I think this guy is an amazing individual for doing this, sort of channeling his tics into a rhythm. I love it! you rock, TS dude! :)

If I had Tourette`s, I would hope that the "f" word wasn`t the twitch my brain defaulted to. The "s" word or "crap" would be easier on everyone else, like my mom and grandma.

@SchrdngrsCat There are different severities and forms of tourettes and there are physical tics as well as vocal ones. "Coprolalia" (the spontaneous utterance of socially objectionable or taboo words or phrases) is an extremely rare form of tourettes. My boyfriend has TS and he never swears because of it. He makes at most little muffled noises if at all. Those noises are not a reaction to his tic they ARE the tic. Tics are preceded by an "urge", similar to how before you sneezed you had an urge to do so. My boyfriend feels relieved after he tics similar to how you feel after scratching a good itch. The swear word IS the tic in cases of coprolalia, not a reaction to a tic. Someone with coprolalia has urges to suddenly say those words.

@pui People with tourettes do not swear because the disease is forcing them do so. It`s normally just a subconscious reaction to the tics, like when you stub your toe.

It`s always funny to exploit tourettes for entertainment.
Eh, it`s not even funny anyway.

I have a mild case of physical TS. For me it mostly consists of constant throat clearing, eye rolling, and neck cracking. It is slightly controllable, but the problem is that you have to concentrate on it continuously. Some of the other comments are correct in saying that you can sort of suppress it, but once someone with TS gets alone after a day of suppressing, they will typically have an outburst of "ticks". The only way I can explain it, from my perspective, is that it`s a repetitive habit that you have to do until it "feels right". Like my neck cracking, for example, I have to do it until it physically hurts. If I don`t it becomes a nuisance and bugs the crap out of me until I satisfy the "tick".

@lostinkorea What is your point? To be fair, just because the swearing only happens in 10% of tourettes cases doesn`t mean it does not exist.

I have a mild case of tourettes and it is really really noticeable when I eat for some reason.
When I`m conscious of my "tics" I can suppress them but then the will just explode in a massive episode.

It`s great for metal concerts though.

If this dude has truly embraced his tourettes and is comfortable making fun of it, good on him! How many of us would sequester ourselves away in our houses and hide from the world?

@Handsompod I think you should lay off those who are skeptical. You do not have to be so defensive about it. I think it`s actually admirable that people are starting to question every crazy depiction of tourettes they see in movies and on the internet where there are tons of people faking the disorder and making fun of it by over-exaggerating the symptoms. There are people who do have aggressive tics like this (I do believe this guy to be one of them), but it only happens in about 10% of all tourettes cases. People today still assume that everyone with tourettes swears constantly (thanks to what they`ve seen depicted in movies and on the internet) when in reality that is very, very rare. Having skepticism leads to people actually educating themselves rather than continuing to promote a stereotype.

Once again, I get tourette`s (the ticks: verbal and physical)...

BUT...why is it always bad words and the most vile things being said. How come no one screams "Cuuupcakke", "Preeeettttyyy Laaddyyy"...

I call BS ; -)

Lolboy, if the constant physical ticks don`t convince you watch his other videos where he talks about his tourettes. Not that he needs to prove anything to someone who thinks this is shopped.

@Lolboy tourettes is somewhat containable and controllable. For example someone with tourettes can suppress a lot of their tics and release a burst of them later in private, so I don`t think it`s hard to believe he could suppress the tic until the end of the phrase.

Although I`m inclined to agree. He could genuinely have tourettes, but swearing all the way through the song seems like he at the very least played it up a bit.

If he had tourettes, why did all of his "drats" happen to be on the off beat between verses?

RubixCuban, No, I didn`t just let him grab it. I`d just had it peirced and he was curious to see it. I showed it him he then just reached out and grabbed it. I should point out that this was in a crowded pub not in the showers or anything. He does things he knows he shouldn`t do, like the shouting.

Pui, yes Jay gets like that sometimes. He gets very grumpy at night because he`s been so hyper all day.

@pui Sounds familiar I also have tourettes and almost no one notices, and when I get stressed or tired I also get more tics.

@Handsompod I never heard of someone grabbing other people`s body parts because of tourettes, but I`ll take your word for it. o_o

My boyfriend`s tics are pretty mild. When we first started dating, sometimes I thought he was chuckling to himself and I`d be like "haha, what`s so funny?" and he`d be like "Oh, no sorry that was just a tic" and I`d be like "ohhhhh..... *awkward silence*" lol. Now though I am completely used to it and I do not even notice when he tics most of the time.

He owns his own successful business and tourettes has not affected his ability to function as a business man. I don`t think any client has ever noticed.

It sometimes gets bad when he`s very stressed or tired and it starts to hurt him. Like he`ll get some head tic repeatedly that gives him a headache, but even then that bothers him more than anyone else lol.

There are people like this, but it doesn`t mean that this is real. tourettes has different kind of levels and forms. I have a low level of tourettes and have learned to control my ticks (most of the time) and none of the ticks I hafe is swearing. the ticks I do have is turning my eye`s in an odd way, cough and some more. but I know a guy who is also autistic and has tourettes, he in the other case swears at everything even his parent. so I cant say if this guy is for real, cus there are people like him.

Yeah he does play upto it a bit, he usually just shouts woof-bollocks! and cuckcoos. He has the physical ticks as well and can`t sit still for love nor money. Give him his guitar though and it all stops. The inapropriate behaviour is funny though. When I showed him my prince albert he grabbed it and said PAAAAAARP! If any other guy had grabbed my dick he`d have had a sore nose. I just said DUUUUDE get off and laughed it off.

@Handsompod

I don`t know man, that sounds like he`s being overly dramatic. The few people I`ve met that were legitimately diagnosed with verbal TS would only shout single words, never a full sentence. I`m not doubting your friend has it, just that he may be up-playing it a bit. :\

@Handsompod I think sheaton319 just meant that tourettes does not necessarily cause a person to curse, and actually in most cases it does not at all. The way your friend`s tourettes manifests (sudden bursts of inappropriate words or phrases) happens in less than 10% of all cases.

Thanks for your insight doctor.
No tourrettes does not "Make" you constantly swear it just happens. It`s a tick, sometimes the tick is a duck quack or a raspberry, sometimes it`s a swear. it depends on the situation. I have a friend with tourrettes and he will say the most inaprpriate things because he knows he shouldn`t.
He got a new singer in his bang with a large nose, he was very consciouss of it and didn`t like it mentioned. As soon as my friend met him he shouted "aye up conky" and proceeded to grab his nose shouting "f*ck me look at the size of this!"
Inapropriate but great fun to be around.

@Vligon My boyfriend has tourettes. Apparently cases like this where you curse loudly and make such violent movements are quite rare. Most people have a much milder form. My boyfriend has had tourettes since he was a child. As a child he found it much harder to control, but now hardly anyone even knows he has it. He`s never cursed because of it. He does make some small little noises occasionally (usually sounds like a muffled laugh or sneeze) but it mostly shows in little movements he makes (tics). Overall, it does not effect his life at all.
