After a while, I noticed I was sitting at my desk saying the words out loud.
(I <3 the waterfall--it`s by my school.)

I had no clue what was going on for the longest time, so once I found out I watched it again and that was sweet

Beautifully done. This is why I love the internet. Without it, I would never have seen such a great piece.

@ edana42: I wasn`t really expecting an answer to an abstract question.

Good job at completely missing the point.

Nicely done, and the meaning was caught early on. But in the end, rather pointless.

@duffy--I didn`t see it as pointless. The statement is simply that words have many meanings. The dripping snot was referencing the word "run," and was preceded by a "run" in a stocking (coming off of "split")and a man going on a "run," and followed by "run"ny paint, "run"ning water, "run"ning a red light, a boy "run"ning away, and a "run"way, which has a plane "fly"ing by...etc, etc, etc. You don`t find that play on words enjoyable? If not, that`s cool, but recognize that it isn`t pointless.

ok so there are 9 words, PLAY, BLOW, BREAK, SPLIT, RUN, FLY, FALL, LIGHT, and SPACE each word has many meanings and representations, and the video as a whole is not meant to mean anything, it`s just a representation of meaning... if ya catch my drift?

It doesn`t have to be "neat and tidy", just not ultimately pointless. If they were going to put this much effort into it, why not have the words form coherent statements?

They include things like dripping SNOT (maybe suppose to be "edgy" or something?) as well as a load of feel-good "We are the world" type nonsense. Bleah.

took me a little while to see what they were doing but once I did I thought it was pretty cool. I suspect the people who don`t like it are the same people who get mad when a movie doesn`t have a neat and tidy ending...

This is a video short from NPR`s Radio Lab. The topic of the day was "Words." I found the video quite enjoyable, as it does a good job of showing how one word (eg: "play," "blow," "break," "split," etc) can take on so many meanings and, relatedly, emotions.

"Pretentious, self-indulgent, and ultimately meaningless. People say they "like it" out of fear that they didn`t understand something."

Frustrated because you didn`t get it? I understood it perfectly and enjoyed it.

That was creative. If there was any overall statement to be made, I didn`t see it. Just a general playing with words and their many meanings. It`s abstract, just take it for what it is.

boring. a minute and a half into it, and nothing interesting.

@edana42 It`s just a play on words. The same as the "Why do feet smell and noses run?"

@edana42: So then why is it called sunrise and sunset? Why not sunrise and sunfall? Or sunbreak and sunfall? IT MAKES NO SENSE! o.O

@ osirisascend
"Why does night fall and not break? Why day break and not fall?"

because the sun breaks over the horizon in the morning and falls below the horizon at night

@ madest: Nice video... I totally enjoyed that.

This reminds me of when my uncle asks me (yes he STILL freakin asks me this. I`m 23 years old.) "Why do feet smell and noses run?" and "Why can you drive on a parkway, but you park on a driveway?"
