SmilinSam - It`s more than JUST blinking lights in a tube - although it is that.
You have to enter a preset combination on the buttons before you can make the lights blink. That, and it`s a tribute to a game - one that I`ve never really played much, but it`s said to be good; and I know good tributes when I see them.

Dad saw right off that this child was going to need some skills for the future.

i reckon its great that his dad is teaching him manual arts, rather than just leaving him to play nintendo.

Now add some 1 or 3 watt LEDs to the middle so that it`s fracking bright as hell when it charges.

@ChrisMunich What rock have you been hiding under?

This was really cool. That kid is really handy with tools. o.O I have no shop skill whatsoever, so this was fascinating just for that.

And Hertz is cycles/second.

Watts is Power, Joules is Energy, and AC/DC stands for Alternating Current/Direct Current. Most electronics use Direct Current, stuff like power tools may just use Alternating Current...there we go...also...I`m a girl, you manly men have been shamed! xD jkjk

Well that was certainly uninteresting, I suppose you`d have to be a fan of the video game, I hadn`t even heard of it till I googled it just now.

If it helps, AC/DC is the world-renowned Australian rock band with hit singles such as Back In Black, T.N.T, It`s a Long Way to the Top, Dirt Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, etc.
My dad tried and tried to get me interested in fixing or rebuilding broken things, and he is so anal about mundane details, and sucks at explaining why something mattered, he lost my attention as a child and frustrated me as a teen.
yikes. sounds like me and my son. I`ll try to avoid over-complicating things; thanks for the heads up. I don`t want my sons to grow up not understanding fundamentals of electricity.

Watts and Hertz as well...lol

It did look too rough, and a hot wire would have cut through that easily and neatly.

Samus is a girl, the suit is not.

My dad tried and tried to get me interested in fixing or rebuilding broken things, and he is so anal about mundane details, and sucks at explaining why something mattered, he lost my attention as a child and frustrated me as a teen.

I now know nothing about electrical stuff, except that it always has to go full circle....but I don`t understand voltage, amperes, joules.....AC/DC...??? I dunno...just reading my alarm clock now.

o.O I like it. Both the creation, regardless of what seemingly cynical splurbyburbl says, and the fathar-and-son side of it. ^^

Kid: "Daddy, how can I be a virgin for life?"
Dad: "Well son, the best way, I think, is to take on a Father-Son project where we make the female hand cannon from Metroid."
Kid: "Sweet! Can we post it on Youtube so I can ge picked on in school and never see a vagina for as long as I live??"
Dad: "Absolutely, son!"
Kid: "Super Duper! Golly-Gee, YEAH!!!"

I like that the son was doing a good deal of work on it himself. Good Dad and fun post.

Granted, Saumus is a weird choice but that`s the kind of quality father/son time that will keep his son from being another "Daddy didn`t hug me pic" on this site.

It`s Samus, not Saumus.

@bliznik

I was thinking the same thing. As cool as it all is, he`s still dressed as a girl for Halloween.

I`m surprised nerd father and son didn`t have or create a hot knife to cut through that foam. It looked rough as hell. Still though, it`s one night`s use he`s getting so in that vein, it`s all over-kill.

@bliznik: lol. I was kinda thinking the same thing. It`s true he`s dressing as a girl, but the costume itself really doesn`t give off all that much of a feminine vibe
