure it lasts me about a month. I`ve been doing that for 4 years now, sure has saved me money from my previous pack a day habits.

Listen, I`m done with this argument, Suicism- here`s the bottom line:
E-cigs are being marketed as a safer alternative to cigarettes without any evidence to back the claim up. In all likelihood, they are safer, but without rigorous testing it`s really impossible to be certain. There is a damn good reason why drug manufacturers have to jump through so many hoops to bring a new drug or delivery system to market- circumventing that process, and trying to convince the public that a product is safe without thoroughly testing it, is totally irresponsible.

Seriously, who smokes anymore? Smoking is so 1999. When I see an adult smoking, I think to myself "You`re an idiot. Grow up."

Smoking is a total deal-breaker. I don`t care how hot you are. I don`t want to be with someone who can`t handle a cardio workout for more than 5 minutes **wink wink** If you know whaddImean...

That`s pretty gross. I think those type of PDAs are probably only effective to prevent someone from beginning to smoke - I swear once you`re hooked, I don`t care what they show you. I`m on like my 9th quit right now and that still gave me the urge to light up.

I like how people try to defend smoking, saying "I`ve smoked for 362 years and I`m still alive". Yet there`s tons of proof that it greatly raises your chances for disease.

And like Pui said, it`s a very stupid, expensive, smelly and pointless habit.

@Svampe - they have stopped putting the ads on tv during dinner (thank god) but the photos of mouth cancer, gangrene, brain haemorrhaging (sp?) and blocked arteries are all on the packets. Plus they jacked up prices by like 25% earlier this year.

Did it stop anyone smoking? Hard to tell, the people who already were smoking haven`t quit htough.

Actually, I`m familiar with the case. If the Federal judge hadn`t ruled in this way, the FDA`s next step was to ban the product as a `drug-delivery device,` which is why I find the term derogatory. I agree that, nicotine being a drug, its manufacture for use in this product should be regulated in the interest of safety for its users. But with success rates of less than 50% (and that`s on a generous trial), would you be so eager to suspect quackery when it came to the Nicotine patch itself?

"But corporations NEVER lie about the safety of their products. That`s never happened before. Not once."

Your sardonic aside would carry a little more weight if the C-card were actually worthy of being employed here. Not only are 99% of these companies Mom & Pop startups or LLC`s, The means by which I`ve obtained this information has come from such sources out of sole interest in creating a wholesale business relationship.

I don`t think they`d lie to me about where to get the flavoring ingredients if they were interesting in selling me PG/VG nicotine base for my own concoctions.

You can checkout two of the evil corporations recommended to me for yourself:

https://www.lorannoils.com/

http://capellaflavordrops.com/

You can find the latter being sold directly to customers by an e-cig vendor themselves as well:

http:// www.ecigexpress.com/ flavoring-capella-flavors -c-16_17

I appreciate your cynicism, but if you had the stamina to do a little more research into the industry I think you`d find everything to be pretty above-board, at least when it comes to the companies selling them.

Actually, Suicism, it has nothing to do with what the FDA wants to do. A federal judge ruled that the FDA does not have the authority to regulate ecigs as a drug/device combination- which makes no sense whatsoever. I smell shenanigans. Nicotine is a drug, e-cigs are basically a kind of inhaler, they should be regulated the same way all pharmaceuticals are regulated. Period. Being that they`re not, it can`t be guaranteed that they only contain the ingredients you say they do- that information is coming directly from the manufacturers themselves, rather than an outside regulatory agency or independent monitoring organization. But corporations NEVER lie about the safety of their products. That`s never happened before. Not once.

Until the FDA can incorporate a psychological value into the effectiveness of their sanctified stop-smoking aids, I wouldn`t put too much stock in their pontifical evaluations.

"Chronic nicotine use can cause hypertension and contribute to cardiovascular disease."

Right - but that`s not due to the usage of an e-cigarette itself; your beloved patches & Nicorette gum would produce the same effects, regardless of FDA approval.

"The only way to know how safe they are is to use rigorous scientific testing."

Yes - or in the meantime, the testimonials of thousands of users who`ve kicked the habit of a known killer for good as a result of this product. It delivers the chemical clinically responsible for their dependency, but in a way which imitates that delivery to the satisfaction of equally essential psychological habituation. I challenge you to formulate a better alternative to inhaling the 4,000+ hazardous chemicals associated with tobacco smoke.

NOT wrong - I said none of THESE detrimental effects.

The lack of research has largely been due to the FDA`s unwillingness to further conduct it. There are 3 basic components to the nicotine liquid being `delivered` by this device: Propylene Glycol or Vegetable Glycerin (whichever you prefer: some are allergic to the former and the latter is Kosher), the nicotine itself (which if purchased from an American manufacturer like Vapure is guaranteed to be 100% pharmaceutical-grade) and the flavoring, which generally derives from food-additives available online (therefore, obviously safe to ingest.) Can you show me in which area any of these ingredients should be presumed to cause the same deleterious effects we`re seeing in this woman`s mouth? Not even `lesser,` but at all?

"How enlightened of them, then, to ban the e-cigarette which provides smokers with an alternative that carries NONE of these detrimental health-effects!"

Wrong. Less detrimental effects. Maybe. They have undergone virtually no testing. They are a drug delivery system and should have to go through the same rigorous testing as all pharmaceuticals. Nicorette and the nicoderm patch both had to do so. It makes me extremely wary that they are being sold as a "safe alternative" to cigarettes with no hard evidence to back that claim up. The way they are being advertised reeks of quackery. The only way to know how safe they are is to use rigorous scientific testing.

But even if e-cigs don`t have any other adverse health effects, they do do deliver nicotine. Chronic nicotine use can cause hypertension and contribute to cardiovascular disease.

I am so bloody sick and tired of the propaganda anti-tobacco lobby groups are trying to pass off as truth.

I am not so ignorant to try and say that smoking can`t or doesn`t cause diseases like oral, esophageal or lung cancer, but I`d be so bold as to say that a good %60 - %70 of the crap you see and read in non smoking ads are outright falsifications.

The mouth depicted in the video is not the sole result of smoking. Meth, not brushing one`s teeth in a hundred years, and yes smoking perhaps, but you are not going to get that mouth by just smoking alone.

When you look deeper into the issue and the true facts you begin to see how much the anti-tobacco lobbyists are lying.
