I long for the day when we use hydrogen as fuel in our cars. I know some people get all freaked out by the word hydrogen, Because of the Hindenburg, But they have good safe fuel tanks for storing it now and it`s only exhaust is water. Cars that already run with gasoline could be easily converted as well.

CrakrJak, it`s still pretty difficult to make tanks, connectors, and fuel lines for H2 that don`t leak. Have you ever seen the space shuttle just before liftoff? All that vapor you see is leaking H2, and it`s not that NASA cuts corners; it`s just that the H2 molecule is so small and hard to contain.

Also, remember that H2 is not a SOURCE of energy; only a means of storing and using energy derived from other sources. Ideally, we would make it at nuclear power plants during off-peak hours. That way we could keep the plants running at full power 24-7, but again, storing and transporting it is tough.

It`s coming one of these days, but we still have quite a ways to go.

Don`t forget about sub-freezing issues that Hydrogen fuel cells have. I.E. water created by the cell freezes in the exhaust line..
