think of when black people in america suffered the most numerous hate crimes. it was leading up to and during their fight for civil right. no progress is made easy, but my gay friends, look at how life the black community has changed. it will for you too, hopefully soon.

Cobrakiller, you must not have a very good grasp of history to believe that the 1960s for black people was worse than the early 1900s, when lynch mobs were running around, the post-reconstruction era south, or pre-Civil War. Moreover, race is, for the most part, pretty visible, all the time. Sexuality is often not obvious just from looking at someone. Third point: pretty much the only civil rights that gays lack are marriage benefits and the benefits that flow from marriage (like inheritance, power of attorney without legal hassles, and marriage-related immigration) and adoption. Oh, and serving openly in the military. These aren`t small potatoes, and I don`t mean to minimize them, but that`s a long way from slavery.

He was talking about himself being a gay muslim and all, probably just a slip of the tongue.

Scarytropin, you think that the only issue at stake is "civil rights?"

I hate to pop the little 1950`s bubble you live in, but you mention the 1900`s and "lynch mobs" and so on - those things still exist for gay people. Imagine going out with a couple of friends on night, and walking along the street, you are beaten, or beer bottles are thrown at you from passing cars of jerk-offs who think it`s fun to go to "fag town" and harrass people. THink about the lesbians that on their way to cars are grabbed and raped, because "they just don`t haven`t had a *REAL* man" and crap like that.

Things have improved - but for every good advance that has been made (as discussed, gay characters, and movies, etc etc etc) there are 10 bad things that the light has not been shined on.

Equal civil rights would be great - but being able to live our lives without the Christian Right Lynch Mob chasing us continuously would be even better.

scarytropin, and gays have not been persecuted, hated, and killed throughout history? our country was founded by people who saw both people of dark complexion and homosexuals as lesser people. but you did make one point, homosexuals cannot be detected (unless they are stereotypically dressed and acting) by just appearances. they can hide who they are from the general public, but just shouldnt have to.

but the point in this clip isnt what rights gays have or what rights are withheld form them. its about they violence they are facing. now there has been violence over many years toward both groups, violence toward the black community has slowed greatly while violence toward gays has not.

I admit to at one time feeling like I was against homosexuality on a moral standpoint. Now I am very much indifferent as to the sexual choices of other people.

However, I am not indifferent to how annoying this subject is. Homosexuality is not going away no matter who wants it to. It is time for the anti-gay agenda to recognize they are simply small roadblocks in front of a steadily moving train that won`t be derailed.

It is time to accept this lifestyle so we can focus on more important things that will move us into the future... like education, science, etc. etc.

But haven`t you heard the word? God hates the sin, not the sinner. It`s OK to be gay, as long as you don`t act on it.

Me, I like steak. A big juicy steak. Say the Bible told me eating steak was a sin. God would still love me for being a steak-lover, as long as I didn`t act on my sinful impulse and actually go nom on a steak. As long as I suppressed my base impulse to eat steak, then God isn`t angry with me for being a sinner.

Is any of this suppression of basic expression of human rights sinking in with any of you religious mouth-breathers? If you liked girls but were never allowed to have sex? If you liked playing video games but turning on your xbox is a mortal sin?

I`m sorry, but I don`t buy all this "hate the sin, love the sinner" bullwank. People have needs and desires, and to be a fulfilled human being and to experience all that life has to offer, you need to experience those things.

It`s OK to be gay, it really is. Just like it`s OK to be black, it`s OK to be disabled, it`s OK to be slower than the other kids at school, it`s OK to be ginger. Whatever your yardstick is, it`s OK to be different, and people should not be made to feel inferior (sinner, going to hell, stupid, etc) for any reason.

Christians, you would get a lot less flak if you`d just admit that some people are gay. You really would. As things stand, you`re going the way of the dinosaurs. Hear my message.

Davy, you make some good points, but I don`t believe religion the root cause of these feelings.

Ignorance. I quote Joey Belladonna of Anthrax when I say; "...I am not so arrogant as to not admit my ignorance..." I used to shun gays when I was younger. An 18 year old infantry soldier, still a youth coming to terms with who I was, and what it was to be a "man". Gays were pussies, wimps, people to be mocked. Why? I was ignorant. I`d never met an openly gay person, and quite honestly I was not so secure in my masculinity, they "scared me". I was ignorant.

