You`re just wrong, the Commonwealth is not a place or region. The UK is a specific part of the world and I`m willing to bet New Zealand was never within the borders of that part of the world.
And I`m going to repeat that you are utterly incapable of reading simple English
That`s all you ever say. That and "Go back and read my posts, you`ll understand what I mean."

I think I`ve figured out why.

You know I`m right. But your petty pride (or stupidity, I`m not sure which) won`t let you admit it.

Because of that, you`re completely unable to come up with a valid counter-argument.

Once again, I think you`re lying about your age. You`re some whiny little 14-year-old emo kid who thinks that if someone doesn`t agree with him, they just "can`t possibly begin to understand me," right?

That bad habit of your that you always HAVE to get in the last word is another sign that proves my theory.

Don`t worry, you`ll grow out of it, kiddo. It`s just a phase.

Somehow, you understand metaphors perfectly. But not literal English. I don`t know how your brain can be so drastically miswired.

The UK is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Island ( one island and part of another) the Commonwealth is a residual of the British Empire.

I`m going to repeat my question about whether or not you`re a 14 year old emo kid? It seems you can`t just walk away without getting the last word, can you?

I may be a walking contradiction, but at least I`m not going back on my own logic by saying New Zealand should be considered part of Europe because it used to be a British colony, but apparently Cuba should be considered part of South America despite previously being a Spanish colony.

And if you`re going by strong national connections and stuff like that, wouldn`t Cuba be considered, like, part of Russia, since they were pretty close at one point? Or China, since they seem relatively close and are both authoritarian communist states?

And considering that proximity often plays a part in national foreign relations (think US-Canada), why WOULDN`T New Zealand be close with Australia?

Seriously, like I asked, do you even THINK before you type anything?

Siyanor I don`t agree with your argument either (although I do see where you`re coming from). Yes, NZ is not part of Australia but the countries are neighbors. Unless you`re from NZ and you vehemently despise Australians, then Australia would be the most obvious choice.
I don`t think anyone here is old enough to feel a connection to the UK.

New Zealand was never part of the UK or Australia. It is part of the Commonwealth of Nations (aka the British Commonwealth). Since it is comprised of islands, it is not physically part of a continent (the same way Britain isn`t). Unlike Britain, the closest continent is made up entirely of one country so it would be unfair to list them as part of a different country. That is why the whole region has been named Oceania, being all of the island nations in the south pacific that are not part of Australia. Many, if not all, atlases call the whole area "Australia and Oceania". Therefore, New Zealand is in Oceania.
In conclusion, Siyanor, trying to place New Zealand in Europe is one of the stupidest things I`ve read in a while. It would be like saying the Moon is in North America. Altaru, just give up dude, it`s pointless (or he`s a troll).
Thank you.

Then what you call the UK, aussie?

New Zealand was part of the UK, the UK is part of Europe. Therefore, New Zealand was part of Europe.

And yes, some parts of present-day US were, in fact, part of Europe at one point in time. They simply weren`t called the US then.

Obviously, one of two things is going on here.

Either

A) YOU have no idea what your argument is, or

B) Your fingers have Tourette`s, because you`re thinking something completely different from what you`re typing.

And, in the case of NEITHER of those being true, than I DO in fact see your point and argument, but they`re both RETARDED. And when I point that out, like I said, put on your superiority complex hat and act like the world doesn`t understand you. Are you sure you`re not a 14-year-old emo kid?

And just in case you STILL don`t quite see how you went back on your own logic, I`ll spell it out.

You say that New Zealand, despite being near Australia, should be considered part of Europe, specifically the UK, because of history.

However, CUBA should be considered part of South America because of proximity.

Do you get it? Or are you gonna put on your superiority complex hat and go on proclaiming ME the idiot while completely failing to acknowledge your own faulty logic?
You still don`t know what my logic is... wow...
Your logical reasoning, at least the only logic I could pull out of your bullsh*t ramblings, in saying that New Zealand should be considered part of the UK, was that if the option for ones own location was not present, then the selection should be based on who founded the country and who (you assume) they share the tightest bond with.

In which case, since neither Central America, the Caribbean, or General North America are options, than someone living in Cuba would select Europe, since Spain settled the Island and owned it up until the S-A War.

You`re f*cking retarded, I swear. I don`t think YOU understand your own logic.

Male 1,184
No, I`m getting my facts from a California textbook. Of course, as I`ve said before, all my history teachers were terrible. Also, North America isn`t an option either. So, yes, I expect Cubans to say their location is South America on IAB.

Last I checked, the Australia region doesn`t include New Zealand, just like the Asia region doesn`t include Russia despite the vast majority of Russia being in the Asian region. Russia is in Europe.

The region in which you live doesn`t mean "a place near where you live." It means "a place which includes where you live." There is no such place as an option, therefore, it makes sense to choose a place which DID include where you live.

Male 3,482
Cuba is quite clearly always considered part of South America, which IS AN OPTION for IAB location, IF Central America is not an option.
What...? Dude, seriously, are you getting your facts from a Texas textbook?

Cuba would be considered part of NORTH America. Even if you go by the tectonic plate it sits on, Cuba is in the north. (Or at least, the northern part of the Caribbean Plate.) If Central isn`t an option, of course, but still...

And your logic is just backwards. And fail, for that matter. Take a quick look at the setting for location on the My Account page.

The setting for location is called "Region," as in general area you live in. New Zealand is NOT in the "Europe" REGION. Last I knew, it was more in the Australia REGION.

Don`t say anything about my logic if you can`t understand my logic. Cuba is quite clearly always considered part of South America, which IS AN OPTION for IAB location, IF Central America is not an option. No location to which New Zealand CURRENTLY belongs is an option, THEREFORE it makes sense to choose a location TO WHICH IT BELONGED PREVIOUSLY.

Now do you finally get it?
It makes PERFECT SENSE to say Europe if you can`t say New Zealand.
*facepalm*

By your logic, Cuba should be considered part of Spain, and all those other islands in the area of Oceania should be considered parts of the countries that founded them.

And apparently, were you not told, you would assume that Canada and the U.S. aren`t close (knowing you, you`ll take that in terms of distance, so I`ll let you know that I mean they share a bond), despite being RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER.

Wow. Altaru, seriously. You need to READ my comments. It`s extremely obvious that you either didn`t read them or didn`t understand them.

New Zealand is NOT an option.

Europe and Australia are options.

New Zealand used to be part of Europe.

New Zealand was never part of Australia, to my knowledge, and I wasn`t aware of them being "brother countries."

It makes PERFECT SENSE to say Europe if you can`t say New Zealand.

Curly, you`re the one being a jerk. You can`t possibly expect me to know everything about New Zealand. I had no idea there was any relation whatsoever between Australia and New Zealand except that they`re geographically nearby. Given the knowledge I had, it made perfect sense for me to say that Europe makes more sense than Australia. You`re the first person to make any mention of them being related at all.

Siyanor don`t be a douche. Australia and New Zealand are like brother countries. Europe is a place on the other side of the world where most of us have never even been. When us Kiwis select a country on I-A-B we don`t think `historically` - "well my ancestors who settled here about 300 years ago were most likely from Europe so ill select that option" . No. We pick Australia where most of us have been or have come from anyway. Please don`t write about a country you have never even been to and know nothing about.

There`s an option for Australia, Africa, four parts of the US, and Asia.

Since there`s no option for New Zealand, the closest thing to New Zealand is Europe, unless you`re thinking geographically rather than historically.
