"Yes, it is. Do you really think anyone is going to read a research paper full of spelling errors? I guess spelling doesn`t matter in books, or business contracts either, huh?"

Well since almost nobody hand writes anything anymore and spell checkers do a pretty good job of sorting it out, i`d say your argument is pretty redundant.

"Spelling isn`t a requirement to be a scientist. Just gonna throw that one out yarrrpirate."

Yes, it is. Do you really think anyone is going to read a research paper full of spelling errors? I guess spelling doesn`t matter in books, or business contracts either, huh?

I think he`s a douche because all the advice he writes is crap, and he looks so proud of it.

Maybe the spelling errors were in the letter he received and he just copied it verbatim.

Either way, why does everyone hate this guy? Did I miss a video or something else that was posted with him in it, acting like a douchebag?

Also, he misspelled "Tendencies". He`s about as much of a scientist as my left nut (that is, not much at all).

Because that would be FRIGGIN AWESOME???

Seriously future robot overlords I`m in your side, please spare me for I have valuable information on the puny humans` resistance.

"If you`ve made robots that are sentient and intelligent, you`ve made people. You can`t morally build a killswitch into people, it`s just not right."

It`s not right to create a safeguard to ensure the intelligent, presumably physically superior machines don`t turn on the fleshy, collapsable population? We would be the ones creating them after all, so there is always the potential for something to go wrong by design. A single machine on a killing spree could turn into a nightmare if we can`t physically overpower it and there are no ways to disable them. We kill people who are killing others all the time. It wouldn`t be a killswitch for the lulz, more like a tightly controlled, highly protected function just in case.

isn`t there a mental condition where people feel they NEED to kill others? sounds to me like soon they wont have to put anything into anybody...not to mention all those whacked out religions...sadism, masochism, ect.

"You can`t morally build a killswitch into people, it`s just not right."

Yeah but so is animal testing, drug cartels, abortion, hate crimes, theft, domestic violence, bullying, bigotry, trolling, computer viruses, corrupt politicians, some of the medical industry, and murder. The fact that it isn`t "right" doesn`t stand in the way of a lot of people, which is an unfortunate truth of society.

A few problems:

i) If you`ve made a robot for general military or police use, you`re not going to include an easy off switch because that would make them useless. It`s fine if they`re just dumb tools for humans, e.g. a bomb disposal robot, but not if you want one to function as a soldier or police officer. Rob bank, get caught by robocop...just turn it off and you`re free.

ii) If you`ve made robots that are sentient and intelligent, you`ve made people. You can`t morally build a killswitch into people, it`s just not right.

As long as we ensure that killswitches are installed in every android/machine capable of passing the turing test, and don`t make them look exactly like humans, we can avoid 90% of machine related uprisings

What about through the head? Seems like a slightly larger target to me, and it makes sure they don`t become zombies afterwards. `Cause everyone knows a Zombie v. Robot war isn`t good for anyone.

Just need one massive kill switch that sets off an EMP and burns out every robot in existence. Problem solved. Sure, we`d have to rebuild most of our technology from scratch, but it`s better than being killed by said technology.
