I got it. One of the secret herbs and spices is MSG! I can`t believe I didn`t figure this out sooner.

What of these danged chemicals only known to the State of California? And what is the State of California, anyway? Liquid, solid, or anarchy?

This picture is stupid, because this law is stupid. Just about every store in California is required to have these signs due to state laws. California isn`t what it use to be.

*Sighs* Wish I could move to a less ruined state.

I can`t find this poster on KFC`s website. Although the grilled chicken is pretty much drenched in MSG and hydrogenated oils. The chicken itself has MSG on it and so does the seasoning.

(I would post the link, but I can`t do that I guess.) :(

There is MSG in the blacken seasoning. Also, those grilled stripes are not actually from the grille, it is called liquid smoke and that is what gives the chicken that grilled taste.

KFC is tasty.

The sun and the air you breathe cause more cancer than this.

Lighten up people. It`s just Cali being overly cautious again.

Yeah - those Prop 65 notices ARE everywhere, and not even strictly relegated to foodstuffs either. You`ll find them in apartment complexes, bathrooms, even hospitals -basically anywhere there`s ever been or could possibly be tobacco smoke, car exhaust, or poo you`re not supposed to put in your mouth. Yep, yet another example of overweening self-defeating nanny stateism at its finest.

If everything that had that warning actually routinely caused cancer, there`d be a LOT more cancer than there is now.

Relax, life`s too short without spending it worrying about making it shorter by eating some f*ing chicken.

HAHAhahaha! Oh, you do know that they`re both owned by the same parent Corp, eh? If so the that`s a good j/k right there!
Up here in Canada, we now mostly have dual KFC/Taco Bells (ie both are in the same building) and only a few that are stand-alone anymore.

MeGrendel. Got my numbers mixed. There`s so damned many of them out here. I will correct you that LA, Orange County and the Bay Area are the land of fruits and nuts. The rest of California doesn`t have their head shoved up their asses any farther than the rest of the country.

Anything and everything causes cancer with the right dosage.... Cancer is just the dying of cells with the inabilty to reproduce said cells

Not quite. Cancer is a general, over-arching term for a number of different diseases that cause instability in the cell`s normal ability to grow and reproduce.

This could mean the cells grow excessively without reproducing, which causes the cells infected to continue growing uncontrolled. It could also mean that cell starts reproducing at an incredibly high rate, which leads to mass-growths of many cells that could branch off and infect other parts of the body.

At least, that`s what I picked up when the doctor explained it when my grandfather had it... I could br wrong, though. Not like I`ve been through medical school, or plan to, honestly...

Buck176 "It is just a stupid prop 16"

Actually, I think you mean Prop 65: which puts this warning on anything sold or shipped to California except for Bottled Water and Tan in a Can. (Prop 16 had to do with Public Electric facilities, and it was defeated).

Prop 65 started in 1986 and now lists over 800 chemicals that `may` cause cancer and/or birth defects. What `was` a decent idea, is now just a bat to bash businesses over the head with frivalous lawsuits.

If it weren`t that it was a large market, it would be so much easier NOT to ship any product to California.

Hey, but that`s we call California `GranolaLand`..it`s full of nuts, fruits and flakes.

This is strictly a state of California thing, not a FDA thing. Not only that, the words say that these substances "may be present in foods and beverages sold here." Meaning not necessarily the grilled chicken.

The Californian government, being the "progressive" state it is, is just being supersensitive as always.

OH GOOD GRIEF PEOPLE! The reason that they have to put that on there is because grilled foods contain heterocyclic amines (HCAs). In January of 2005, the federal government officially added HCAs to its list of known carcinogens. They have to add these warnings because the FDA requires them to, not because KFC adds suspicious cancer causing chemicals to your food. You can ingest these HCAs just by throwing burgers on your grill in your backyard!

It is just a stupid prop 16 warning. They are everywhere in Ca. Go to a sea food restaurant here. They have so many warning signs because of prop 16 you`d think just looking at the menu will kill you.

>It`s akin to the warnings about side effects on the leaflets you get with drugs. Even over the counter stuff has them because maybe one person in a hundred thousand might have those side effects.

If I happen to be bleeding out of my anus I think I`d like to know that it`s because of the cough syrup, so I can stop taking it. Hell, I get side effects from drugs that aren`t even listed as side effects for it.

ajd121... yep. well, no not really, but in California it does.

some of the sweeteners or flavorings, when given to rats in HUGE doses cause cancer so in CA all food service places have cancer disclaimers.

even my car dealership has a cancer disclaimer because some parts of the car [if consumed] cause cancer.

California is a very strange place.

For the cancer, my guess would be the slightly burnt outer sections inevitable in grilled meat. Oh dear, how sad...but never mind. For the others, who knows? Or cares. If there was any significant risk it would be illegal to sell the stuff, so there can`t be any significant risk. I`d only read the leaflet with more information because I am very curious about all sorts of things.

It`s akin to the warnings about side effects on the leaflets you get with drugs. Even over the counter stuff has them because maybe one person in a hundred thousand might have those side effects.

Chairs need warning labels! Sitting can cause deep vein thrombosis!

Top Gear reviewed a Dodge Viper a while back. It was festooned with mandatory warning labels. On the door next to the driver was one ordering DRIVE CAREFULLY. Clarkson looked at it, said "no", shut the door and roared off with the wheels spinning wildly to hoon it sideways around corners for a laugh.

Wow California, overboard much? Every damn thing that`s not the farts of unicorns causes cancer, just some moreso than others.

Maybe have a sign at every crosswalk saying: "It is known by the State of California that crossing this road may result in serious injury, loss of limbs, permanent coma or death."

Ah, Kitteh beat me to the sentiment.

See, it`s only the state of California that thinks everything causes cancer/birth defects. They take coincidence a bit too far sometimes. I get that a lot of poo causes cancer, but come on California. You`ve crossed the brink of crazy.
