oh so we "progressives" (I`m assuming GBeck gave you that one) deflect, evade whatever. Then you went to talk about corperate donations to campaign coverage.
The issue at hand, and at the story was that a news station that is supposided to fair and bais makes direct contribution to one party in particular, it`s completely different if it is the employees that donate their own personal money, because people are free to do what they want. (again, if that information is even true, because I really may have missed it)

Personally I don`t really care if they donated or not, they just should recongize that they aren`t so fair and balanced after all. My issue was the number of logical falacies in your arguement haha

My point in posting this was not so much to simply point out that Fox donates to the Republican party, but rather to point out the hipocracy involved. Fox makes a point of saying they are fair and balanced and the "no spin zone" every chance they get, yet this is obviously not true, as evidenced by their political contributions. I`m not disputing that other media organiztions contribute politically, just that you don`t hear the "fair and balanced" talk every two seconds on other networks who contribute one way or another.

One final post Burton, then I have to go. You claimed you couldn`t even find sources for the info I mentioned in my original post. Perhaps you should search harder next time. It comes straight from the FEC! LOL

Quite public and readily available to anyone who knows how to search. (Found it in less than 20 seconds)

Bottom line is people have preferences plain and simple and can donate to whoever the heck they want. Is it not their right to do so? I suppose it`s only a right when they donate to Liberal causes eh?

Continued:
Hayes urged his colleagues – especially the straight news reporters who were charged with covering the campaign in a neutral way – to bury the Wright scandal. “I’m not saying we should all rush en masse to defend Wright. If you don’t think he’s worthy of defense, don’t defend him! What I’m saying is that there is no earthly reason to use our various platforms to discuss what about Wright we find objectionable,” Hayes said.

I could go on, and fill up 10 pages with all the conversations that were found by members of the liberal media planning, and discussing how to manipulate their reports specifically to help the Democrat party. So are you all going to condemn this, or are you going to start making excuses as you always do?

I`d be willing to bet that most of you Libs had no idea this even happened in 08. Too busy looking for dirt on the Conservatives to read real news. Feigned outrage - Gotta lo

Continued: "Chris Hayes of the Nation posted on April 29, 2008, urging his colleagues to ignore Wright. Hayes directed his message to “particularly those in the ostensible mainstream media” who were members of the list.

The Wright controversy, Hayes argued, was not about Wright at all. Instead, “It has everything to do with the attempts of the right to maintain control of the country.”

Hayes castigated his fellow liberals for criticizing Wright. “All this hand wringing about just how awful and odious Rev. Wright remarks are just keeps the hustle going.”

“Our country disappears people. It tortures people. It has the blood of as many as one million Iraqi civilians — men, women, children, the infirmed — on its hands. You’ll forgive me if I just can’t quite dredge up the requisite amount of outrage over Barack Obama’s pastor,” Hayes wrote.

Hayes urged – especially th

Burton, if you`re such a cheerleader of "fair and balance" then why weren`t you, or any of these other Libs up in arms about the PLANNED MANIPULATION of the public during the Obama election? (Direct quotes):

"Spencer Ackerman of the Washington Independent urged his colleagues to deflect attention from Obama’s relationship with Wright by changing the subject. Pick one of Obama’s conservative critics, Ackerman wrote, “Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares — and call them racists.”

Hmmmm. Sound like fair reporting to you? Or how about:

I`m laughing as I watch how far these progressives are willing to stretch to attempt to make excuses for their own political party.

- Amazing how these Libs like to dodge, evade, and deflect.

Liberal-Biased Media who have been known to contribute to the Democratic party: NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC

... line is that "democrats got 88% of 2008 contributions from news execs... blah blah blah" when, logically, that is a complete fail. for one, "The Democratic total of $1,020,816 was given by 1,160 employees" Those were private contributions (if that`s even the real data), and that just barely amounts the the total that News Corp donated, that doesn`t even include the amount that Fox employees would have donated. I mean, maybe it`s just I spend too much time critically thinking, but you should really give it a try sometime.

And then we go to the data itself, the blog states that it was based on a report from the "center for responsive politics" and published by "open secrets" which both are real, surprisingly. More surprising though is that the blog did not post any citations for the informations, which is because it`s complete crap. I searched open secrets, and crp, but no such report exists.

Basically, I know when people a

alright "cuthere2" first off, I tried to track down your information, because I admit, I was curious to see if it had any validity. And I`m pretty glad I like to check my facts before just spurting out something I found in a "blog".

First, the data about campaign contributions was from the ABC, NBC, and CBS employees themselves (I`ll go into the validity of their findings in a minute). Those (supposedly) were private contributions made to candidates, party, and not from the actually news corporations themselves. It is also noteworthy to mention that the one obviously-baised blog that had this information made the distinction that the average contribution was around $800, and not one million from a freaking corporation that`s motto is fair and balanced!

