seabass101dg, it`s only 5Cats who mentioned hate. I don`t really have any big problems with this ad. I don`t understand why a democrat would run this ad, but I guess he is going for a certain demographic.

I think that if I were an NRA member/republican/right-leaning independent, I would feel a little bit patronised by ads like this. It`s as if I would instantly think that he`s the right man for the job because he is holding a completely irrelevant gun.

As someone from WV, the majority of the state is not as dumb as the world gives us credit. As far as normal politics go, I think this ad is fairly cut and dry. Wv is a RED state So any democrat that runs for any political office needs to appeal to the republican right wing redneck majority.

Wow this is pretty bland. I figured he was going to shoot a portrait of Obama or Pelosi or something.

So a W. Virginian who is running for office knows that his people care about Cap and Trade and 2nd Amendment rights? And so he shoots the bill?

YES this is a political ad by a DEMOCRAT! He only mentions Obama to criticise him (or his policies at least) and NOT ONCE mentions his own political affiliation!
    Laugh-My-Ass-Off!
AS since I`m `just north of the border` perhaps I have some clear-eyed insight to American politics, eh?

I love guns, I think Canada`s gun laws CAUSE more crime and death. Billions of dollars sunk into the "long rifle registration" for ZERO effect. Yeah, I have exposure to guns, the gangs in MY neighborhood fire them a lot...

There`s just a WEE bit of a problem with the description of this video:

This is not a GOP ad, this is an add for the DEMOCRATIC Party nominee for United States Senator from West Virginia.

The way you can tell is: Since this is a Democrat, no one in the Main Stream Media is upset with it. HAD it be a Republcan Ad, the Main Streem Media would have been all over him as being `bitter` and `clinging to his guns and his religion.` And I`m sure the term `Redneck` and `Racist would have been thrown in.

    Double-standard much?

So, IAB, get your facts straight.

I`m assuming you`re either using exaggeration, or are referring to the post about the Beck Vs. One Nation rallies.

In which case, I was stating my current point, and also pointing out the stupidity of you using "liberal" as an insult against anyone that doesn`t agree with you. Considering that I`m not a liberal, and in fact was called a conservative by another dumbass quite similar to you on the opposite end of the spectrum.

And I`m just trying to make IAB entertaining again. The standards have slipped horribly, especially since Fancy took over, and this type of crap certainly isn`t making it better.

Once again, however, I also have to bring up the mis-use of the word "troll," since it doesn`t mean "anyone who doesn`t agree with you," like you seem to think, 5BrainCells.

A troll is someone who intentionally says something that`s meant to cause anger in someone else.

If anything, YOU are a troll, what with all these stupid politics posts that are, like I`ve said before, are just desperate attempts to start a flame-war.

This is why I consider myself an Independent. Both sides are so full of BS. If its not Fox News that brainwashes people to be obnoxiously conservative, its sites like this that are very liberal and act like every conservative is an uneducated non-nice individual. I wish my state had more ads like this that clearly conveys the candidate opinions (even though I don`t agree with them) with out all the mud-slinging. IAB is a great website, I don`t post much but I still really enjoy it. It would be nice though if we could but down on the anti-conservative sentiment here.

I`m a West Virginian, and I actually met Joe Manchin once for about two hours (because my mother is important lol). He`s legitimately nice, not Politician nice. He`s running this ad because his opponent (John Raese, quite the d*ck, research him) has been constantly running attack ads about the Cap and Trade bill and how "Rubber stamp Joe" is a puppet for Obama and will ruin West Virginia. He`s been a fantastic Governor, reelected last term with around 70% popular vote, so he was caught off guard when he got behind in the polls. He needed an ad this strong to clearly send the message he isn`t for the Cap and Trade bill.
So... yeah. Explanation for the over-the-topness lol

Leave IAB to the things that are actually entertaining. If I wanted to watch political ads and see political pissing contests, I would subscribe to some blogs and watch the news.

Guess what? I don`t. I come here. For entertainment, and the latest in wierd, awesome, obscenely depressing, vomit-inducing, etc.

I see enough political ads and crap in the mornings before class. I don`t need to see them here, of all places.

i`m starting to get a clear picture of how the iab mods employ cheap tactics suck as fast tracking controversial political/religious posts to encourage flame wars and bring up the view count. i wouldn`t mind if they at least upgraded this ludicrously obsolete pre 2001 layout but we all know that`s not gonna happen. pretty drat|ng depressing if you ask me.

Fine, f*ck it. IAB can go ahead and pull an MTV or a /b/. I don`t give a sh*t anymore.

I LIKED this site. It used to be fun to come home, sit back, and screw around for a while when I had nothing else to do. I could laugh, play fun games (back when they weren`t almost completely physics games), "awww" a little...

It used to be great. But now look... Three politics posts on the front page alone, the games page has five-or-six non-physics flash games that were actually fun (and has also become the dump-all for when no one wants to sort the post where it belongs) over the course of the first couple pages I checked...

But here`s the thing... You know what I HAVEN`T seen a lot of recently?

Deliberate religious flame-war posts. Because people started bitching.

Short of hacking, bitching is pretty much the only thing we normal visitors can do to change what gets passed in submission. It`s worked once, why can`t it work again?