Luckily, and thankfully, ignorance is a thing which can be changed. I matured, became comfortable with things, and grew to know and respect all folks, especially the GLBT community. When I realized that no matter which way a person swings, they are all people, who share the same feelings and needs as I do, It doesn`t matter where you prefer to put your "willy", Love is l

You may not hate gays but your God hates what they do, apparently. The fact that you had to say `i`m a christian and look i don`t hate gays` isn`t something that should seperate you from the rest. It should be the norm to be a christian and not hate gays, not the exception. I have a friend who`s parents kicked him out for being gay. His parents didn`t want a sinner living under their house. Something is wrong when religion makes people feel like that. He stayed with me for a while untill his grandparents managed to set up his room with them. He`s been disowned by his parents for being himself, the way their God must have made him.

Frankly i don`t care whether someone prefers one gender over the other. It doesn`t affect me, it doesn`t affect anyone, so why should anyone care.

@SvampeBob between 1933 and 1945 100,000 people were arrested by the Nazis for being gay.

In Gambian dictator Yahya Jammeh has threatened to behead any gay person found in his country.

In Malawi, police launched a formal operation targeting high-profile gays and lesbians across the southern African state. It`s resulted in gay-rights supporters facing months of community service and sexually active gays being threatened with decade-long jail sentences.

Senegal was criticized by gay rights groups in 2009 after sentencing two men to eight years in prison for "indecent conduct and unnatural acts."

South Africa, where same-sex marriage was recently legalized, lesbians live in fear of being victimized like Eudy Simelane, who was gang-raped and slain, stabbed 25 times in the face, chest and legs by gang members.

I see what you`re saying and I agree. But people who are intolerant and religious will often blame their belief system for the way they think. Realistically, there are as many intolerant Atheists as there are intolerant Christians. however, the Atheists were not taught to be intolerant because of a large fantasy novel.

IMHO, Homophobia doesn`t exist. Phobia insinuates a fear. It`s not a fear these haters people`s heterosexuality. The thought of being gay displeases them in disturbing ways
(as it does me)...but that doesn`t mean it`s wrong. It`s wrong for you maybe, but not wrong for the people it feels right for.

It`s not like the gays and lesbians actively go out and prowl for straight people to convert or rape...

And before saying the Bible forbids homosex, if God gives life, why would he make gays if he thinks they are abominations?

I`m straight and atheist, and I will gladly be called a faggot if it means I

There is recent research out of Cambridge that strongly indicates some people are just naturally born ass holes. NBA`s. They can`t help, it`s a genetic predisposition towards assholiness.

But more significantly, Yale researchers have found that NBA`s are statistically more likely to join religious groups. 150% more likely! In the research, Running for Political Office was a close second with NBA`s at 140% likelihood.

Knowing the above, one can`t help but wonder why Mel Gibson is not either Pope or President...?

If the bible didn`t forgive homosexuality then why do so many religious nuts hate it?

I feel as if you may have missed what my views on this are. I don`t have any problem with who someone choses to love (with in reason obviously before some religious nut jumps on me and starts lieing that i support child molestation or some other perversion). I care as much about a friend being gay as i do about myself being straight. Obviously if they`ve come out to me then i`m proud of their bravery and trust. But other than that, love who you want.

I`m straight and an atheist, and i don`t think homosexuality is wrong at all. Whilst yes i don`t understand it, and i don`t feel turned on by other men, i`m also not turned on by feet or mega busty skinny chicks. Doesn`t mean i think it`s wrong to be turned on by it.

Just because I don`t agree with practicing homosexual acts, doesn`t mean I hate them or fear them. There are many inclinations that people have that shouldn`t be acted on - I believe homosexuality to be one of those. I have gay friends and I accept them as much as they accept me. I am sick, though, of people who assume that because I believe this way that I am a hate-filled monster.

What is wrong with homosexuality? They aren`t trying to convert you to their sexuality. They don`t want every straight man. They don`t tell you that sex with a woman shouldn`t be acted on. Their choice affects no one other than themselves, and is not wrong.

What, every crime committed ON a gay person is a "hate crime" but crimes committed BY gays are ignored by the MSM.
So a guy (who happens to be gay) has his house broken into? HATE crime!
Two gays kidnap a 13 year old boy, beat & rape him for 3 days and leave him to die? NOT a story!

Sorry, while there are real victems of "gay bashing" the same can be said for every group in existance, including whites.

5Cats - you`re missing the point. Yes, all groups suffer some bigotry, the point of the story was that gays are more likely to be targeted.

And no, breaking into a homo-house is not considered a hate crime.

As for your example of the kidnappers... if they targeted the 13 year old BECAUSE of his race/religion/etc then it is a hate crime also.