Second, and most importantly, the information is crap. This "breaking news story" came from "the examiner" which was completely right heavy, unapologetically so in fact. It`s tag

Thanks @CutHere2, notice how silent Baalth got after being asked about other networks` contributions? lolz!
"80% shift of all media combined" HAHAHAHAHA!

It`s typical liberal "thinking": if YOU (conservatives) do it, it`s BAD. If I (liberals) do it, it`s OK, reasonable, neccessary, nuanced...

Typical Liberals being hypocrites, how surprising! Interesting how the poster of this article completely ignores the fact that in 2008, NBC, ABC, and CBS all gave more than 88% of their contributions to the Democrats.

So one of two things has happened here. Either you knew this but decided to ignore it like a hypocrite. Or you are ignorant, and deliberately search for pro Liberal, and anti-Conservative articles to post.

Either option demonstrates how unreliable Liberal sourced news is. Do your research next time. Present facts, not bias. (I imagine that`s asking a lot)

As a matter of fact, I do. You can hear more liberal voices on Fox than you can hear conservative voices on ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and MSNBC combined.

Of course, liberal Fox haters like you don`t think conservatives should be allowed to speak at all. We should just shut the f*** up and let Keith Uberdork and Rachael Madcow TELL us who conservatives are and what they think (we`re all a bunch of evil, insane, stupid racists, bigots, and homophobes who should all be shipped off to reeducation camps till we learn to sing the praises of Dear Leader Obama).

Cagel is right. The actual term when a corporation is licensed is it is birthed. A corporation is considered an individual in all aspects of our legal system in U.S.A.

Gerry1of1: In the US corporations are considered individuals. They are separate legal entities from the individuals that make them up.

auburnjunky: CNN does not bill itself as "Fair and Balanced." The issue here is that Fox News repeatedly asserts that they are a legitimate News organization, actual journalists. They are not. US News is predominantly Yellow Press at this point. That is the reason that I would agree that "this is not news," rather than making this a right vs. left issue. Journalistic integrity does not exist when it comes to corporate-owned news outlets.

Link, Baalthazag, link, tho I am sure your numbers are correct. MSNBC has consistently had multiple different ideological spectrums represented, mostly on their morning programs, where Scarboro[sic] and Mika host, and Pat Buchanan frequently sits in. Greta may be centrist, but O`Rily, Beck, Hannity are all very much on the right-wing. I don`t watch any of them really, but I do read the three major news sites, as well as some others, and I do find the slant, hiring of right-wing politicians, and amount of misinformation of Fox News very disturbing.

Goddamnit 5 Cats, why do I even waste my time looking up your bullpoo for you. Are you talking about the money GM gave this election?

Because fi you are that`s $91500, and is made up of $45500 to Republicans and $46000 to Democrats.

The I will concede entirely then, that GM (and therefore MSNBC) apparently favors the democrats by that half percent.

Link.

Now, about that 80% shift in ALL OF MEDIA COMBINED that Fox just caused?

Crakr, your link didn`t work, I found one on my own.

65% of Journalists who donated, donated to Democratic party. 45% to Republicans.

In amounts averaging $500. If you include FOX`s donation, that`s an 80% Skew towards the Republicans.

As for your comment of "I just find it ridiculous to try and paint these contributions by Fox as sinister when the other news companies are doing the very same thing via their employees. "

Erm, no, most respectable news organizations have policies on *not* donating, and tell their employees not to, though most won`t stop them (because that would mean taking away their rights).

The companies aren`t "doing it through their employees".

Individual journalist can donate to who ever they like, it is their PERSONAL right to do so. The Corporation, News Corp(not a person), has crossed into partisan territory, thus compromises any and all affiliates and companies owned by News Corp.

Now this would be a non-story if Chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch did the donating since that`s his right, but it wasn`t, it was the company that he controls.

Anyone that thinks that Fox is the only news source that is bias seriously needs to get their head checked. You also have to keep in mind that there is a difference between the actual news and opinion shows. Even with that said, not all of the Fox opinion shows are aimed toward the GOP side of things. Bill O`Reilly is a centrist, Greta is a centrist, Beck is a libertarian (although I will have to say he leans to the right).. can`t say how many times i`ve seen Beck go after republicans on his show. Hannity is the only one that you could definitely say is a republican. Look at MSNBC, do they have any opinion show that features a republican? Maddow? No. Olberman? No? Shultz? No. All are definite lefties.

Anyway, for those that haven`t realized it yet, all the news is biased.

What a joke. Look at any poll conducted for the political donations of journalists and news anchors. You`ll see they skew overwhelmingly for liberal or democratic politicians. Oooo, scary Fox News, actually putting some conservative PUNDITS on the air. They have anchors and they have opinion people. It`s better than MessNBC or any of the other failing piece of garbage "news" networks out there.

Want to know why FoxNews consistently has the best TV ratings out of any network? Because people under 45 don`t watch the TV for their news - they use this thing called the INTERNET.

My grandma, on the otherhand, literally leaves FoxNews on all day long. "Its the least biased channel out there," she says. Ok Grandma, Ok.
