This music is so slick! I can imagine it as the soundtrack to a movie where some drifter pulls up to a gas station in Santa Fe in the 70`s, and when the gas station attendant asks him "Where ya from?", He gives some short, witty answer, like "Boss, I ain`t from nowhere. And where am I goin? Well ain`t no one I met can answer that yet."

@lukas1051

"the country was Great Britain for a long time"

It has never been called that, apart from casually.

Great Britain is the name of the island on which England, Wales and Scotland reside. The name of the country was, after the unification of England and Scotland in 1707, "The United Kingdom of Great Britain", and later "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland", and eventually "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" as it is today.

@SvampeBob

"damn the soviet union and Nazi`s were powerful! thank god they didn`t cooperated"

Are you trolling, or just plain ignorant?

It was short-lived, and done for pragmatic rather than ideological reasons, but it qualifies as co-operation.

"Sure, 5Cats. That`s such a amazingly lucid argument. I`m sure Native Americans all over the continent you live on would whole-heartedly agree."

Um, @mvangild? You just agreed with me, you do know that, right?
And since y`all are an American I must inform you that I live on the SAME continent as y`all? So it`s "the continent WE live on" eh? M-kay then...

So I hope all the anti-Israelies see this and understand that a border that existed 300 years ago is MEANINGLESS today, eh?
Also a couple of innacuracies I noticed such as portraying the Jacobite Rebellions as a Scottish offensive.
They were an offensive by a Scottish army led by a Scotsman. They started in Scotland and they invaded England in an attempt to seize the throne.

Looks quite like a Scottish offensive to me, although you could argue that it was French (the French king stirred it up) or Catholic (religion was a factor).
ya seriously europe... what the eff is wrong with you guys... imagine how much more poo you could get done if you want disputing territory all the time
This was a sort of stable time period in Europe and the scale obscures more local conflicts. I`d say that there was a lot more conflict in this area in the 5 or 6 centuries before this as the Roman empire rapidly collapsed and everyone+dog decided it was their right to rule.

As for "getting poo done", almost everything in a vast chunk of the world came out of Europe and western Asia. The Bronze age. Western civilisation. Major empires. The Iron age. More empires. The industrial revolution. The USA. Etc. Etc.

It was pretty cool watching WWII happen.

I wish that they would have put sometihng in one of the corners that listed the years as they went on.

@Edana, Germany was so big and so small before WWII because of WWI.

The United Kingdom and Great Britain are certainly not the same. I can see what happened, the country was Great Britain for a long time and when it acquired Northern Island, the person who made this must have simply forgot to change it... but surely the one part you would get right would be the current situation, no?
lucas1051 no mistake there you can use either Great britian or the United kingdom to describe all four nations both are acceptable terms to use
Bullcrap. Great Britain is the name of that island that`s made up (today) of England, Scotland and Wales. The UK is the name of the country. In fact, right here on my passport, the full name of the country is "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland".

You try telling someone from Northern Ireland (like me) that the terms Great Britain and United Kingdom are synonyms - they are not.

@lukas1051 - I didn`t see that. What I saw was England, Wales, and Scotland labeled Great Britain and the island of Ireland kept its label after it split into Republic and Northern. I noticed Corsica wasn`t labeled, but I`m not going to asume the name of the island is France because that`s the name of the main body.

Good stuff! A human geography professor once showed us a similar video with population nodes instead of territory changes. It was intense through the bubonic plague. It had a time-line at the bottom, with a bar that moved across it, which made it much easier to grasp than this one. It`d be awesome to see one with those two information sets combined, if the creator could figure out how to make it so it isn`t too garbled looking.

I agree with the need of a year indicator. I know much of the history, but I can`t say exact years.

Also, there`s so much happening that you can`t concentrate on the entire thing, all at once. You have to watch it a few times looking at different parts of europe.

Since when have England, Wale, Scotland and Northern Island been known as Great Britain? Glaring mistake there...

this is really cool.

if the creator is reading this, good job... but you could use an indicator of the years that go by... i dont know about anyone else, but i paused quite a lot to see the changes: it would have been good to know what year they happened.

yes yes, i could open a text book. but come on now. that isnt going to happen.
