I think crows are legal in some states. They are very intelligent animals. They have the ability to recognize themselves in a mirror and if you snip their tongue a certain way they can be taught to talk with a rather large vocabulary... Quoth the raven....

Maybe it`s not a crow at all, maybe it`s a white dove from the gulf of Mexico and it`s trying to wash off all that BP oil.

Aww of the day, I would love to have this as a pet. I didn`t think it was even legal though, well not in Canada/North America anyway

Actually a very beautiful bird, I never really thought about it cause of the whole death symbolism. Good video.

I think it`s actually quite surprising that crows aren`t far more common as pets. I guess it`s that whole "harbinger of doom" thing they got goin` on.

They are by far the coolest birds though. I`d like one as a pet, but I would definitely keep it outside. My uncle used to have a pet crow. Lived in the area around his house, and would come sit on his shoulder when he whistled for it.

Then the neighbour shot it because it was eating his berries. Sad story, really.

beutiful bird... and thats some cute, But I`ve seen the size of their poop and you`d want to toilet train your crow. I think they are smart enough to use the toilet too

i hate birds as pets but a drating crow would be cool especially if you could teach it not to poo everywhere and to shut the drat up when it starts getting noisy

Crows, ravens, most intelligent of the birds. Corvidae apparently are even self-aware, so I imagine they would make good companion animals if you could allow them to cohabit rather than stick them in a cage.

Of course, should you die unattended they would probably eat your eyes. I`m not saying that`s a deal-breaker, but you might want to factor it in before giving them free access to your living quarters.

"I`m not sure that crows should be kept as pets"

The only things you need to keep something as a pet is the ability to keep it healthy and happy. Crows get along well with people, and they`re dietary requirements are simple, so they can make good pets.
They aren`t legal to trade though (at least in the states) so you`d have to aquire a wild one, which is unethical, unless you find one that can`t survive on it`s own anymore.

Why not, there a lot like dogs, but smarter (as in smart enough to make and use basic tools, like curving wire with there beaks to get bugs). I`d prefer a parrot if I was to get a bird, but these guys are pretty cool. We used to have a magpie as a kid, given they are Artamidae and not Crows as per see, still pretty cool.

"I`m not sure that crows should be kept as pets"

Why? Because they`re carnivorous and go for the eyes when threatened (whether or not that`s your intention)?

All corvids are super smart. Smart enough to make and use tools.

Great pets if you have a small space to keep them but the raven can live 40 years when captive so think it through.

If I could stand having a bird as a pet, It would definitely be a crow. They have a social tendency that`s not that different from a dog, and they have about the same level of intelligence. The only problem is, you can`t really discipline a bird if it does something bad, which a crow probably will, since they are capable of figuring out basic machinery and exploiting it.
