madest:
The WWII monument ruins the Mall. It`s a goddamn monstrosity.
Considering DC didn`t have a WWII memorial, Even though Vietnam vets and Korean Vets each had one, It was long overdue that WWII vets got theirs.

The 87,000 CBS source was wrong by most accounts, madest. Even the New York Times and NBC News poked holes in CBS`s numbers and estimated the crowd at 300,000.
AJ: madest couldn`t ever admit that Glenn Beck is that popular, It would shatter his ethos.
-------------
Close. I can`t admit America has that many stupid people. The crowd was pegged at under 100k by a company that does that for a living. I trust them over Fox or Becks estimate. The picture AJ shows looks about right. The contents of FedEx Field emptied on the Mall. Still believe there were more people at the Flugtag event.

PS: The WWII monument ruins the Mall. It`s a goddamn monstrosity.
United States park service says 300k my friend.
--------
Really? Because the US Park service doesn`t give out crowd estimates. The only media outlet that actually paid for a crowd counting service was CBS.
..No `bud` I don`t.

That was actually in St. Paul proper. Why does Minneapolis get all the props? It`s like St. Paul is the bastard stepchild.

"Actually Beck had 89k to 92k."

United States park service says 300k my friend.

I think they would know how many people were in the park. It`s their job to police them. Fox news stated the number was "Thousands".

MSNBC says 300k. Kinda got that backwards didn`t you there bud?

>>If a human powered contraption ever does achieve sustainable flight at Flugtag it will be a world`s first.

You never heard of Paul MacCready? The Gossamer Albatross? The Kremer prize? Human powered flight is over 30 years old now.

duffytoler: Actually, Flugtag is a challenge of flight, Human powered flight. There are rules about weight, Size, It`s limited to 5 people total, And as you can see in the contest there is very limited take-off space. If a human powered contraption ever does achieve sustainable flight at Flugtag it will be a world`s first.

>>Just strap on some rollerblades and grab a hangglider. Boom. World record.

Yeah, I thought the point of the whole "flugtag" thing was that the entries don`t really fly, they just look stupid and they do it for a laugh or whatever.

i went to the one in philadelphia. it was pretty awful. it was actualyl in camden, whom they conveniantly "forgot" to tell there would be a flugtag. so literally thousands descend on camden, and all public transportation stopped. then due to hurricane earl, not even the plane made by the MIT could fly. one plane even went -15 feet

Well of course it`s going to get lift. You made a drating glider. This become much less impressive when you realize aerodynamic flight was realized 100+ years ago...
