What`s with everyone jumping on the moral high-horse all of a sudden? 1) Machines are not as good at packaging cards as people. 2) These people need jobs to live. 3) Nowhere in the video does it indicate their rate of pay, they might be Asian immigrants to Norway getting more money than you for all you know, or they might go home to their mansions and swimming pools full of cocaine and hookers, all because they are employed. I would continue, but all I can think about now is how much I want cocaine and hookers in my pool.

Yeah VW they probably do only make 2 bucks a day, but it only costs 15 cents a day for food, etc. If they did make 8 bucks an hour like in the US that deck of cards would cost everyone 10 bucks a pack. And as for it being humans packing them, its common sense. What if 2 cards stick together on a machine and it miss counts? then every deck afterwards will be off.

They must get like a commission for how many card decks they package. Why else are they working so fast? Oh wait, it`s China....

Yup, that`s definitely cheap Chinese labor. They probably get paid less than US$2 per day for doing that.

the joker is the end of the pack in all packaged playing cards. usually the joker has the most amount of ink on the card thus it makes it the heaviest card in the deck and it will usually stick out from the other cards due to that fact. i don`t think it`s super human i think they are just so used to doing it they`ve became robots themselves.

First we know there is at least 1 Joker. So we`re talking probably a 54 card deck.

Also, their hands are gonna give out by age 30. Repetitive stress fractures all over the place.

"Hopefully they are paid like human beings"

How are human beings paid? Pay should be determined by how many other can/want to do your job. If more people can/want to do your job then you get paid less, and visa versa.

I`m just relating what she has told me, I had also heard horror stories but was surprised when she maintained that that was the case, same working hours as us.

"the-x-ray: Complete and utter rubbish. The Chinese has 8-hour workdays and 2-day weekends just like us. "

This is not true for much of China. I work with manufacturing facilities in China and most of the workers work from 9 to 7. And most work on Saturday, some on a shorter schedule. They also don`t take the "coffee breaks" and long lunches typical in Western culture.

They are not required to work these schedules but they due because of the high unemployment rate.

"did you know that this kind of job is normal for workers in asia ? they do that up to 21 hours a day, without a free day, all year an earn about 40 $ a month. imagine that when you buy chinese playing cards. please don`t support chinese factories."

Given that they voluntarily took these jobs, it must be the case that the jobs (as poor as the conditions sound) are better than the alternatives. So, you go ahead and boycott the cards and force the workers into whatever worse alternative they are trying to avoid by working in the card factories. It`s sad that people can care enough to spout this nonesense but not enough to become informed as to how basic economics works.

its 52 cards every time because they start with the joker and end at the joker every time. So they don`t have to count, they know the cards are in order starting and ending at a Joker.

You have to keep in mind that their cost of living does not compare to ours. To us, $40 a month would be ridiculous. To them, $40 a month may be a lot of money.

Yes, the labor is intense, and I know I couldn`t handle that kind of work schedule, but that`s what your governmental choice gives you

ultimakewl - not really true.
You have to pay for the electricity to run the bots, as well as periodic maintenence - with maintenence comes the maintainers, who you could hire to work at your company incase one breaks down, or you could pay them to fix the robot whenever it does.
