@Gerry1of1: lol@ the incest thing, and I hadn`t thought of that. There`s also something kind of like the adoption thing, that I`ve been looking into recently (and suddenly can`t remember what it`s called D: I think it`s like power of attorney, but that seems a lil too controlling.) Anyway, my brain`ll eventually catch up and I`ll remember what it is. Thanks for the advice :)

@Gerry 18 years, man, your butt must be sore!

I keed, I keed, I just couldn`t help myself, I am sorry. Man, you love who you love it`s not conciously chosen or it wouldn`t really be love.
I don`t beleive anyone can be trained, taught, forced, raised or made to be gay.
I say, let `em marry and adopt (assuming they meet the criteria set forth for anyone else).

AnInsomniac... here`s a trick a lot of gay couples did in the 80`s. Adoption. There are surprisingly few legal restrictions on adoptions... like age. you can adopt her or vice versa. That makes you legal next of kin in any emergency.

It also makes it incest but what the hell...

@Gerry1of1: I want to get married to my fiancee (thank you pui :P) because I`m afraid of not being able to do anything if something happened to her and vice versa (I`ll admit, getting added to her health insurance at work would be really nice too, but the company won`t let her add me since I`m not a relative/spouse).
I can 100% understand that a piece of paper doesn`t validate the relationship, but I`m a worry-wart who keeps thinking about what could happen if we don`t have any legal rights to each other...especially when you don`t have anyone else around to make those decisions besides the state. (By the way, part of my fear of not having rights is the fact that I live in a very conservative area where everyone, rather they`ve been told or not, still calls her my "friend".)

I hope I didn`t offend by asking :(

no. legal marriage wasn`t even a remote possibility when we got together. I started using "husband" then because it correctly defines the relationship. Partner or Lover don`t fully convey the commitment or seriousness of a truely {emotionally/spiritually} married couple.

Now, after all this time, what`s the point of a ceramony? My relationship is as valid with or without the legal documents. At least it is to anyone who matters. Though I support gay marriage for anyone who wants it.

@Pui: lol yeah, that would be better wording XP I`ve just gotten into the habit of saying "my girlfriend" because it keeps people from asking "his" name. Bad habit lol sorry?

@iambored:

Also, madest trolls daily and he`s in his 40s. Why am I any different.

Oh I see! I have different political views than you, even though I support gay marriage. That means I`m held to more scrutiny than others.

I feel loved.

@Gerry1of1, do you mean you got the legally binding ceremony or just "married" like my girlfriend and I? Either way, congrats on your long term relationship :)

Sorry, I`m just kinda sappy because today is my 4 year anniversary with my girlfriend, and if you are one of the lucky ones to actually be married (ya know, share health care and taxes returns, and have legal rights kinda thing) I`m jealous :D

Sorry, if that`s too personal... O_O

I`m sorry, but don`t you think whomever did that commercial could find a generally more attractive gay man?

That guy does an excellent impersonation of the Old Spice guy. He`s got that voice down pat. Bravo!

Wouldn`t the total number of people in the statistic go up, meaning that even if homosexuals (which by the way, yes I am) got divorced at the same rate as heterosexuals the rate would remain constant? Math isn`t my subject so feel free to correct me. Is that what you mean, edana42? (no sarcasm intended, kinda confoosled and asking :) ya know?)

perhaps auburnjunky is assuming gay divorce rate will be 30% and is doing his statistics incorrectly by adding that to the 50% current divorce rate.

Lol, nice. Pretty good adaptation.

auburnjunky... you know all about the gay divorce rate huh?

I`ve been with my hubby for 18 years. I have 3 brother and my gay brother has been with his hubby for 23 years. My 2 straight brothers both got divorces after 5 years of marriage. Maybe the divorce rate would go down.

But I believe in free speach for all so it`s good you have your say! Even idiots should speak their opinions. Heck, video your thoughts, post them on YouTube and we`ll all have a good laugh here at IAB watching them.

@auburnjunky: why do you say that? I`m trying not to get offended by that, but either way you look at it, it`s pretty offensive seeming. Explain your statement and reasons?

AND I agree with pui and fealiks.

still, I admit, I laughed a little.

Let `em marry, but don`t count their divorce rate in straight marriage figures.

It would go up to like 80%.
