Remember this guy? The man who raged about his WoW account. Listen to his discussion. NB: This is a serious post.

Didn`t think I would watch the whole thing, but I did.

And now I feel content. A good way to end the day; a dash of hope.

Shine on, you crazy star, shine on.

That was actually quite uplifting and motivational. Despite his choice of posters and decor, this guy is OK. xD

"Rotund nerd"? Way to be a dick iab. Typical human nature to point out flaws of others and overlook many positive characteristics. Guy makes sense, don`t try and make fun of someone if they`re grateful and happy where they are >_>

If you pay attention, fat people always do this. They talk everything to death, make YouTube videos, join programs, etc. Anything except ACTUALLY skip a meal!

I have to admit that I started watching this sort of thinking it would be a funny nerd rage episode, or something similar, but the guy actually makes sense, and genuinely seems to try to want to inspire people. So kudos, video-guy. Well done. :)

If you pay attention, his "hope" for a better life is also translated into action. I.e. he says he made a plan, with concrete action steps, and every day made himself take that first step and do whatever was needed.

That is pretty much the key to success for personal happiness: figuring out what you really want and need, determining how that can be achieved concretely, and putting in the effort needed (and sticking with it, even when things get difficult - and they most likely will at some point). And not losing hope.

And don`t forget to help one another along the way, when you can. If only because whatever you put out in this world comes back to you in some form (so might as well try to do positive changes

Some people want to bash on the guy for what he looks like, and the objects in his room, but they don`t realize that he has more than thousands of others could ever have, and that`s high hopes and optimism, because in a world of negativity that seeks to bring you down, such as some non-nice individuals commenting tonight.. He can still hold his head up high, and I can respect that, and that`s a quality everyone should possess.

What he said was exactly right. People become depressed because they don`t believe it will ever get better and they`re not happy with where they`re at at the time. This guy could help a lot of people.

BBQ - Dude, I`ve f*ked myself so many times it`s a miracle I`ve made it this far. I`m supporting what the guy is saying & doing. My only "disagreements" are that success isn`t always enough and his use of `hope` when a more proactive word like `strive` or `persevere` (as Star suggests) would be better.

Like mykunter says, put hope (or wish) in one hand and doodoo in the other ... And the vid dude is emphasizing that he ACTED on his plans instead of just `hoping`. He set out to create his own happiness (Star again).

You`re right bull. There are times when drugs are the only option. But I`ve met so many people put on psych drugs as an easy "solution". Your posts are right on - wallowing does little good either. But for the desperate it sometimes helps to know that someone else has the same experience and that it can be survived.

All jokes aside, I gotta give this guy some props for his Optimism at least. "Hope" isn`t a very good way to describe it. Everyone has a really crappy day every once in a while and I think Perseverance with the right positive attitude/outlook can make a huge difference for someone in those bad times. Create your own happiness, as opposed to "Hoping" for the best when the $h!t hits the fan.
On the bright side, at least he`s not whimpering from under what could`ve been his jet black emo hair in some over-dramatic monologue about his "Daddy Issues" and how the world has gotten the best of him, haha
So for that I say, Good on ya man! -- after that thoughtful little note I gotta say, Princess Leia looks like she wants it BAD! in that poster of his haha

Go f-u-c-k yourself. You lick the penises of donkeys for a living.

This guy had some pretty good stuff to say, it seemed like he had put some thought into it. This made me think which is more than what 99% of the internets content can say.
If they see a psychiatrist they`re given drugs that just mute the demons and end up making them a sicker mess or a zombie or both.
You`re right; prescription medications aren`t always a good idea. I should have said mental health professional. But sometimes drugs do help, and there are social workers that people can turn to if they can`t afford a shrink.

My point is, if the guy doesn`t have a solution, he shouldn`t drone on for 8 minutes trying to offer one. Nobody wants to hear "I used to be in your suck-a** situation too, but now I`m in such a better place." That`s just going to make the person feel more lost and alone. Admit you don`t know, and if you can, refer than to someone who might actually have some solutions.

Sorry Kitty - I didn`t mean to creep you out.

I don`t know what you mean by "these posts everywhere". I posted on the kid`s note because I get upset about kids being neglected. I posted here because the vid is a serious discussion about suicidal thoughts (actually there`s a connection - listen to him describe his childhood), because others on IAB offered serious commentary, and because I`ve been closely associated with people like this guy and I know what happens, how they think.

You`re right I`m not a trained psychiatrist but I have experiences and insights from those experiences that some people have found more helpful than a psychiatrist (and his/her drugs).

I certainly don`t mean to creep anyone out, but if I can give just one person something to think about that might make their lives or the lives of other better, I`m willing to take that risk.

(Sorry guys - another long-arse post from JB.)

Why are you leaving these posts everywhere? You keep acting like you are a trained psychiatrist and it`s really creeping me out.

I dunno, bull. He could`ve used the more pro-active word `strive` instead of `hope` in a lot of places. Also, It can be helpful for someone in so much pain to know that it is worth fighting through and it is possible to survive.

Professional help is a great idea but some people can`t afford it. If they see a psychiatrist they`re given drugs that just mute the demons and end up making them a sicker mess or a zombie or both.

Material success may help but isn`t enough (Curt Cobain). We all need just one person we can confide in and be our true selves with. Someone to validate us. Interesting how he talks about his "friends" as if he really doesn`t have a close one. And now he`s going on a long trip alone ... to perhaps find one?

Yes they are, I don`t think he did them though. I think those are promo ones they sometimes send to players as a "sample" of the next set coming out.

What depressed and/or suicidal person would regard a fat nerd with a Princess Leah poster in his bedroom as their best chance for help? I think this guy is full of sh*t. And possibly fudge.

where to begin...

1. He gives a good description of a suicidal individual as someone who`s pain shadows their ability to hope for a better life. Then his solution is to "just hope". *facepalm*

2. If you want to make a video helping people who are dealing with suicidal thoughts, don`t make half of it self-indulgent dribble about your struggle for, and acquisition of, success.

3. If he has dealt with mental illness before, his video should be urging people to seek psychiatric help and GIVE them hope by telling them it WILL get better. Telling someone to "just hope" is about as useful as telling them to "ride a rainbow" or "catch a dream".

4. The word hope has lost all meaning for me after watching this crap.

Glad he cares enough to make a video, but really all he did was add some more useless material to the internet for people to sift through in search of some answers.

I loved it, but I "hope" theres a second piece on how hope is nothing without motivation/determination. Thats the real struggle.
