I liked this alot. It made me smile. Too bad so many people never noticed. You know, in middle school i used to get stacks of quarters and tape them to the undersides of desks. When i told people about it, they were shocked. `Why would you waste your money like that?!` I told them it was just to be nice. Its good to see other people do that, too.

Sad that some would think it was a trap. Kinda funny how the guy on the bike stopped for the one on the ground and missed the tree full of dollars though. :)

Very Sweet. People may indeed be stupid. But not greedy. I wonder how many of those dollars ended up in a charity can? I wonder if they changed a life? I wonder how many kids wished they were taller? I know I`m smiling.
Everyone who took a dollar owes the I.R.S. $0.056, and should be fined by the city for theft of public property.
What is the fine for giving bad legal advice? You can give a gift of $12,000 per person per year without it being considered income. If it was taxable, then they would simply have to declare it when they file taxes. Even if they didn`t declare it, it would be tax evasion, not theft of public property.

I hope the economy turns around soon, we obviously need to pour money into education.

I`d probably have asked if it was a charity and added some money.

i would prolly hesitate to take a $1. i would think it was someones tree or a hoax or something and be paranoid if they were fake or someone would yell at me for touching their tree.

I think most people will not take more than a few dollars because they assume they are being watched. If I found a tree full of money I`d be wondering where the camera is too.

Everyone who took a dollar owes the I.R.S. $0.056, and should be fined by the city for theft of public property. Undocumented exchange of American currency is a felony and these kids are lucky our government has more important things to do.

Ha, that one girl took like five dollars. I`m surprised people didn`t take more, which is kind of nice, if you think about it.
I`d probably only take a couple. I`d just know, somehow, that I was being watched and I`d feel bad if I took more than "my share."

I would have taken every possible dollar I could grab off that thing.

I`m always looking around for money. I mean, I`m the person who sees pennies on the ground during a rainstorm at night.

It`s how I found $180 in a bar parking lot a couple months ago. Saw one twenty, looked up, saw another plastered against the wall by the wind. Started searching the parking lot.

Best night ever.

It`s annoying how they try to play this as some huge emotional discovery.

"They LOOKED at it, but just couldn`t SEE it."

More than likely they just thought that it was for something and they probably shouldn`t take it. And for the people who didnt notice the money, I walk by a million trees lining the sidewalk and don`t look at every single one, especially if I`m using a cell phone or something.

A very nice experiment.

But for all the people who think this proves that people are not money hungry or greedy, here`s something to think about.
The video says people didn`t see the free money. But unless they would be interviewed you`ll never know.

These people could be so engulfed by media that they unknowingly block out everything they perceive as a commercial outing.
They could have seen the money but also the tag that was placed on it and automatically see it as a way to grab their attention and a waste of their time.

A second possibility could be that people are so aware of the fact that they are watched all the time and could have thought it was a trap (and a reason people didn`t take all the money at once, because they could have thought they would be `questioned` by a cameracrew why they where so greedy).

Thinking this way you could interpret this `experiment` prove of a society that gets to much impulses and sees a bear behind ever

There was a similar thing to this where £50 was just lying in the street (purposely) to see what would happen. It took quite a long time for anyone to notice and pick up.

I think this should show how people are not money hungry animals who have to just devour and destroy everything they see. I could have used $100 but I would have seen that someone put a lot of hard work and time into making that money tree and it wasn`t meant for just me, but everyone else as well. Who is to say many of those people didn`t feel the same way?

Also I like the guy who went into one of the stores then came back out got $3 and went back into the store. Guess he was a little short.

I`m amazed how many people walked past without even noticing there was money there. Mind you, it probably doesn`t help that all US money is green. If it had been somewhere in Europe or the UK it would have been much more obvious.

Was a very cool video and does say a lot about society today. That they appreciate the queerness of such a thing as a money tree, and we are not as greedy as we are made out to be. Was well done and loved the song.

"I want to do a social experiment with a sign that say "do not touch this sign" and see what people do."

I did something similar at home. If I put something out near the curb (bike, furniture) with a sign that says "free" the stuff sits there for days. If I put a price sign on it someone steals it over night.

I think a lot of people "saw" the money tree, but decided that it was not something they were meant to take from. It was an art exhibit or something. That`s why some people took pictures of it.

So... must people don`t pay attention when they`re walking. Already knew that. Also, they don`t go nuts for a bunch of $1 bills, especially when they`re hung in a conspicuous manner. This was pointless.
