CJ, I agree with you however I think you`re incorrect on your assessment of "in god we trust."

It implies a trust in a god; the term "god," while often ascribed to the Judea/Christian concept of a god, is a neutral term. The phrase therefore simply implies in trusting a "higher being."

So it does not respect any religion particularly, making it bit of a loophole.

...I still think it should be removed but I also don`t think it violates the law.

I think that if you relax, clear your mind and put it through a truth table, you`ll find that it keeps each out the other.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion"
Means that the doctrine no particular religion may be favored.
"...Or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."
means that the government may not outlaw any particular religion, either.

To make a federal law requiring Christian/Jewish creationism in school is a clear violation of the first part but, then,
having "In God We Trust" on the federal currency is, also.

CJ, you`re dead wrong. The purpose of the establishment clause wasn`t to keep religion out of government; it was to keep government out of religion.

I never said it was. The words were used in the letters between the founding fathers. It was pretty clear that they wanted nothing to do with a government based on religion.

I said the idea was in the first phrase of the first amendment.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;"
It very clearly says not to make laws that incorporate religion into government and don`t make laws that regulate what religions are permissible.

CodeJockey: The phrase `separation of church and state` is not to be found anywhere in the constitution. Look it up, Source.

Crak, that is complete BS.

People don`t like Palin because she says naive, narrow minded shi#.
- On hearing Obama beat Clinton in primary: "We`ll, looks like Sambo beat The Bitch..."

People don`t like O`Donnell because she CONSTANTLY shows the lack of a grasp on reality.
- "Where in the constitution is there a separation of church and state?..." She was serious, meaning >>she didn`t recognize the phrase<< as being separate from "vote your conscience on behalf of your morals and your constituents."
- Sued the `Anti-Woman`s Liberation` org she was working for when they f*cked her over by making her assistant her boss.

Now, that does not mean that a Clinton (f*cking hot head, exaggerated the physical danger of diplomatic visit) or a Pelosi (tried to travel into a nation on the State Department`s `do not travel` list) are above scrutiny.

People judge them to be smarter.

Crakr- that is rubbish, I am not a Democrat, not American, I hate people, male or female who talk, promote and believe crap. Creationists are all included in that because their brains are apparently non-functional. I admire intelligent, good looking women who are high achievers - that means they require functioning brains.

davymid: Most politicians here are Christians, Because the majority of the people are as well. Nancy Pelosi is a democrat and catholic, I don`t see people criticizing her because she believes in the transmogrification of wine into blood, Do they ?

No, They criticize her because she a rabidly pro-abortion, Which goes against her catholic church tenants.

Very few people hate Sarah Palin or Christine O`Donnell because they are Christians. The democrats hate them because they are Conservative, Pretty, and Popular, The liberal women are, For the most part, Dried up hags.

I can give photo examples, If you choose to argue that point.

@ CrakrJak; "Then turnabout is fair play."

I agree, making fun of this woman is completely fair. However, when I make fun of Sarah Palin and Christine O`Donnell it`s because they`re uninformed on issues, and politically retarded- then when they make mistakes it`s exacerbation. It`s like talking trash about a crabs infested hooker and then making a joke about how they`ve probably evolved into lobsters.

It`s ancillary humor, not the root. The root is that they`re morons. I don`t make jokes about Eric Cantor or Lindsey Graham, or Mike Pence, or John Boner... lul.

because while I may not agree with all of their ideals I think they are largely sane individuals and I respect them as politicians and human beings.

When I posted this video I didn`t know who ascribed to which party- I did it because i`m 22 and the word "boners" is hilarious to me.

I`m with Davy- I doubt the mental acuity of someone who believes such rubbish. Mispronouncing words is one thing, but the ability sort between valid arguments, sound arguments and utter bullpoo is pretty much required for certain jobs. I think high governmental office is one.

"They severely heckled Sarah Palin over a few mispronounced words."
-She contracted a $20M road project in a town of 5K people with no clear way to pay at the time of commissioning.
-She`s been caught CC`ing her husband state confidential e-mail.
-That e-mail had to do her using her position to exact revenge.
-She`s attacked people for using a teleprompter yet, writes on her hand.
-Those words weren`t always mispronounced, she was making up a few, poorly.

I feel it`s too rude to go to a speech just to pan someone but, she IS a hypocritical idiot.
As an intelligent individual, you should distance yourself from her name and all she touches.
davymid: It`s not paranoia if they really are out to get you. Case in point, They severely heckled Sarah Palin over a few mispronounced words.
Crakr, with all due respect, bull the f*cking sh*t. Sarah Palin is heckled because she`s a mouth-breathing creationist, who believes the world was made in seven days about 6000 years ago. Nothing to do with her mispronouncing words. Same thing with that Christine chick.

Seriously, if you want people to agree with you, stop asking them to accept your weird parochial fables. It`s kinda hard for rational, educated people to take that seriously, what with this being 2010 and all.

So as long as the liberal pundits want to play this "Gotcha Politics" game, Then turnabout is fair play.

OK, OK. Do people not know that, particularly with 80`s generation southwestern folks, "boner" is slang for bonus?
That was completely intensional. After that, no was listening to either and everyone was associating her face with having a good time.

"...I`m getting tired of seeing these two slug it out on TV."
Having seen your avatar, I wonder: Was that a declaration of intent?

Ollie, can you ever make a post without right-wing political trolling? Is everything with you a political agenda from the Liberal Left?

Some broad said "big fat boners" on air. I LOL`d, so did many others. That`s all it is. Literally. End f*cking message, dude.

Ollie, I don`t mean this as an insult, I really don`t. But I`m glad I`m not you - I`d find it hard to live with that kind of eternal paranoia of analysing everything as us or them, based on political viewpoint.

Seriously dude, relax, enjoy the lulz.