"All politics are full of crap, therefor all politics should just be sorted through."

Tell you what, Altaru. When you get out in the big, bad world and actually are a productive, tax-paying citizen (if that ever happens) you`re probably going to change your mind about politics. You`ll be asking "Who the hell is FICA and why is he taking a pooload of my paycheck".

But then again, you may be one of those who prefers to survive on the efforts of others and enjoys the money Momma Guv`mint takes from productive citizens. After all, why should `They` have more money just because `They` work?

IF you ever see 30+% of your paycheck taken every week, YOU`LL probably give a poo over how it`s spent.

If you don`t, then you`re an idiot.

Altaru, seriously, calm down. If you don`t like the political posts then for heaven`s sake don`t click on them!

I like political posts. I like physics games. I like the religious posts (of which I think there are still plenty). Do I demand that IAB should be all politics/religion/physics games/whatever else I`m interested in? No. If I don`t think I`ll be interested, I don`t click the link.

I do agree with altaru, this site relies heavily on flame wars, and every other post is either religion bashing or GOP bashing. I don`t mind politics here, but not as it stands currently. There are rarely ever posts saying "Look the GOP is doing something good!" Point in case, a while ago I tried submitting a link where Bill O`Reilly donated something close to $200,000 to a family who lost a counter sue by the Westboro Baptist Church. Did that post get through? No.

I guess anything to get hit...

Jokes on you, I already AM working after class. And I STILL think politics are crap.

Or, at the least, that I`d rather not have to deal with politics while I`m trying to relax and have fun on a website that`s about relaxing and having fun. And I can`t be the only one who feels that way.

IF you ever see 30+% of your paycheck taken every week, YOU`LL probably give a poo over how it`s spent.
As far as I`m concerned, I don`t give a sh*t how it`s spent. For two reasons:

    A) It`s probably not going to positively affect me in the first place, and

    B) Personally, I don`t think they should be taking it anyway. Why should I bust my ass to pay them?

I agree with Altaru that there`s a LOT of American politics on this website now. And I agree that the game submissions have been lacking and are usually crappy. While I like thought-provoking posts, and I like reading comments, at the same time it seems like over half the posts are big flame issues, and not enough of the other lighter stuff. But that`s just what I`ve noticed as a trend. At the same time I could just not click on those kind of posts, but I usually enjoy reading flame wars :P

I`ll let you guys in on a little secret. The quality of content here on IAB is almost entirely determined by you, the user.
And not in the "Let`s bitch until it`s fixed" way Altaru thinks. In the find-good-stuff-and-submit-it way.

Everyone on the modding team except fancy is a volunteer. We all have busy lives outside IAB, and we simply do not have the time to trawl the internet looking for 25 outstanding links per day.

What we DO have is a userbase of thousands. If those thousands of users each submit just one link PER WEEK, we will have a huge backlog of content before we know it.

I`ve just been to the admin panel, and I can tell you that in total, we have exactly 82 unapproved suggestions to look through, before we have to find content ourselves. That`s roughly 3 days` worth, assuming all of it is of an acceptable standard.

There is exactly 1 game suggestion. It`s a physics game.

I do agree with you almightybob1, but it`s not as simple as that. In the course of the 3 years I`ve been here, I`ve submitted about 24 links or so. I`ve only had 2 approved.
2/24 is not a good ratio. I would say have the mods be less strict as what gets through, but more strict on reposts.
The one day there were about 20 posts of the day, 15 of them were from fancy.

No, 82 links is around 3 days worth of content. As in, we have so few suggestions from the users in our "suggestion bank" that as it stands we could run out in 3 days, or resort to putting in whatever the 10 or so mods can find at short notice.

vv What Bob said. And as he mentioned earlier, all the Mods here are volunteers, we all have jobs and lives and families. We`re just trying to keep fellow IABers like ourselves (like he said, we`re just volunteers from the regular userbase) unbored for a few minutes a day, for free. We have no "agenda" beyond bringing relief from the ennui of life. Sometimes it`s nutshots, sometimes it`s religious flamewars that smoulder for days, sometimes it`s 10 funny pics, sometimes it`s positing (no typo) a political discussion. Heck, there`s even going to be a Halloween Costume Competition again this year, with real prizes (sneak peek, not officially announced yet).

Not looking for free blowjobs here, but it kinda sucks to be constantly told how sh*tty a job we`re doing, when we`re doing it for free. Thumping the podium and demanding free entertainment is all well and good, but we`re trying our best with limited resources. Sincerely. C`mon guys, give us a break. Sheesh.

Clowns, ducks, and long words also don`t throw out rotating metal pellets at speeds high enough to punch a hole in your chest and leave you bleeding to death on the floor. They also weren`t invented for the simple sake of killing something.

As far as I`m concerned, guns aren`t a bad thing. They`re only a bad thing when they are in the hands of the wrong people, including criminals, people who aren`t responsible enough, etc.

People should have to prove they are responsible and have the right motivations before being allowed to handle something that is likely to result in death. As for the illegal guns... Get the soldiers out of the Middle East and start fighting the enemy on our home turf...
