I think the idea is not that she`s a older lady but what we`ve been mad about all this time: the TSA patting us down inappropriately.

@number43: No, not everyday, but often enough. And no, I`m glad were not only frisking middle-eastern men, or what not. I was simply pointing out that terrorists have both primary and secondary goals. Primary being of course, killing us. Causing terror, changing our lives, trying to bankrupt us, and causing internal discourse are secondary ones, and they`re doing a fair job of all that, aren`t they?

jtrebowski, your daily routine involves getting on an airplane?

I say everyone should be put into hibernation in a stasis tube like a sci-fi movie. And the tubes be blast resistant so the mofo just blows himself up.

I guess the joke is that they are searching some grandma? And what would the caption read if they let all the old ladies go through while stopping the middle eastern looking men?

Jeez people stop complaining and just get over it. It`s just someone doing there job, there aren`t any predators trying to feel boobs. Think about gynecologists or doctors who have to do even more humiliating things. The end result is just trying to keep people safe.

"Take some time to study international terrorism, or at least do some research."

Its also about inferiority complexes.

Yes...I do. Take some time to study international terrorism, or at least do some research. It`s not just about killing people. It`s also about disrupting our lives and changing our daily routine, not to mention taking away freedoms and liberties...even if they`re small ones.

Airport security is just another way of letting you know that big corps can fck with you any time they want, and theres nothing you can do about it.
Picture this, you cant bring weapons inside the plane, but, if the trip is long enough, youll be provided with knife and fork. Also glasses, no cups, pillows to sofocate someone, etc. Why dont you just open the door to see if anybody dies?
I remember carling saying once that if you really really wanted, and you had big hands, its easy enough to kill both pilot and copilot at once

I go to the airport 1-2 times a month just for the free cavity search.

@radoinc-

I see what you`re saying- and I agree that DixxyRarr`s argument in and of itself doesn`t hold water for the reasons you mentioned. But letting people fly on an airplane without checking to make sure they have weapons is genuinely dangerous for everybody on the plane (and ground). Frisking people is not a gross violation of their privacy- you have to get frisked when you go to concerts, too. At least at many arenas.

Telling people that they shouldn`t speak freely if they don`t want to get arrested is absurd- whatever security is gained by preventing free speech is gained solely by the people in power. Such action cannot be truly justified ethically.

@DixxyRarr

It`s not about safety or sacrifices.
You know, there was a time when people said "If you don`t want to get beaten just don`t be a black guy/woman/gay who wants equal rights". In my (once communist) country they said "if you don`t want to get in jail don`t speak freely".
The thing that bugs me is making it sound like your choice (flying in this case) is your fault and you should suffer because of it. Although frisking at airports at this time might be a necessary evil, we should recognize it as such and not fool ourselves that it`s inevitable and normal.

"Thank god that stupid people like you are never allowed to make decisions. Thanks to this we have some nice things called civil rights."

Since when is flying on an airplane a right? While I agree that the US Government has gone WAY too far in eroding civil liberties in the name of "security," I don`t think that requiring more stringent security checks at airports should be considered going too far (However wiretapping, infiltration of activist groups, "enhanced" interrogation methods, and the assassination of American citizens abroad DO fall in that category).

It`s rather unfortunate that all the airport "security" is all bluster and show. Since a majority of airports are still fairly easy to `penetrate` if one was to do harm.

All the security measures that make air travel expensive and a pain; the money from these is being pocketed by the airlines, instead invested into actual security.

@jtrebowski - I do not use the term "Muslims" to mean "terrorists", that is your interpretation... Nowhere do I refer to terrorist in my reply, only to killing.

And who says she is a sweet little old lady from Corn Hole Iowa?!

Do you seriously believe that Al-Queada (the terrorist) points and laughs at us and says "HAHAHAH...look...WE made them do that!! We are victorious!!"? Really think that is what they are after?
It’s not just because of the terrorist that we have security reasons (they are more strict on following them through since a terrorist attack) but because people in general do crazy and dangerous things.

It`s sad that it`s come to this, but I agree with those who say if you don`t like it, lump it. When I fly, I always wear a zip-up sweatshirt with a tank top type of thing underneath, jog pants or jeans and slide on shoes. Take off said sweatshirt, slide off shoes, throw in bin, go through detector, get frisked, and move along. I mean, sometimes you just have to play along for the common good. I do not like the x-ray machine because I just don`t feel good about being blasted with an x-ray for a non-medical purpose - but that`s just me and at least you can refuse it.

I do think it`s only a matter of time though until we all have to fly naked and can`t even bring a magazine on board.

But yes, the liquid thing is a pain in the ass.

I`m totally okay with this. I fly often, and getting frisked is just part of the experience. If you don`t like it, don`t fly. And I`m glad to see that security isn`t profiling for the "typical" looking terrorist (if there were such a thing).
I like to feel safe when I travel, and I appreciate that security is more than happy to fondle people`s naughty bits for bombs and the like.

That liquids thing though, what a pain... but them`s the rules.

Obviously someone who is old could never ever ever hold the same beliefs as someone who is young. She obviously couldnt have any reason to try and bomb a plane. Therefore we should only screen people with dark skin, because only they could be terrorists.

You American dippoos.

@ Oblivia: I see you`re one of those people who use the term "Muslims" to mean "terrorists", which still begs the question as to why this sweet little old lady from Corn Hole Iowa is getting the space between her sagging tits frisked. Also, you do realize that the more "security" measures we enact, the more Al-Queada (the terrorists) points and laughs at us and says "HAHAHAH...look...WE made them do that!! We are victorious!!"

My 2 year old daughter was frisked going through leeds airport in england. She just stood there with her arms up, but managed to keep her thumb in her mouth at all times. All because she got upset when the mongs grabbed her teddy off her and put it through the x ray scanner
It`s really insane to think that guards groping grannies keeps us safe from terrorism.
It`s not about keeping people safe from terrorism. It`s about being seen to be doing something and it`s about eroding the inconvenient idea of freedom. Terrorism is much lower down the list. It`s not as though they could really stop it, anyway.

@Volsunga - what`s so f*cked up about that? If I was an old white lady and know I would not get scanned I would use the advantage of not getting scanned and killed a bunch of let`s say Muslims!

Also, remember the story about the young Asian who got on the plane looking like a old white man! Let`s just keep "wasting" time shall we…
