Duh, they accounted for the currency difference by having all various years in a suitcase, did the maker of this not see the movie.

Or you could go back in time up to 10 years ago and earn WAY more money.

Or better yet. Travel back to the 1950s and invest in the stock market... freaking moron that made this infrographic.

Thats why you bring back a really cool physical object to sell and them put your thousands of dollars on sports and only put it in an interest account when you have a lot of money.

Since it`s obviously after 2000 because you have a 1950-2000 almanac, and since you know casinos don`t do sports book until 1974, don`t go back to 1950, just go back to 1974.

Duh!

Here`s what you can do without a time machine. Knowing full well that the economy regularly has massive swings up and down, wait until the next "oh my god it was a one in a million shot we never could have predicted it" market crash, buy a bunch of stock in companies that look like they`re probably gonna survive it, wait until people start gushing about how great the economy is doing, and sell it, put your money in a savings acount, wait for the next big crash, repeat.

Why not go back to 1900, put ten dollars in a savings account, and then be like WOOHOO

this chart... really...doesn`t... apply to the movie. Marty`s plan was to go back to his current year (1985) and use the almanac to win bets for the next 15 years. Biff already lived in 1950 and easily made his fortune on horse races (which someone already addressed in on this post).

If it was referring to a person from 2009, it would really make very little sense to go back so far. Find a year when gold worth was high, buy a lump of gold, take it back to that year, sell it, use the money to bet on long shots, put it in an account and go home.

Meh. Take the biggest loan you can get, go to the past and buy Microsoft stock the moment it`s issued, go back, laugh.

What you do is that you use the money you have in the present to buy some expensive peice of jewellery, take that back with you, sell it, open a bank account with that money and then travel back to the present. Problem solved.

though the chart thing doesn`t really, the post description implies this is supposed to be applied to bttf which was set in like, the 80`s? so with any amount of money you can make a 2009 monthly salary, in the 50`s which will be alot more due to inflation or whatever. so a steady income involving no work, and knowledge of things to invest in that will become successful..sounds like a good life to me.

Why would he put it in a savings account when he could invest in IBM like he told Doc Brown to do?

@OmgZelda - Also a good option, but Microsoft`s profit margins have consistently been higher than Apple`s, some might argue due to inferior products, I don`t know or care. All`s I know is, I would have gone the Microsoft route.

Seeing as i would not be as stupid as the protagonist here, i would not fail that hard. -10 years (or whatever timespan is covered in my book)should be plenty time to get me the moneyz.

It talks about how sporting betting couldn`t be made in casinos until 1974, so why not just use the Delorean to go to 1974 (or later) instead of 1950?

Please don`t flame me, Microsoft lovers. I hate Apple too...but...

You could go back when Apple shares were only about $0.17/share and use all your money to buy as many as you could...

or don`t go back so far, just far enough to invest heavily in microsoft. or before you go back in time, rather than withdrawing ally our cash, buy gold bricks or something tradable. obvious plot hole has obvious solution.

though personally, I don`t think it would quite work as well as we think. Biff changed the WORLD into this completely different world.

Surely that would impact things like which football teams got funding, allegations of match fixing, people looking more closely at various teams, more disqualifications than usual, changes in rosters, etc.

1) Look up lottery numbers for last week.
2) Go back a week.
3) ????
4) Profit.

And by ???? I mean buy a lottery ticket with those numbers.

"Uhm, not really, because Biff was already in the 1950s, and had 1950s money...so that would eliminate the first few problems."

I think I missed the part where Biff was in this comic. I thought it was about someone from 2010 trying his method.

Why do you need to go back that far at all? Trade in your money for some gold jewelry or something, sell it at a pawn shop in 1995, use that money to bet on a game with awesome odds in your favor. Or horse racers.

Male 588
Uhm, not really, because Biff was already in the 1950s, and had 1950s money...so that would eliminate the first few problems.

You could also always bet on something that had longer odds, or something more specific, like the actual score, which will generate more income.

This is why you have to go to a currency collector shop and buy old bills from that time period. Go back in time. Betting at horse races has been around since before 1950, Find a good long shot winning horse in the book, Go to the track and bet on it. Rinse and repeat several times. Viola, You`ll be a millionaire.

If you know the outcome of every sporting event, why would you bet on something that had 2-5 odds? Plus there was horse racing outcomes in Grey`s almanac, you could easily clean up there and turn $1 into 1000s.
